My wife and I visited Autobarn VW because we were looking to get back into a smaller SUV. We've been doing business with Autobarn for over 10 years and I believe this may be the 11th purchase from our family to get back into a smaller SUV. Its always a pleasure visiting the Autobarn and seeing friendly familiar faces each and every time. I met Raffi and Vic over 10 years ago and they are always warm and inviting and have always provided us with a stellar buying experience. We made our first purchase from Graciano in January of this year and it was awesome seeing him again. Graciano is extremely polite, very inviting, and knows the product line exceptionally well. He was also excellent with communicating with my wife and I via phone the day of the purchase prior to our arrival. This is a low stress, low pressure buying experience that the wonderful staff at Autobarn provides to their customer. Autobarn VW offers the complete package. Right off the bat, I had a very good feeling about this dealership. Everyone I dealt with on the internet before making the trip down was very pleasant and easy to deal with. I made the hour+ drive down to the dealership, spent a few hours talking to a wonderful salesman who didn't rush me and made sure that I felt important as a customer and as a car-buyer, and eventually made a purchase of a 2011 pre-owned certified Golf. I loved it! A few days after the purchase, I noticed a slight rattling/shake when going around corners. It was a different car than I was used to driving so I didn't think anything of it. Eventually, over the next few weeks, that rattling progressed into a violent shaking when accelerating. Thinking it was just something simple like the suspension or the torque converter, I brought it to a local dealership to get it checked out under warranty. I was shocked to find out that there was a crack/clean break in the subframe of the car. I had only had it 3 weeks and hadn't even received my new plates in the mail yet. There was no other damage to any part of the car, including the body, which seemed odd because I had only driven the car for a little over 900 miles and only on the smooth highway to work and back. (I've also never heard of car frames breaking from running over something small on a clean road.) It's pretty hard to explain damage that you didn't knowingly cause to your car insurance, so I wasn't able to report any sort of claim and had to pay $1,000 out of pocket to fix the subframe of the car. (There was still a bent axle causing the initial shaking that hadn't been fixed and will most likely require additional funds on my end to correct.). After a lot of going back and forth with the Sales Manager of the dealership, I was finally put in touch with the General Manager, Vic Jalili, after he saw my initial review on this site. He was as helpful as he was able to be. He offered to pay for half of the initial repairs, assuring me the car was not sold to me in that condition. I wouldn't go as far as to say I don't recommend this dealership as I believe that they have every intention of providing quality service and vehicles. I suppose the offer they made me was "fair" but I feel like they could have easily completely fixed my car for a little more than they paid me in cash, which would have completely satisfied me and left me coming back for years to come. Either way, the offer they made was "Ok" in my eyes, so I'm leaving an "Ok" review. The rest of the car is in great condition and I'm overall still satisfied with the purchase. It's just a bit troubling to sink $500+ into a car that could be going towards paying off the rest of it. As a final note, I will say that Graciano in sales and Michelle in the registration/title department were both very great. They helped me whenever asked and never got annoyed with my "abundance" of questions. More

I am giving this rating because of the high service quality of this dealership. Unlike other dealers I have been to before, which is small and staff are not friendly, the staff here is very friendly an quality of this dealership. The guys there are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to listen to what I wanted prior to actually going to the dealership. I explained to Allan that I had an extremely busy schedule and he made my life easier by communicating with me via email and phone prior to me visiting the dealership. I really loved the fact that the transaction was completed in a time efficient manner. Rafi and Vic took the time to help me out with getting the best price possible. Also they gave a great rate on the loan, better than what I had expected. These guys will go above an beyond to make a customer satisfied, they made sure I was satisfied with the purchase, and I appreciated that the most. After purchasing my vehicle John Paul kindly assisted me with minor details (Fix A few scratches, Detail and wash the car, etc.). John has gone above and beyond to make sure I was 100% satisfied. There are many auto sales possibilities much nearer our home on the South Side of Chicago, but we had no hesitation making the longer trip north to Mt Prospect, given our past very positive experience there.
