Short version: This was the worst sales experience I have ever had. Period. I walked away and ended up buying from nearby Rosner in Fredericksburg, where I had a very good experience. Very long version: ever had. Period. I walked away and ended up buying from nearby Rosner in Fredericksburg, where I had a very good experience. Very long version: Day One: We had done our research on-line and knew the exact vehicle we were interested in. We visited Lustine just to check out the feel of bench vs. bucket seating. The salesman showed us the vehicle, we sat in it, and had the info we needed. But the salesman then he told us we'd HAVE to go in the service bay where they'd drive the vehicle and show us ALL its features. No, we politely declined. Suddenly, he began saying that Toyota had a strict process he HAD to follow and that we might get him fired if we didn't cooperate. And he had a family to feed. Did we want to take food out of the mouth of his kids? etc. This was too bizarre for us. We said we were leaving but asked (repeatedly) for his card, telling him if we bought there we'd be sure to note his assistance. He got all agitated and walked off, hurling an obscenity our way. What?! We were stunned. Day Two: After thinking about it we decided that maybe this was a new hire (and thus no card yet?) having a bad day. We shouldn't write off the whole dealership based on this one bizarre interaction. So the next day, we contacted the dealership via e-mail and made an offer on the vehicle. A different sales associate contacted us promptly and I had several email exchanges nailing down a price, being careful to make sure it including all fees, tags, taxes, etc. Oh yes, they assured me IN WRITING, that was the out-the-door price that included everything. I went to the bank, got a check cut and was ready to buy. We got there and got a lengthy review of the vehicle (again citing Toyota procedures that REQUIRED this), took a very brief test drive, etc. Then we sat down to finish up the paperwork and was told, "Oops, we forgot to include a $399 processing fee in the price we quoted you." I was livid. I had a price, in writing from them, and I expected them to honor it. No, they said, they HAD to include this fee...it was pre-printed on the form! Seriously; that's what the guy said! How stupid did they think we were? We got the whole good cop/bad cop routine (Gee, I'd like to give you that price but my manager...) and finally an offer to essentially split the difference. As I explained to them, at that point it was no longer about a couple hundred bucks. If I couldn't trust them when they put things in writing, how could I ever trust them? I walked away, check in pocket. More
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! I could not get anyone to answer the phone or return a phone call the day after I purchased my car, I was just trying to schedule the add-ons that I got bullied into buying th answer the phone or return a phone call the day after I purchased my car, I was just trying to schedule the add-ons that I got bullied into buying the night before. Poor customer service, lost my keys when I brought it in for service and when they finally found them the 1 hour and 45 minute service was completed in 20 minutes (it was closing time). Plan on being there at 45 minutes BEFORE they bring your car in for service WITH AN APPOINTMENT, this happens EVERYTIME! Funny thing is I "needed" new breaks and tires at my 30,000 mile check (which I did not get) then at my 35,000 mile check I did not need breaks or tires!?!?? Can't wait until my prepaid maintenance is complete and I will NEVER step foot in Lustine Toyota again. Don't bother contacting Toyota Corporate Office as they will only forward your complaint back to Lustine.... More
Unprofessional and not honest. I talked to the salesman on the phone about an advertised offer and promised a price. When we got to the dealership the games started. They offered me a demo with 4650 miles on the phone about an advertised offer and promised a price. When we got to the dealership the games started. They offered me a demo with 4650 miles on it as a new car that was different than what we talked on the phone for 5000 dollars more than what we were quoted on the phone. The floor manager/supervisor was worse than the salesman. Tried to play smart in a very unprofessional way without addressing our issues with the salesman. He proved that this place is top-bottowm NOT an honest group. Based on my experience I don't trust this dealership and do NOT recommend anybody to buy from that dealership. Two hours later I went to another dealership bought a better model. Don't waste your time with this dealership and don't believe their ads in the post or elsewhere. More
I brought my Toyota Sienna for an engine light issue. I I brought my Toyota Sienna for an engine light issue. I was given an estimate of 3K for unnecessary repairs or repairs I paid for which they did not I brought my Toyota Sienna for an engine light issue. I was given an estimate of 3K for unnecessary repairs or repairs I paid for which they did not do or did incorrectly. 1. Timing belt - They suggested w/o checking if I had done this. I declined. 2. Rear wheel cylinders - they changed supposedly due to leaking but 2 years later these were leaning again. 3. Machined drums/rotors - I had these redone at Midas 2 years later because there was a thumping every time I hit the breaks. These guys will add up a list things you car doesn't need for repairs and charge you an arm and a leg. Stay away from these folks and get a second opinion. More
I bought a brand new 2011 Corolla from Lustine. They told me they were going to give me more for my trade and discount the base price of the Corolla. They did neither! When I went back a few days later to ha me they were going to give me more for my trade and discount the base price of the Corolla. They did neither! When I went back a few days later to have them make it right, both the sales manager, Mike Dennis, and Jim Giddings, the General Manager said that it was my fault and it was my word against theirs. I basically was told by Rinaldo Campana that he would pay off my vehicle and discount the price of the Corolla by 1200 or 1300. Once I signed a contract, that wasn't very legible, they basically told me I would just have to deal with the terms and implied that I must be "stupid." When I wanted to cancel the contract, they brought out my trade-in vehicle from the back and "somehow it had been damaged." I am not talking about a scratch but a huge dent that affected the front and back driver's side doors. Then, they told me that I was responsible for the damage and that my insurance company would have to pay!! The vehicle was in their posession! I hadn't even seen it in 5 days! Can you beleive that! Needless to say, I ended up keeping the new Corolla because I do not have time to fight the insurance companies and Lustine. I called the police and even the officer was appalled at the damage and the fact that they wouldn't take responsibility. I would recommend going anywhere else but Lustine's. The GM basically told me he could care less about my satisfaction and whether or not I shared this with everyone I know. This dealership is unbeleivably rude, disrespectful, and all about $$$, not customer satisfaction. I will tell you to go somewhere else if you have the chance. This place lacks integrity and they obviously do not care about customer satisfaction. Buyers BEWARE! More
We went to Lustine because our local dealer did not have a 2011 Prius in stock to test drive. Met salesman Ryan Sullivan when we arrived and from the start he was friendly and knowledgeable about the Prius a 2011 Prius in stock to test drive. Met salesman Ryan Sullivan when we arrived and from the start he was friendly and knowledgeable about the Prius and able to answer our immediate questions. He offered to take us on a test drive in a 2010 because they did not have a 2011 in stock. We accepted his test drive offer because we knew the similarity between the 2010 & 2011. He took his time with us and allowed both me and my spouse to drive the car, answering our questions and explaining in detail the operations of the vehicle. When we returned to the dealership he gave us the time to look over the vehicle and to make sure the interior space was what we wanted, even showing us things about the car we didn't know. We weren't looking to buy a car that day (we were going to use a car buying service) but we had an idea on the cost of the vehicle. Ryan sat down with us and told us what price he could sell the vehicle to us. From our research we knew we were getting a fair deal. We were informed from the beginning by Ryan that Lustine would be receiving a couple of 2011 Prius in a shipment in the next couple of weeks. We were debating between the Prius 2 and the Prius 3. Lustine didn't have a "3" in stock but one of Ryan's managers owned one and Ryan was able to get the keys to his manager's car and show us the difference between the two models. We decided to go with a "2" and to buy the vehicle that day. We put in our order and we were informed the vehicle would be in within 2-3 weeks. Less than 2 weeks later we received a call from Ryan that our new vehicle there. Buying a new car has not been one of our favorite things to do but Ryan and the staff (Andre in finance & Delma) made it a pleasant experience. More
We went to Lustine to look at suvs with no knowledge of toyotas products. We were avoiding salesmen by driving around the back of the lot to look at inventory. When Ryan walked up we were expecting another toyotas products. We were avoiding salesmen by driving around the back of the lot to look at inventory. When Ryan walked up we were expecting another pushy salesperson but Ryan was anything but. He was cleancut, personable and seemed to truly care about our interests and needs. After asking some questions about our wants and needs Ryan took us to a new highlander and said that he felt it best suited our needs and budget. After a test drive and thorough explaination of the vehicle and its features my wife and i fell in love with and bought the highlander. The experience was seamless and perfect. From the moment we hit the lot until we left in our new highlander we felt like valued customers. We were also very impressed with the appearance and atmosphere. We highly reccomend lustine toyota! I have to be honest, this is the third time I bought from this dealer (2002, 2004, and recently this month). The salesman was extremely friendly and offered the best bang for the buck. On top of it all, he this dealer (2002, 2004, and recently this month). The salesman was extremely friendly and offered the best bang for the buck. On top of it all, he was able to get me an additional saving on my trade. Overall, this time the service and management of operations has improved greatly. No fuss and no hassle in sealing this deal and now I am sold! I will return as a valued consumer. More
