Wanted to express a situation that could have caused an accident and possible injury due to improper maintenance performed on my vehicle. Earlier in the month my Sonata Hybrid was brought in for a software accident and possible injury due to improper maintenance performed on my vehicle. Earlier in the month my Sonata Hybrid was brought in for a software update due to a recall, A few weeks after this update while traveling on the Freeway, traveling approx. 70mph the HEV system failed causing the vehicle to decelerate from 70mph to 45mph in just a few seconds. With this rapid deceleration could have possible lead to an accident and injury in certain scenarios. I was lucky as I was able to get to the far right lane and exit almost immediately. The issue found at the dealership was when they performed the update they didn't do it correctly which caused vehicles HEV system to shut down. Also it took 3 weeks for them to diagnose and perform the update correctly which seems ridiculous for such a minor maintenance task. The only reason I'm not rating lower as the service rep stated that their Shop Lead addressed this issue with the entire team to ensure they perform this task correctly as it posses a safety issue which at least to me they took this seriously. One other minor issue was during the three weeks it was in the shop I never got any calls from the service center keeping me updated as I had to call several times to find out the statues. All in all if I have any maintenance that requires me to go to a dealership I'll be taking it to somewhere other than here even though this is the closet location as I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or this reflects their maintenances practices. This was my first visit to this dealership. So here are the positives: 1. Came in without service appointment for recall maintenance, but was treated like a long term scheduled and paying customer. I have a Genesis 3.8 (G80), I am so stoked about the car that short of passing gas in my car and spilling coffee on my seats, there is little that could upset me. That being said I initially declined to purchase a new battery but after a good lunch, changed my mind and went back. Again no problem, took me right in. Replaced my battery, gave me instructions on using the vehicle technology, a free cup of coffee, and an overall good feeling. This is now MY dealership! Love them, love my car and my life. No more... no negatives! More
