Took my car in for recall service. The representatives were welcoming and had already attended to my husband's contacting them regarding purchasing a car for me. Charlie was courteous and conscientious about keeping a safe distance and sterilizing the pen, my driver's license, each item thoroughly and carefully. Al was exceptionally impressive with his words and his actions and his thoroughness. Al did not hurry us (this was a surprise for me, so I didn't have any pre-hand knowledge) as he answered all of my questions and concerns. He seemed genuinely excited for me (I know that he was making a sale, but I felt that I experienced the little things like facial expressions and body language). The woman at the desk (I'm sorry I don't know her name) was kind and courteous each time we came in with her offer of water, tea, coffee, ease of comfort. There was one person who was less than satisfactory and changed the tone of our visit. Patrick's body language and word choices were uninviting and a bit harsh. I know that he was selling a product, and granted, being a bit forceful sometimes makes the sale. This time, however, I turned to my husband and almost cancelled the entire purchase of the car. Two incidents to support my claim: First, after he got through the first few items, and my husband declined, he said something to the effect, "The guys up front told me that you probably wouldn't go for these." What does that mean exactly? It means to me that there was a discussion about us that was not favorable regarding our character. Another specific example to my claim was when he was near the end of his presentation. My husband mentioned how he has always purchased Toyota cars with the main reason being the quality and reliability, so he had confidence that if well-maintained, we would not need these additional items being presented. Patrick hardly allowed my husband to finish his sentence and told us that he could understand his argument, but... In this incident, Patrick should not have used the word "argument". We were not arguing. This was not an argument. Our discussion was not in defensive mode. Perhaps a better choice of words could have been, "I understand your point, but..." Again, I was very close to calling off this purchase at this dealership. Luckily, just in time, up steps Al, and all was positive again, even from a distance, I could feel Al's positive vibes. More
