Some very unsure & inexperienced salesmen started out with me, however later I had a more helpful salesman & I purchased the car I came in to see. I bought my 2012 Tiguan new from another VW dealer. I have taken it to VW of Salem for the past several years for service and have always found everyone to be helpful and pleasant. I now have a more major mechanical issue that I have scheduled for evaluation and repair. I believe the issue is mostly related to a failing water pump. I hope all goes well with the repair/s and that I can get my Tiguan back on the road with reliability. At this point, I have been really happy with Salem VW and have given a 5 star rating. I will follow-up after the upcoming diagnosis and repair/s. I am optimistic that the rating will maintain itself. More

The sales rep, Sam, and the finance manager, Jesse, were very personable, which made the purchasing process easygoing. No pushy salesman pitches or forceful sales tactics. On April 3rd, 2023 my husband and I purchased a Model 3 Tesla from Lithia. Sam was our sales associate. The vehicle had some scratches and dents on the rear bumper, and a broken driver side mirror. We wrote into the purchasing contract that it would be fixed for us. Chris was the sales manager that OK'd the contract. After signing the agreement, Sam told us the vehicle would be ready to go within one day with the mirror fixed. This changed to three days, and then we were told we could take the vehicle and that we would receive a call within 2 weeks to schedule repairs to be fixed on a future date. We took the vehicle home on April 4th. We didn't receive a phone call until April 18th from Ben in services to schedule the fixes. My husband brought the vehicle in on April 26th, at 7:30 am. At this time, he talked to Ben about painting over another scratch on the car, but he told him that they would not even paint the damaged bumper-that they would only fix the dents, not the paint because that was what was written into the agreement. We were under the impression that the damage would be fixed completely. Then, we were told WE were going to pay for a rental car for this one day fix. This turned into a three day job. They did cover the cost of the rental car for our inconvenience. My husband called Ben around 2:50 pm on the 28th and was told the vehicle was completely ready, and that they needed to go get it from Flemings. Upon picking the car up, the rear damage was not fixed. As well as this, the car was tracked going 75 mph in a 25-30mph zone at 3:06 pm. Within a 1 mile trip, the car used 487/wh/mi which diminished 2 percent of its charge, when on average it uses 233/wh/mi per trip. This led us to believe the car was driven very recklessly in the hands of this dealership. Upon approaching the sales staff about the situation, an associate (we didn't get his name) claimed the car was picked up at 2:30. This was not true based upon the phone call timestamp where my husband got off the phone at 2:57, and was told that the vehicle was not on their lot at this time. Ben apologized for the miscommunication on the rear damage, but they had the car for three days, and this didn't get fixed. He told us that their Tesla tech is only there on Wednesday's, but they had the car at 7:30 am on Wednesday. We don't understand why the damage was not taken care of. We were told to contact Greg, the service manager on Monday. They were the ones to mistreat our property, so I don't think it should be our job to contact their management for this situation. We are extremely disappointed with how we were treated at this business, feel taken advantage of, and hate that our property was misused as well. This is not an ethical way to do business. They have lost all credibility. This dealership has good deals on car, but seriously, SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! Beware, do not let them work on your car, and do not purchase a vehicle from them. This has been a hassle to deal with, and they still have not completed their part of the contract. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau for this mess and will bring this to court if necessary. Good communication with the customer about the stages of progress in what was a lengthy repair. When my car was partly dismantled I was shown, in person during the repair process, the car's condition and specific failures that were being corrected. That was invaluable, illuminating, and much appreciated. More
