I chose Walser after a good previous experience, their upfront pricing model and location convenience. I was ready to buy a $30k CRV after test driving the car but the service manager was not able to prov upfront pricing model and location convenience. I was ready to buy a $30k CRV after test driving the car but the service manager was not able to provide me with the military discount (only $250) without my deployed husband with me. Salesman was surprised when I said that I would wait for him to come home (only a few days away). Honestly, it was a yellow-flag that they would not honor this small discount, so maybe I needed to slow down and rethink purchasing from them at all. Car was still available when husband arrived but salesman said they would honor the discount without him so I could stop in to buy on my way to the airport. Great! Process to buy car in full with a check took over 2 hours. Salesman said that it was because they were training in a new manager but other customers came and went with their cars so pretty sure they just kept forgetting about me. I stayed patient and made small talk with my salesman. The second disappointment is that Walser no longer has a true upfront pricing model. They now have a PULSE flashing break light installed that they charge you $500 for which is not included in their advertised car price. So now Walser is no different than all the other dealerships that add features you don't want to used cars and then charge you for them. Very disappointing and ruins the customer trust that they used to have. My last comment is that I'm grateful that my salesman in Wayzata was honest with me about the service warranty being only until the car reaches 100k miles. My salesman at Walser Honda in Burnsville 2 years ago told me that it was an additional 100k miles from the current odometer so I bought it for $3k thinking that I had at least 5 years on my nearly 70k mile car. Unfortunately, I was taken for a ride on that one. In total, I used to be a big Walser fan but now I'd say that they are no better than any other car dealership so don't let your guard down! More
