Terrible experience. Damaged my truck (2021 Tacoma bought brand new and currently has only 24,700 miles) while trying to repair a faulty part and caused it to constantly Damaged my truck (2021 Tacoma bought brand new and currently has only 24,700 miles) while trying to repair a faulty part and caused it to constantly leak water from my roof that made it all over my truck causing mold. I noticed the moldy smell after they initially replaced a faulty roof molding on the driver’s side. I thought it was strange but kept on driving the truck for months thinking it was probably related to the A/C or something else. Never did I think they damaged my roof causing it to constantly leak. Water had been coming into the truck for months without me noticing but 1 day a couple of months ago, after a very strong rainstorm, a large amount of water had pooled up on the floor mats. I thought it was maybe a one time occurrence (which I have never experienced in any other vehicle that I’ve driven) and hoped it wouldn’t happen again but I was wrong. A couple of week later after another strong rainstorm more water than last time pooled up on the floor mat. I noticed it was dripping water under the steering dash on the left side. I take the truck in for service and they found out that there was a hole in the roof under the molding piece they replaced about 7 months ago. The also pointed out the water stain on my ceiling right under the area the hole was located and leaking. I told them about the mold smell coming from the A/C and they also found out after testing that there was mold in the truck and all my floor padding was wet. Somehow they caused this hole in the roof or damaged the truck when replacing that roof molding initially and it resulted in water constantly leaking in until the bodywork was corroded enough for it to come through in large quantities. I had been breathing in mold for at least 7 months. They brought out ServPro after I insisted and confirmed there was mold in the truck and supposedly they remediated it as they provided mold free post remedy paper work. They had the truck for about 3 weeks. Picked it up yesterday afternoon and everything seemed fine even though some scuff marks were present in some areas as they had ripped the interior apart to remediate the mold and replace the wet floor pads etc. that needed replacing. It didn’t rain last night and the truck didn’t have any moldy smell when I started it this morning. I drove to work at 8 am didn’t touch the truck until 7 pm when I left work. It had been raining and was still sprinkling. I get in the truck and as soon as I turn it on I get hit in the face with moldy smell from A/C vent. The same moldy smell that I had been smelling for the past 7 months. Either they didn’t repair the roof correctly, which they damaged initially causing it to leak this entire time or, they didn’t properly remediate the existing mold. I was advised and assured that the leak was fixed and the mold remediated but after the truck sat out in the rain, the day after I pick it up from the dealer, I get the same issue. Moldy smell hitting me in the face as soon as I start it. Extremely disappointing and probably not safe to drive as there’s still a moldy smell coming of the A/C. Overall have had nothing but terrible customer service experiences with Toyota since I bought this 2021 Tacoma and paid $25,000.00 down in cash and have been making my payments on time every month. Terrible experience and wouldn’t recommend this dealership or any Toyota dealership for that matter which is sad because I have owned several in the past and was fond of them. Not anymore after what I’ve been going through with this truck since I bought brand new 3 years ago. More
