I bought my Jetta at this dealership in 2002. At that time the dealership appeared to be great and the people there prided themselves in a "5-star rating." Between then and now (2013), all the stars hav time the dealership appeared to be great and the people there prided themselves in a "5-star rating." Between then and now (2013), all the stars have burned out. Jetta timing belt replacement #1--mechanic took a shortcut and didn't replace the tensioner (included with the kit). 80K miles later the tensioner failed causing $4,000 worth of damage. Craig explained that it had been replaced but it apparently was bad part--highly unlikely. I accepted his explanation at the time and paid. Jetta timing belt replacement #2--mechanic did not tighten all the bolts to the water pump (the water pump is in the timing belt area toward the bottom of the engine). A bolt came loose and rattled around inside the timing belt cover damaging the belt, the cover and several pulleys. They repaired the damage but didn't have a replacement cover. Craig said he would send one to me (I would put it on). It never arrived. Later, he said he sent it back to the warehouse in error but that he would order it again and send it. It has never arrived. Passat hard-to-start problem--I drove this car to Dean McCrary asking them to diagnose the problem. This car was in their shop (or parked in the parking lot not being worked on) for more than 6 weeks. They explained that they didn't have the expertise to find the problem, but that I was on the hook for $1700 for the work they had done so far. The car was not drive-able. They had put on a brand new valve cover ($250 and not at all related to the problem) to trump up the bill. They replaced an injector at a cost of $750 (The old injector later was determined to be good). I had to get nasty with Craig about the bill. I insisted upon speaking to his boss, Vick. Vick agreed to waive the entire bill except for the cost of the replaced injector. If the injector turned out not to be necessary in the ultimate repair, they would refund the $750. I towed the car to another VW dealer where it was ultimately repaired. The mechanic gave me back the injector Dean McCrary installed so I could get a refund. Craig refused to issue a refund for it. Vick was "in a meeting" while I was there and could not be bothered to approve the refund. He never returned my calls about the matter. I still have the injector and was screwed out of the $750 by Dean McCrary and their poor customer service. I have come to the conclusion that they spend most of their energy on prepping new cars for sale and doing simple repairs on nearly new cars like oil changes and checking tire pressure. They have one VW mechanic who is under extreme pressure to do everything. One only has to sit in the waiting room and observe to see that they are completely overwhelmed by service issues, complaints, problems, missed deadlines, high repair costs being explained, etc. The dealership has too few mechanics and puts very little resources in the service department. The mechanics are pressured for time and therefore have incentive to cut corners. This is very bad for the customer and the health of the car. More

I used to get great service at this dealership until the Touareg expert left. Now they are just "guessing" as to nature of problems and this is done at my expense. In addition, they don't support the custom Touareg expert left. Now they are just "guessing" as to nature of problems and this is done at my expense. Marginal dealer service at best; very surprising, givent that they sell some high end new cars (Porsch/Audi). Maybe those customers are treated better than the meager VW customers. Will go out of town nex that they sell some high end new cars (Porsch/Audi). Maybe those customers are treated better than the meager VW customers. Will go out of town next time for my VW needs. More

We had paid for ever We purchased our 2010 Sportwagen new from Dean Mcreary. Service was mediocre up until we had issues with our panoramic sunroof. We had paid for everything recommended at each service. At 43,000 miles our sunroof wouldn't close. They told us that the frame had gotten bent from no lubrication and excessive dirt. We had paid $780.00 for our 40,000 mile service which included cleaning.and lubing tracks. We.were told that they would.get back to us. Each time we have spoken with Mr. Healy, he can not remember us or our issues. We have been through his boss Mr. Duarte to no avail. We now have 70,000 miles on our VW and are planning on trading for another today. It WILL NOT BE DEAN MCREARY! I can not speak for his experience, but my grandfather had a bad experience with this dealer also. He warned me, but I didn't listen. I hope that this will at least make someone aware of what may happen to them if they fall for all hoopla shown in sales and read all the letters of praise the dealership has hanging on their walls from customers. If you take notice of these letters, they all come from Porsche owners...if money can't buy happiness, but evidently it can buy you a good service experience at this dealership. More
My interactions with this dealership initially took place over the phone. I live in Louisiana and they are located in Alabama. We began by having numerous phone conversations following a Consumer Reports over the phone. I live in Louisiana and they are located in Alabama. We began by having numerous phone conversations following a Consumer Reports online price quote. The only name I care to remember is Ashley. She is a new car internet-sales person. She was always pleasant when she spoke to me. Unfortunately, she soon became uninvolved in my purchase. Before I agreed to buy a car, I told them that I did not want a car with more than a few miles on it. In fact, I very specifically described to Ashley, and later to her manager, everything that I was looking for. They said that my requests would not be a problem. They contacted me at a later time to say that a vehicle meeting my expectations was located. We discussed how the process would work given that the car was at another dealership. They reviewed our credit and told me what our finance rate would be. I tentatively agreed to make a purchase. I was told that some details had to be worked out and that they would call me back. During a later phone call, I discovered that the car of interest had 150+ miles on it. As I recalled to myself that they raised the price above the original quote, I became worried. The current miles on the car was not volunteered. I was concerned that there would be other such revelations after my family drove two and a half to three hours to get to them. I asked if they could email or text me a picture of the car so that I knew what I was agreeing to. When I expressed this concern, the manager was overly defensive and became hostile. He gave me a ten minute lecture which included a rant about how he sells $200,000 cars. I hesitantly decided to continue with the sale because I wanted the whole car buying experience over with. I was told when the car would be available. My wife and I made plans to make the trip. Hours before we left Louisiana, I was notified that the car had arrived at their dealership. Then when we got into town, I was told that they were not ready for us. We went to dinner and waited about ninety minutes or so before going to the dealership. After spending the next couple of hours there, waiting for the finance manager and then filling out all the paperwork, we were told that they were not able to clean up the car. At this point, I still was not made familiar with the options/workings of the car. They said that I would need to come back the next day to take care of these issues. -I'm guessing that if I were to purchase one of their $200,000 cars, I would receive better service- The finance manager rushed us through the paperwork and we were told that they were closing for the evening. Our four month old baby began to cry. He needed to be breast fed. So my wife decided to nurse him in the back seat of her car before we would head out. We were promptly invited to park on the street because they wanted to lock the dealership's barricade. My wife, myself and our three children left the dealership. We spent the night at a relatives house in Pensacola to cut our travel time. As it was, we still had an hour to the house and another hour to return to the dealer the next day. While laying in bed, I discovered unexpected values in the paperwork we had already signed. We returned to the dealer the next morning. As I waited for the finance manager, the car was taken to be cleaned. As it turned out, the finance person tried to take advantage of us. He increased the financing by percent 2 percent above the agreed rate without saying so. I had to argue with him to them to get this fixed. He said "well, you're going to pay off the loan early, aren't you?" When I agreed that we sometimes do so, he told me that since I was likely going to pay off the loan early, the difference in the rate did not matter. The difference turned out to be about $30 a month. Again, if I had the money to purchase a $200,000 car, $30 a month would indeed be insignificant. The finance person also charged me a higher tax rate than was due. When I drew his attention to this, he barked at me that they would send me a check for the difference. I should have debated this point as well but I was sickened by the amount of time and effort I had already put into the transaction. When I headed out the door to the car, I could see that the car was still dirty. I sat into the car with a sales person. The interior was dirty as well. The sales person did not know how to sync my phone to the car. He also did not understand how to operate the navigation system. After some 45 minutes of watching him struggle, I told him not to worry about it. It is now February of 2012. The dealership has yet to deliver the taxes and paperwork to the state for this purchase -which took place in mid November, 2011. I still do not have my plate and registration or brake tag. I have visited the office of motor vehicles several times. This last time, they told me that they can only wait for the dealer to do its part. Up until then, I wrongly assumed that the DMV had dropped the ball. I have left messages with the dealer over the past few days. I have yet to receive a response. More
This tops the cake of all dealerships I have ever been to. I find this wonderful Pontiac Grand Prix GTP for sale during their big sales event for $5,995 on several websites linking me to Dean McCrary. So, I call and get a nice salesman telling me oh yeah thats the price it even comes with lifetime power train warranty. So I drive FOUR hours to his dealership. I test drive the car and am ready to purchase the car. I brought $5K cash but that wasn't enough so I applied for their financing and get approved for $10K. Wow, ok thats nice the car is supposed to be $5,995. All of a sudden the price must have been wrong on all these websites because the price is $7,995. Why after getting my approval for $10K is the car almost $8K when it was supposed to be almost $6K?!?!? So, I wasted my vacation time plus my gas and having to eat out for nothing. Paul Brewer the general sales manager told me that he has no control over mistypes on their website, but one hour after I leave the websites price is changed at 8pm??? Its also funny how about six other websites linking you to the main website all have the same weird typo?!?!? Avoid this place at all costs, don't fall for their tricks, and certainly don't waste your gas driving there unless you got a price etched in stone. Not even their own website or salesman are reliable More
