I have owned multiple vehicles and worked with many service departments over the years, but my recent experience at Volvo Cars West County was the worst I have ever encountered. Summary of Issues wi service departments over the years, but my recent experience at Volvo Cars West County was the worst I have ever encountered. Summary of Issues with Service Department: 1. Ignored Major Safety Concern I reported a severe steering wheel vibration occurring at speeds over 70 mph. The technician stated “no vibrations” were detected during service. The vehicle entered service with 19,337 miles and was returned with 19,339 miles. The nearest highway where 70 mph can be safely reached is approximately 4 miles from the dealership. It is questionable whether a thorough highway-speed test was performed. 2. Pre-existing Vehicle Problems Dismissed as ‘Normal’ Brakes: Non-linear response and abrupt stop at low speed. Auto Stop-Start: Harsh jolt when releasing brake pedal; engages in extreme temperatures reducing climate control effectiveness. Dangerous acceleration lag when turning into traffic. Key recognition failures at startup and unlocking. Infotainment: Sporadic Bluetooth connection, random blackouts, sound dropouts (including turn signal audio), and radio switching on without input. Instrument cluster: Inaccurate MPG and range readings. Rear right vibration and squeak near exhaust. All were dismissed by the technician as “operating as designed,” despite these not being present in competing vehicles. 3. Poor Communication and Misrepresentation of Service Timeline The service coordinator stated the car would be in service for 1 to possibly 2 days and that I would receive a call when it was ready. On the 3rd day, after no call, I phoned the dealership and was told it was ready. The service paperwork shows the car was “in service” for only 1 day, raising questions about the actual timeline and communication. Bottom Line: This was a 0 out of 10 experience. Safety concerns were not properly tested, documented issues were dismissed, and communication was poor. For a brand that positions itself as a leader in safety and quality, this level of service is unacceptable. I would recommend avoiding Volvo Cars West County based on this experience. More

Here are facts, you can decide. Purchased my 2024 Volvo certified used Volvo S60 vehicle on January 11, 2025. It had about 14k miles. At home, my wife mentioned that the passenger side looked different but I really did not notice anything odd, just figured it was the light or angle she saw. On March 18, took the car to the carwash and as I was drying it off, I noticed the paint falling off on the passenger side in a couple of spots. The next morning I took the car to a friend at a body shop. He looked at the car and in 1 minute said the entire passenger side has been repainted/repaired and poorly. He started showing me the different ways to tell. I immediately drove over to the dealership and spoke to the salesperson. I know I was frustrated that you buy a 2024 Certified Volvo with a 170 point inspection and a clean CarFax and learn the entire side has a horrible repair. The sales person understood and said let me talk to my sales manager. He came back and said we will buy it back for what you paid and you can get an another vehicle. I started looking for other vehicles and there was really no inventory like the vehicle I purchased. I texted the next morning just to apologize for being frustrated the day before and he said he understood and that they were looking for something similar. I would check the website daily and nothing. April 3rd I texted if there had been any luck locating a vehicle. Salesperson responded no and if there were any other models that interested me and I said only XC60 which I knew was more expensive but I was honest because I was asked. I figured maybe we can make it work and thought to myself I would pay some difference if they found something because it was more car. April 10th I texted to see what was up and said I wanted to stop in to talk to him and the sales manager to have a heart to heart on the matter. I discussed what were options in my mind. 1. They locate a similar vehicle from another store and I shared some I found. 2. They repair it correctly. 3. They just buy it back and I walk away with whatever equity I had. 4. Trade in the car for something similar even though a bit more on the sticker price. They said those were not options and that they really did not have to do anything so the trade in for the value is what they would do. Obviously I left there pretty frustrated but I kept checking daily. Even talked to 2 body shops about just eating the cost to get it repaired and they said it would be at 3-4K and you would run the risk that it could be more because you have no idea what the other repair did. April 30th - No communication from the dealer but finally saw a couple of similar cars although not in colors I really wanted. Stopped in and drove them. I noticed they were 20% more than what I paid and I mentioned that. I also mentioned they were nice although the colors were not my favorites but I wanted to get this nightmare resolved. He said the price is what it is. Again I left frustrated. As I was not really wanting to pay 20% more for the same car. I started looking at lesser models because the price was only 5% more than what I paid. Frustrated I thought I just need to get this over. May 1st - decide to cut my losses and just pick one. When I went in I noticed that on the lesser models the window sticker had now gone up even though they had been sitting there for 3 months. The similar model’s price was also increased on the sticker but not yet on the website so I said I would take it as now the difference was not much. I figured if they tried to charge me the sticker I would show them their website. Luckily they respected the website price (still 20% more than what I paid a few months prior) and no discount or reduction by the dealer. I did take the car to the body before buying. 2 weeks later - my original car on the lot for sale 10% more than what they gave me and carfax still clean. You decide if this is the place for you. More
