Factory trained mechanics! Term "Stealership" understood The following email I sent to Ryan Fitzpatrick in response to a visit sums up my review. Hello Mr. Fitzpatrick, This is not specific to my visit The following email I sent to Ryan Fitzpatrick in response to a visit sums up my review. Hello Mr. Fitzpatrick, This is not specific to my visit on 06/01/2017 but to the one on 03/21 to 03/23/2017. I had requested a 4 Wheel Alignment. I was told that the front camber on either of the two wheels, .2 left & .1 right, could not be brought into spec as the Upper Control Arms were "bent" and that newer BMW cars do not have any provision for camber adjustment. I asked what could have caused the arms to "bend", I was told by Steven Varni over the phone that I probably hit a pothole. The estimate for the repairs was $651 labor, $1,032.52 for parts or total of $1,759.67 inclusive of tax. I acquired brand new OE BMW parts (part # 31126775967) on the internet from a BMW dealer somewhere in the South (I think Atlanta) for $181 each (total $362) and snooping around the internet figured that this was a low-skill repair as it involved two larger and two smaller bolts which helped me decide to have bad coffee and enjoy bare bones facilities at an independent shop instead of at your dealership. The independent mechanic, with over 120 Yelp reviews and a 5-star overall rating, raised the car on a lift and he and I looked at the "bent" parts. The mechanic, at the risk of losing some revenue, was of the opinion that the control arms, given there position and mounting, are highly unlikely to get bent from hitting a pothole (which I did not remember hitting) and I, with engineering background, agreed. I still went ahead and got the parts replaced. Another 4-wheel alignment produced results identical to the ones from your shop's effort. Do the control arms come bent from the factory or did the FedEx truck transporting the replacement parts hit a pothole?! I felt stupid but the level of "stupidness", 38% of what it would have been had I opted to accept your outfit's quote, made me feel real smart (Everything is relative, right?). My total expenditure for the fruitless exercise was $674.37 vs. $1,759.67. BTW, the breakdown of $674.37 was $362 parts, $184.87 for installation and $127.50 for the alignment. During the lease, we were incouraged to purchase the "safe lease" insurance. This insurance means there are no additional costs at return except the disposition fee. At Anthony's advice, we returned the vehicle to a local BMW dealership when the lease expired since we had moved from the Modesto area. The dealership we returned the vehicle to to the car. Inspected the car. Then signed the lease return and they said with the safe lease we were good to go. At least I thought we were. About 8 weeks later we get a letter from BMW financial that we own $1000 for tires. Called BMW financial and they said we had to work it out with the dealership. So we called valley BMW for assistance. I called Anthony first since we leased the car with him. He listened and said "I'll get on it and find out what's going on". Never heard from him again. Wouldn't answer my follow up calls. Disappeared from the face of the earth. So we called the sales manager Ken. Again, "I'm on it, don't worry". Never heard from Ken again. So we called the other sales manager Dave. This time he said, "Gee Wiz, we really can't help you. You need to take this up with the dealership to returned the car to". In other words, "we sold you the car and you're in your own. Sucks to be you". So I called the dealership where the car was returned and talked with another sales manager. He admitted there was glitch that had caused the problem and he would resolve the issue. Finally some help. Never buy a car from Valley BMW. They stand behind their cars ..,.,,about 15 miles behind their cars. Maybe that's why you can't find them when you need them. More
Being a local high school teacher for over 10 years and a local real estate agent, I come across many people. If any one of my peers or customers asked me if they should take their car in to Valley BMW, I w local real estate agent, I come across many people. If any one of my peers or customers asked me if they should take their car in to Valley BMW, I would tell them, "Definitely NOT!" I took my car in because it was staling. I assumed the problem would be fixed under warranty because I had just purchased the car (328i 2014 model with only 1,700miles) in December 2013. They 'blamed' the problem on a minor ding to the bumper. I was then directed to file an insurance claim or pay for the repairs out of pocket. I ended up filing an insurance claim. When I picked up the car I noticed an additional rather deep scratch on the side of my car. I pointed it out to the Service Advisor and he brushed it off like it was nothing. He proceeded to introduce me to one of the sales agents who could answer some questions I had about the car options. Meanwhile, Steve was quick to leave at about 5. I left feeling like I was a dumb woman asking stupid questions. I also felt uneasy leaving the dealership with a deep scratch that I am certain was not there when I left the car in their care. So before leaving the dealership, I circled back in and asked to speak to Steve. The other service manager told me that he had just left for the day. I took him outside and showed him the scratch. I told him that I wanted to file some type of report. He told me that if I told Steve already, that I shouldn't worry and that it was already noted. You would think that Valley BMW would have used dealer 'good faith' or a warranty claim. Instead, they advised me to go through my insurance since they get more pay out from an insurance claim to fix the car than their warranty claim. I had to return their loaner car since they said it wasn't covered under warranty and pay for a rental car while my car was being fixed. This whole ordeal cost me 1,000 deductible, over 300 in rental car, and a claim on my record. I feel the dealership could have been more caring and helpful. More
