Terrible Service I brought my Silverado in for the 100k service on April 17, 2017. The service rep seemed nice enough when I brought it in. I asked how much it would I brought my Silverado in for the 100k service on April 17, 2017. The service rep seemed nice enough when I brought it in. I asked how much it would cost to get the service done and he said it’s hard to know what it needs without looking at. He said that I could just get an oil change and they will check out my vehicle and let me know. I asked if the tires would be coming off and he said, “Absolutely.” I asked, since the tires were coming off anyway, could they rotate them when they put it back on. He said sure. He called me later to give me the estimate and honestly, the interaction was very disturbing. He informed me that I had two broken motor mounts, a broken trans mount, the oil pan was leaking, the rack and pinion needed to be replaced, etc. All and all, he said it would be roughly $5500.00. He also said it would be $19.95 for the tire rotation. It’s funny, it’s the little things that cause trust to be questioned. I couldn’t believe he was charging me $19.95 to rotate tires that were already coming off. Discount does it free and I thought since they were coming off anyway, it was understood but I realized at that point that he was going to squeeze every penny he could right on top of the repairs he quoted. What’s worse was the play by play with each charge, instead of being professional he kept inserting commentary that just exacerbated the bad news. “Ok man, the right motor mount is broken too, get ready, this is really going to HURT . . . $850.00. Now I’m going to let you take a deep breath before I tell you the rack and pinion . . . $850.00, that’s got to hurt so if you need to take a breath before I move on, that’s ok.” Is all that nonsense necessary or even professional? When I told him that I would just take my truck back to think through the repairs, he mentioned that there was a charge for inspecting my vehicle but would waive it for me. He NEVER said there would be a charge. He said to just get an oil change and he would give me an estimate for the 100k work. It felt like an insult on top of injury. I ended up taking my vehicle to a highly rated certified mechanic in the Phoenix area and what I found was absolutely shocking. They inspected my vehicle and told me that the trans mount was perfectly fine and no replacement was even necessary. He also told me that as much as he would like to change the oil pan gasket, it was perfectly fine. There seemed to just be a leak from the oil filter only. Lastly, the rack and pinion didn’t need to be replaced either. I literally can’t believe the discrepancy in information. Also, he did change the motor mounts for half the price that Van quoted. Inflated prices and false repairs?? I am flabbergasted!! The only explanation that I can come up with is that Van Chevrolet is either a scam operation or grossly incompetent. Either way, I will NEVER do business with Van Chevrolet again and would discourage anyone else from doing business there either. More
