The process started by my requesting a quote on their website. Nick Theodor contacted me by email and phone the very next day. Nick was holding the door for customers when I entered Valley Honda. My plan was to buy an 2011 Honda Civic. Nick and his General Sales Manager gave me all of my options. My final decision was to lease a 2012 Civic because of the great price and options on the car. I was looking to buy my first new car a week ago, and Sean was great in helping me out with everything I needed. My dad and I spoke with him for a few hours on consecutive days, and he never showed any signs of impatience while maintaining his friendliness. He explained the Protector extremely well with demonstrations and personal stories. Sean made sure that I knew the differences between 2011 Civic LX and EX along with the 2012 editions. He gave us a nice tour of the building, including the warehouse area. All in all, it was a great experience at Valley Honda Aurora/Naperville in buying a 2011 Honda Civic LX, as Sean was a great combination of knowledge, friendliness, and communicating the facts. More
I have been searching for a car within my budget for about three weeks. After visiting Valley Honda in Aurora, IL, I felt I had finally found the right vehicle. My salesman, Mario, wrote down some quo about three weeks. After visiting Valley Honda in Aurora, IL, I felt I had finally found the right vehicle. My salesman, Mario, wrote down some quotes and I left to do some more research on my own. A few days and many emails later Mario told me that there was a "special" coming up over Memorial Day weekend. Financing on new Civics was 0.9% for 60 months and that the model that I wanted (2012 Civic LX) qualified for this deal. He told me that I should come in before the weekend to lock in the deal and that my car would come in between June 4th-8th (a week after the purchase). At this point, I stopped searching and decided to take advantage of the deal. I was going to have my mother co-sign because she already has a relationship with Honda and could ensure that I qualified for this rate. Last year my mother was diagnosed with a rare eye disease and she is slowly losing her sight. As a result, she can no longer drive a vehicle. With my brothers graduation coming up this weekend her availability was limited. I left work early and went to the bank for a cashiers check for the amount that I was going to put down. I drove an hour to pick up my mother, drove back an hour to the dealership, and when we walked in I could tell something wasn't right. Mario was very fidgety and nervous as he held on to a large stack of papers. He told me that for the first time at Honda, the deal only applied to the cars on the lot and that the rate didn't qualify for the vehicle I wanted. After going back and forth with a sales manager, he came back and told me I could get a model up for only $30 more a month. I asked how much that added to the overall cost and he said he had to go find out. It was $2,000. I have never felt more cheated in my life. Not only did I leave work early and get a cashiers check, but I dragged my mother an hour (2 hours round trip) to witness a bait-and-switch. It was a lie. The deal never existed. He just wanted me in the store with my money in order to try to sell me on a different, more expensive vehicle. At this point I had to drive my mother an hour back home and then another hour back towards Naperville, IL where I live. I'm not the first person Valley Honda has done this to and I'm positive I won't be the last. Yelp! is filled with reviews that describe an almost identical experience. It was the absolute worst experience that I've ever had at the retail level. Anyone that even mentions the word "car" to me will hear about my experience at Valley Honda. Luckily, it didn't cost me a day of work to find out I was being ripped off. Also, I still have the emails between myself and the salesman. I also took photos of the "deals" I was promised for proof of my experience (because for some reason you aren't allowed to take them out of the store). Furthermore, below is the definition of Bait-and-Switch. My reason for submitting this story is to prevent others from having a similar experience. Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud, most commonly used in retail sales but also applicable to other contexts. First, customers are "baited" by advertising for a product or service at a low price; second, the customers discover that the advertised good is not available and are "switched" to a costlier product. He was enthusiastic, educated, and ready to find the best fit for me and my budget. I fell in love with an Orange Honda fit and Mario made sure to answer my questions, ease my concerns, and work with me to finally make my purchase. He even went so far as to come in when he was technically off work when we showed up again on his day off. He is clearly motivated and loyal to his customers. I would greatly recommend working with Mario to have a fantastic car purchasing experience! More

Even when we walked out of the dealer in our first visit without buying a car he was still totally respectful and his great attitude kept intact (not like with some other salesmen that if you don’t buy they don’t even say goodbye…) he kept in touch with us doing follow up but not to the point where it would become too much! Buying at Valley Honda and dealing with Sean will bring you peace of mind!
