He showed us a variety of models, listened to our preferences, and brought out models that most closely resembled our preferences. We took a few out for a test drive and then left the dealership with the information needed to make a choice. We made an appointment for another day, looked at the few we had under serious consideration, and test drove a 2010 demo model. Mr. Fitzpatrick was very knowledgeable, patient, helpful. We came to a conclusion and purchased a very nice car, the Vovo S80. Everyone at the dealership was polite and helpful without being fawning. We were treated with respect, kept comfortable, and had an overall pleasant experience. More
We drove from another state to make a potential purchase of a Volvo. The initial salesperson was friendly and low pressure, ultimately recommending to us a comparable Saab. We were happy with the car and we of a Volvo. The initial salesperson was friendly and low pressure, ultimately recommending to us a comparable Saab. We were happy with the car and were ready to get our trade-in priced out. Although the dealer did not have the exact car we wanted on the lot, they seemed willing to look for us one at another dealership. After offering us a deal that we were willing to accept without even having the car on the lot to test drive, they called us the next day indicating the price they'd quoted us was in fact wrong. They had "miscalculated" and forgotten to include the payoff amount of our trade-in. They would not honor the previous deal they offered us, and quoted us a new price, $80 more/month than the original amount. We were already putting a significant amount of money down, so we asked if they couldn't just give us more for our trade-in allowance, which would bring us to within a few dollars of what the original montly payment was. The salesperson said, "No, the deal was the deal." We had basically already signed agreeing to one thing (their offer) and they wouldn't change their figures. At that point we said that amount wasn't what we were interested in paying, so the purchase was off. Later that same day the salesperson called us indicating that if we were still in the area he'd like for us to come by so their "new car guy" could have another look at our car and we could make the deal happen. I would not have gone back because of their refusal to honor the original deal, which was their incorrect math not ours, but my husband had us out testing driving other vehicles and wanted to give them another shot. We went back, gave them the keys to our car and waited for the "new deal". The next offer was the EXACT same as it should have been the day earlier using correct math! They had alot of figures that included "dealer incentives" and basically our salesperson couldn't tell us what all those numbers represented but assured us they were essentially "giving this car away" and that we were "getting a better price than employee pricing". The monthly figure was more than we were interested in paying. He asked us for another monthly number, we actually gave him a number between the original deal and what the new offer was and he went to talk to the GM. He came back offering a few dollars less ONLY if we cut out one of the options we wanted! At that point I was done "negotiating" as this dealer was not only NOT willing to honor a deal we made (without an actual car on the lot) based on a mistake of THEIRS not ours, he wasn't willing to budge on ANY price related to the car (our trade-in allowance, the option packages, nothing!). The salesperson asked us several times to "come up a little to work with them". In fact we had, by $50/month, and they wanted us to come up another $30/month! I told our salesperson 'no deal', asked for our car keys, and tried to leave. By then I realized they hadn't even looked at our current vehicle to "re-evaluate" it, they were just holding on to our keys to try to keep us there. Our salesperson spent another 5 mins behind his GMs closed door while our family waited outside. Then, when he came back, he offered us a higher interest rate for a longer payment period, as if that would satisfy our monthly payment plan desire. All in all, we test drove about 5 different vehicle types before deciding we wanted the Saab. Unfortunately, West County Saab wouldn't honor their deal (although clearly expected us to adhere to the deal we'd signed with them earlier!) and lost a sale. I would not recommend this dealer. More
