Our first electric car and Hillary was very helpful navigating the various Federal, State, and other benefits of an electric vehicle. A bit overwhelming. Hillary and a other staff were very helpful. The ID4 has amazing functions far beyond what any other vehicle we have owned. That said, Hillary was very helpful. If she couldn't provide an answer on the spot she would get it for us. I hope our collaboration with Hillary and Shearer continues helping us enjoy and use our latest VW purchase. I would not hesitate to send family or friends to Shearer VW for purchase or service. More
Our salesperson Trista was a pleasure to work with. Helpful from start to finish. I would recommend her to anyone thinking of a lease or purchase of a new VW. Helpful from start to finish. I would recommend her to anyone thinking of a lease or purchase of a new VW. More

Absolutely terrible company to work with. We ordered an ID.4 in April 2021. It was supposed to arrive to us in 6-8 months. In April 2022, Shearer called us to say that our car was finally on the way. They low-balled us on our trade, and when I asked if there was any wiggle room, the salesman suggested selling it on our own. He said "you have 2 weeks to sell your car". So we did (to a much nicer dealership down the street), for $6k more than their trade offer. 2 weeks go by and our car hasn't arrived. Come to find out, they messed up and our car was never actually on its way. It took many phone calls and much confusion to get this information. I'm talking many, many hours on the phone. So we are down to one car, which is not feasible in our family as my husband and I work in 2 completely different directions. We spent hours on the phone with VW and Shearer and finally got them to pay for a loaner for us. It was entirely their fault that we sold our vehicle; we wouldn't have sold it if the sales guy didn't tell us to, so it was completely justified for them to cover this cost. If we could have gotten by with one car as a family, we would have. But unfortunately we couldn't. Fast forward another month and our car finally arrives. But wait! Pre-delivery inspection found a bunch of issues and they couldn't deliver it to us. No one could tell us what was going on. The service manager told us it wasn't safe to drive, and he wouldn't buy that particular car if it were him. He suspected it would need an entirely new drivetrain. We contacted our sales guy again asking if we could swap our for a different car so we didn't end up with a lemon. Mind you, as all this was going on, they STILL had no idea what the problem was with our car and still hadn't heard from VW. 2 more weeks go by without any communication whatsoever from Shearer. We'd had it by this point. We didn't trust what they were selling us, and we sure didn't want to buy a new car that had a bunch of new parts already. So we started looking around and luckily found another car to suit our needs, albeit more expensive than our ID.4. But at least it passed inspection and actually worked. We returned the Shearer-funded rental and got the receipt confirming that they paid for it. Fast forward 2 months later, and we get a call from Hertz (the rental company that Shearer used) saying that VW had changed the invoice from "paid" to "customer owes". I'm not sure how you "change" an invoice 2 months after it has been paid, but not only that, instead of VW/Shearer coming after us (which they have absolutely NO right to do), they screwed Hertz and are making them come after us. We knew we'd be waiting a long time for our vehicle. That's not the issue here. The issue is that they TOLD us to sell our current vehicle because our new car was on its way. None of this would have been an issue if they hadn't advised us of that. The issue was compounded when our car finally arrived with a myriad of issues making it unsafe to drive. Now, they are trying to get us to pay for the rental that we only had because SHEARER told us to sell our car. Stay FAR FAR away from Shearer and VW. They will do whatever they can to protect themselves and their bottom line and are willing to throw anyone under the bus to do that. Horrible, horrible company to deal with. More

The service department almost killed me after my vehicle went in for warranty work and was inspected. The rear brakes were totally shot and they did not tell me. While traveling out of state my brakes faile went in for warranty work and was inspected. The rear brakes were totally shot and they did not tell me. While traveling out of state my brakes failed. Where? The mix-master on I-91 in Hartford, CT. I had to pay to tow the vehicle off the highway and over $1000.00 to have it fixed. I called the service manager Eric Smith to inform him of his technician's gross negligence and to recoup the money I spent fixing the problem they created. He immediately copped with an attitude and basically called me a liar. Small problem with that Eric. The vehicle was towed to a VW dealer where the work was completed. They stated, "why didn't they tell you just to replace the pads... you didn't need a whole brake job... this could have killed you... find another dealer in VT because these guys are beyond stupid" Do yourself a favor. Never let Shearer VW work or inspect your vehicle. Especially if you have loved ones you want to see tonight. More
Austin Hemingway was absolutely Amazing to work with on my son’s 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. As a woman entering a dealership I am always hesitant of who I will be working with. I’ve been thrown through the rin my son’s 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. As a woman entering a dealership I am always hesitant of who I will be working with. I’ve been thrown through the ringer many times in the past and have paid more then I needed because I would trust that the person I’m working with has my back and will fix the problem and bill accordingly. Austin was honest, professional. And he went over and beyond to make sure the car was done correctly and efficiently. I recommend Shearer Volkswagen of South Burlington for your Volkswagen service needs and ask for Austin he won’t let you down. More
