Hello, We are saddened to hear of your experience at our Dealership. We knew you were coming off of a bad experience at another dealership just prior to working with us so we worked exceptionally hard to ensure that you had a great experience here at Whaling City Ford of New London. While we know it wasn't any singular incident that caused this distaste we have worked to try and resolve the issues that did arise from the purchase of the vehicle. Unfortunately when financing a vehicle GAP insurance sometimes because mandatory from the bank. GAP - Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) insurance is also known as GAPS and was established in North American financial industry. GAP insurance is the difference between the actual cash value of a vehicle and the balance still owed on the financing (car loan, lease, etc.). GAP will pay-off your vehicle in the event that it is a total loss in an accident and the insurance company does not value it at what you currently owe. GAP will pay the difference so that you don't have to pay out of pocket for a vehicle you can no longer use. *This may be required for some auto loans by the Bank or Leasing Company*. So while we would never want one to purchase something they don't want or feel they need, some things like this are out of our control. We did try to resolve any servicing issues that arose too, including driving a vehicle to and from your home which is almost an hour and a half from the dealership one way. We completed the service work that came-up at that point and even re-installed your running boards that were installed incorrectly by someone after purchasing the vehicle from us. We really do try hard to make our customers happy and take care of anything that arises from the purchase. Unfortunately for the Dealership to continually repair an off-brand truck for free after the warranty has expired is not something we can partake in. For vehicles such as this, our finance manager offers a vast array of customized Warranty Packages at the time of purchase unless otherwise previously declined; so that your purchase and your future finances are protected by costly repairs that can arise during ownership. We hope that the Dodge Truck doesn't persist in having issues and we hope that you understand that we really are a dealership composed of personnel that go above and beyond to ensure that our customers are satisfied. Regards, ~The Whaling City Team

Unfortunately I wouldn’t call ignoring customers calls and texts for over three week, and failing to fix issues that were brought up within 2 weeks of ownership trying to make a customer happy. I appreciate the response, however you sold a vehicle with a frozen emergency brake cable costing me ($1,295), a leak in an air suspension component costing ($1,699) and a broken rear sway bar costing ($899). All of those issues do not happen overnight, and all of those issues I asked to be fixed within two weeks of ownership and the service department said everything was “fixed” when it wasn’t. I understand a dealership is out to make money, it’s a business. However ignoring texts and phone calls in order to push the customer out of warranty is extremely bad business and I will never be going back or recommending Whaling City Ford to anyone. Best of luck.

We again apologize that you feel this way about your experience, especially when you came to us because of a bad experience elsewhere. Our Service Department is available Monday through Saturday during business hours so it is hard to understand why one wouldn't be able to get ahold of service for the repair during a warranty period. The Emergency Brake Cable was seemingly operable and it wasn't until after the sale was informed that it was hanging, not frozen and upon assembly and lubrication was operable. It could have broken loose during your home installation of the running boards which we fixed, as well as traveling or had other road conditions that could lead to its malfunction. The leaking suspension did not show signs or symptoms while in our facility nor did the sway bar. All seemingly are things that could occur in overloading of the vehicle which is not something that would occur during a safety inspection. We did perform a vast array of service work to the vehicle to bring it up to sale quality but unfortunately we can not foresee future damages caused by events occurring after the sale. We again are sincerely apologetic for the problems that arose from your purchase of the Dodge Truck. We wish you the best of luck with the vehicle.
