I had done extensive research so I knew what I wanted and what I should be paying. It was a Friday night and I had my two young daughters with me. When I entered the dealership, sales associate Joseph Corso approached us very informally and with a friendly smile. I had already warned my daughters that it was going to be a painful experience and we were going to be lunged at by sales people like vultures. I asked Joseph if we could test drive my selected model and he took us out, and did not balk when I said I only wanted to drive it around the block a few times. Joseph applied no pressure while pointing out all the great features of the car and answering my extensive questions (he is a former Subaru mechanic so he knows his stuff). When we got back I was plotting my exit and how to escape what I expected was the impending sales attack, but Joseph remained friendly and casual and told me to come back any time if I wanted to drive it again or talk about buying. I gingerly asked him if he would give me his quote, and he sat down, looked at the available vehicles he had coming in that met my criteria, and gave me a completely honest, transparent and all-inclusive price, that he put in writing via email with the actual VIN # of an incoming car. I was rather surprised that the price was under my buying club certificate price, and I got my hopes up that if I went to the other dealers I might be able to get an even better deal. My how car sales has changed, I (naively) thought as I left the showroom. Immediately the next day I launched into contacting the other dealers, and boy was I in for a surprise. I was given two sales agents competing at one dealership, offering me two different prices on the same car; another dealer quoted me a good competitive price (but even so only a hundred or so dollars below Joseph's) on a vehicle color combination that did not exist, then told me I'd have to pay extra if I wanted a black interior instead of a white one, wasting my time completely; and all kinds of similar antics. Even in the case where another dealer was professional and friendly, their price was higher than what Joseph had given me. So I quickly emailed Joseph back and put a deposit on the car with him. I felt really good about doing business with this dealership, which is a stretch for me since I'm the cargo bike type and don't really like the idea of cars. The car was scheduled to arrive by train in a couple of weeks. The timing was fine since we were scheduled to fly to the E. Coast for a work and family trip anyway. Imagine my surprise when on the Saturday night before we left, Joseph called to say the car had arrived, 9 days early! Now we were excited and really wanted to get our new car. But, it was Joseph's day off and Sunday was too, and we were booked on an 18 mile bike ride all day Sunday as well. Joseph said he would try to see if the car could be readied for delivery to us that night, and he would arrange his schedule to meet us there within an hour or two. It was dinnertime Saturday, and Joseph delayed his family dinner with his children so that we could get our car, which we did, quickly and easily. He set up our bluetooth, ran through all the features and helped me get comfortable with the car, and like that, we drove away. The financing was a snap too. In sum, I can highly recommend Joseph as a straightforward, easy to work with sales agent that will give you a good deal from the start without any haggling, tricks or surprises, and will go out of his way to get you the car you need and want as quickly as possible. Plus, you can't beat a Subaru, I should have bought one a long time ago! More
My quest for a new car started at the Subaru dealer in Vancouver, where my experience was actually the best I have ever had. I did everything but buy the car there because in spite of the great deal, frie Vancouver, where my experience was actually the best I have ever had. I did everything but buy the car there because in spite of the great deal, friendly service and sincerity, I felt that I owed Wentworth and Carr a chance to "earn my business" like they had worked so hard to do at the first place I went. They warned me about the tricks that other dealers pull, and described some of them for me. Well they were right. I went to these other dealers because they promised me a better deal, and what looked at first on paper and in conversation to be that, I was painfully disappointed when I figured out that their quotes didnt include things like destination/delivery, factory installed accessories or a decreased value on my trade-in. So while at first it looked like I was gonna save $600 to $1500, what I found was that they wanted to tack these things on after they agreed to a price on the car. This actually put me at anywhere from $250 to $500 more than what I would have paid at the first place I went, and when I said I was gonna go back, they ended up offering it to me at the same price I could have originally bought it in Vancouver! What a scam! What I regret, is that I went ahead and bought it at my last stop anyway, (not here at Wentworth) cause I was tired of driving all over and just needed a new Subaru. Dont waste your time coming all the way out here, you CAN GET THE BEST DEAL AT THE FIRST PLACE YOU GO!!! (In Vancouver) More
Very rude and arrogant employee Shelby who hung up on me and told me that they have no problem selling cars here... ---click---- Upon calling back he told me that he did not care and that I can go and com and told me that they have no problem selling cars here... ---click---- Upon calling back he told me that he did not care and that I can go and complain to his manager. The manager simply replied that he was sorry and acted as if he would try and make up for it? How? by pricing it closer to what the competition charges? Not a chance after being hung up on and told off by his smarmy employee. As for dealing with this dealership Shelby priced out a lease on a 2009 $29,000 subaru for me and came up with numbers $100 higher than other subaru dealers in the area, and $50 less than the cost of leasing a high end 40,000 luxury car. When I pointed this out he replied we have no problem selling cars and hung up as I was in the process of asking for a better deal. More
