Dan and his boss Ron in your service department took a look at my roughly idling Jeep Wrangler and after apparently flinging a dart at a wall of possibilities written on post its, they decided we needed t look at my roughly idling Jeep Wrangler and after apparently flinging a dart at a wall of possibilities written on post its, they decided we needed to replace the entire engine. Meanwhile back on planet reality what you SHOULD have done was dismantled the header to clean out the carbon build up to reveal that the #3 piston was misfiring due to a fracture in the value. But the dart had spoken, so you insisted the entire engine had to be throw into the garbage along with the last of my lingering faith in humanity. The warranty company called your bluff (yay) and demanded that the engine header be dismantled to look around and... you know... actually see what the problem was. Must have been irritating when they forced you to do your job. They caught you lying, denied my claim, and your company then turned to me with a giant clown smile that died long ago and tried sticking me with a bill that was in excess of $3K. That's a lot of money and I know I can do it at an actually fair price elsewhere, but when I tried to tow my Jeep to save it from your fumbling hands, I was informed it would be a $400 just for the exciting privilege of getting taken advantage by you. When I called back a second time, I was told it was going to be $1000 because you tore the engine apart without any plans of putting it back together (as is required by state law to be able to return the vehicle to me in the same condition that it came to you). Then on my third call you told me $400 again. Not sure what cocktail napkin you were passing around to keep track of these fair and reasonable charges, because your repair estimate was a joke as it didn't include hourly labor or repair actions, was missing page two, and had hand written numbers! Does your corporate training department get their material from nickelodeon? Any technician I have shown a picture of the cylinder to this has laughed at your spectacular failure and have assured me that, "No one can possibly know that the entire engine is bad after putting a scope camera into one cylinder and seeing that. They were either lazy or dishonest." I've towed it to another dealership where it's being fixed for a fraction of the cost and no... an entirely new engine is extreme overkill for fixing this. That's like saying, "I really need to buy a new house because the kitchen light went out." That's you. That's what you sound like. Now... One of two things happened. Either you are inept at what you do, which is pretty unbelievable since this is your vocation, or you lied on purpose to try to get more money. Gross negligence or deceit? So... since you lied, I'm stuck with the bill now. You looked at me with those dead shark eyes and tried to steal over $3K from my pocket. I have since learned that your service managers get paid ON COMMISSION. Yup. That's a thing. That is as slimy as a tobacco lobbyist who, "Knows what's best," for future generations. You did not diagnose the problem, you lied about what was needed, you send the wrong VIN at first to the warranty company, you CUT THE BOLTS OFF THE HEADER instead of removing them for the inspection, you made up numbers for my to pay after refusing to reassemble my vehicle, you provided a repair invoice without labor hours or labor actions, or numbers from your system (all required by NY DMV), and I know for a fact that you need my signature to approve of any service charges before charging me. That is a lot of laws to break. Lot O' laws. My one question (if this TLDR complaint reaches them) is to ask, "Do you feel ashamed of what you did?" I genuinely hope you do, because if you don't then that means you've sold your soul to dealership. Talk about low standards. You should've at least gotten a golden fiddle out of it or the ability to shoot lasers from your eyes. I will be reporting you to the Better Business Bureau and encourage all those you've wronged to do the same. I award you no points and may God have mercy upon your soul. More
