Both gentlemen were professional, good humored and didn't play the "what kind of payment are you looking at game" which is a major turnoff to me. Mat in the finance department is a gem as well. There is a reason Jim and John have been there seven years and Mat 10 years. They are good at what they do. More

No hassle, no bargaining...just "...here's what I want...", "...we'll get it for you....here it is!"....and Tom Calkins, Matt, and W'County staff. Tom makes me and my wife happy to buy and...when my wife is happy....you know the rest! I didn't even know that I needed a new car. p.s. if you're reading this and don't own a Volvo, call Tom Calkins! More
I do not like to shop for vehicles. I know what I want and do most of my shopping before ever going to a dealership. When I contacted Jim Carpenter, he negotiated with me over e-mail until I was satisfied enough that I could get what I was looking for and be comfortable with the price. Needless to say, I went back to Jim a second time and had the same wonderful experience. He is very knowledgeable about how the entire process works and was willing to assist me with the details. I am very happy wiht Volvos (this is my fourth, third from this dealership)and this dealership is always easy to work with on service, etc. I recommend Jim to anyone and you will really enjoy his stories!!! I also appreciate how he continues to check on me to see if everything is going well with my vehicle. More
My experience was positive. Yet, unique. I went in with my daughter to look for a new car on a Friday evening and by the next Wednesday evening, she bought a car and so did I. I've always loved Volvo fo my daughter to look for a new car on a Friday evening and by the next Wednesday evening, she bought a car and so did I. I've always loved Volvo for their safety ratings, and now I love them for their looks too. Our sales person was not available the Wednesday evening we stopped in, therefore, Ken stepped in. He was great to work with. Quick to react and respond. He answered my questions and was to the point. Within minutes of my arrival Wednesday evening, he had me test driving the car I liked and answered all of my questions. The financing was also quick, and painless. Often you sit through lengthy conversations regarding extra warranties and so on. Ken was quick and to the point again. Understanding our driving situation and need regarding our existing cars, he had everything narrowed down to just a couple of choices for us to review. Overall, great experience. More
I have more than 20 years experience in Corporate Executive Sales, and have had several luxury car-buying experiences, and although the cars are very nice, I always dread the car buying experience (w Executive Sales, and have had several luxury car-buying experiences, and although the cars are very nice, I always dread the car buying experience (worse than going to the dentist). In fact last time I needed a car I decided to avoid it & paid cash for a client's car just so I wouldn't have to go through the pain! However meeting Jim Carpenter changed my mind about car buying forever. What a great guy, a true southern gentleman, and a pleasure to deal with! This is our third Volvo, and when we need our 4th, Jim's definitely going to be our guy! I've already referred a friend to him, and hope to give more business to him in the future, since he earned & deserves it! Although we were non-plussed with some of the other individuals at the dealership, we hung in there because Jim was patient, informative, has good closing skills and excellent follow up skills, and was able to overcome any of the other obstacles to make the transaction work out. Tom and everyone else at the West County Motor Company have absolutely figured out what "right" looks like in the auto sales business. We were in town from from our home town (90 minutes aw have absolutely figured out what "right" looks like in the auto sales business. We were in town from from our home town (90 minutes away) on a Saturday afternoon when we decided to take a look at a used Saab we had seen on the dealership's website. We called about 20 minutes before arriving at the dealership, and expected we'd have to take our chances. We were greeted by name as we walked in the door, and you'd have thought they'd had days to prepare for our visit! The car was being prepared for our test drive, and we had a great informal chat with Tom while we waited. The car was in great shape, there was no hard sell (no "sell" at all - admittedly, the Saabs and Volvos kind of sell themselves)... we finished our test drive and decided to purchase on our drive back to the dealership. We expected we'd have to make arrangements to come back a few days later to take delivery, but were able to drive our new car home with us! This was one of the two best car buying experiences I've had in more than 15 transactions over the past 30+ years - thanks to Tom and all the other great folks at West County Motor Company! More
