I came to Vandevere Kia looking at options to move into a bigger vehicle. I currently have a ‘22 Kia Seltos & was interested in the Sportage. Dave Sabitina was my salesperson & was very helpful & informative bigger vehicle. I currently have a ‘22 Kia Seltos & was interested in the Sportage. The reason the average consumer HATES car shopping are stories like this. I went to Vandevere Kia in Akron today as I have 3 months left on my Kia Seltos lease. I had previously stopped to test drive and stories like this. I went to Vandevere Kia in Akron today as I have 3 months left on my Kia Seltos lease. I had previously stopped to test drive and get some numbers from Kia of Streetsboro. I worked with a salesman Dave a couple times this past month trying to get into a new lease for a Kia Sorento. I found the PERFECT version that I was looking for so we immediately started to talk numbers. From the moment I sat down, I explained to Dave I needed two things: 15k miles/year and under $500 payment with nothing down but my trade in equity of $3500. Dave came back with two different offer sheets of $525+. I explained that I truly like my car and I can just buy it outright instead if we can’t hit a number. My current payment of $261/month is a far jump to anything over $500, so I needed to stay under that mark. Dave comes back from the manager one last time and brings back a sheet that has hand written notes in bright green marker. “$479 per month with $479 down!” BOOM! I was so pumped! I only asked if he would roll the $479 down into the lease and they said no problem. So now were at $494 per month and I couldn’t be happier. We start paperwork. Take off plates. Remove keys. Download the app and register new car into the app, etc. An hour later, I finally get to finance. The first thing finance shows is $494 per month with ONLY 12k miles/year. I immediately asked for Dave to come back and show me where it ever went to 12k miles. It was always 15k miles. On the original printed sheet they presented me, it said 15k miles. He told me it would be an additional $19 per month for the extra miles. I told him my goal was to come here with a $500 payment in mind and that I had $6 bucks if they wanted to do $500 per month for 15k miles or else I would walk. After a few minutes with his manager, they would not budge. So I walked. I unregistered the new car on the app. Put the plates back on. Added my keys back to my keyring, etc. Whoever it was, tried to pull a fast one. Reducing the miles to hit my price point without ever showing me (until finance) is the type of maneuver that makes people not want to deal with sales associates and dealers in general. 24 years ago I bought my first car from Vandevere. In that time, I have bought 4 additional of my own and (3 more for family relatives). The manager asked me in 1999 before I walked out, if I would give repeat business in the future and I told him absolutely. 7 cars later, I have kept my word. I will not buy another car from Vandevere Kia in Akron, OH. I have two sons close to driving age and as wife’s car whose lease is up soon. We will not be back. They wanted to lose a car deal (with half of the paperwork signed) over $13 per month. Not only did they lose this car deal, but they lost multiple car purchases over the next 30+ years over shady practices. It’s like going to Best Buy, saying you have $500 for a 60” TV, finalizing a deal and learning you bought a 40” TV. Last time I will step foot into Vandevere Kia in Akron. I hope this review helps prevent future misleading practices from them as I would NOT recommend their company. More
Came into look at full size SUV and ended up leaving with a Telluride. Can’t say enough about David Sabitina he answered all of our questions and can’t say enough about the Warranty Forever. Dave Sabitina at VanDevere Kia was a delight to work with! I went in only for a test drive, because I was sure the vehicle I wanted was not going to be available for quite some time.
