We visited Smithfield Toyota and had several conversations with the sales rep along the way. On Saturday, July 31st, we went back to the dealership and again met with the sales rep. We offered my wife’s car as a trade-in, as well as cash. The rep went to the manager’s desk and came back with a sales sheet that detailed the car they could acquire for us from another dealership. My wife asked how long it would take for delivery; the rep said two to three days, Monday or Tuesday. We agreed to purchase this vehicle and briefly met with the delivery coordinator who told us we would be talking with each other often over the next few days. We were then escorted to the finance person where he took the title to my wife’s car and a cash deposit. He asked for the VIN number, but we didn’t have possession of the sell sheet. It remained with the rep. The finance person said, “I will just enter in a random car to get the financials for us.” I thought, why wouldn’t he just get the actual VIN? Questionable! We went through the process and left the dealership expecting a call on Monday or Tuesday. My wife left a message for the coordinator on Tuesday. On Wednesday, August 4th, I called the transaction coordinator for an update and received a call back soon after my message. She explained she was out on Tuesday and would contact the rep and finance person about the car. I had two more conversations with her, and she told me that the rep and finance people will be in on Thursday morning at 10:00 and she would contact me first thing that morning. On Thursday at noon, I had not received a call as promised. I called the dealership again and received a call back from the rep. He informed me they were still looking for a car for us... I explained to him how that was not the deal we agreed to, and it was unacceptable. He said the car was no longer available from the other dealership. I ended the call and spoke to my wife to confirm the details of our meeting at the dealership, and she agreed that they led us to believe we were purchasing the car they presented to us and it was available. When I called the rep back, I expressed my disappointment with the dealership and told him I would be at the dealership soon to collect our trade-in title and deposit. Upon arrival, I was met by the rep, and then the finance manager, who asked what the problem was. I reiterated my concern over the practice of selling us a car that they could not deliver, or never intended to deliver. The manager that originally printed the sell sheet for the car we were purchasing, interjected and ask me to view his monitor. He showed me what I had already been shown by the rep which was the inventory of vehicles being delivered on another dealer’s lot. This provided no resolve. I asked for my deposit and title and left without any apology. My question as to the practice of this dealership is due to many facts. The rep told me on Thursday that the car wasn’t available as of Monday, but nobody contacted us to make us aware of the matter. Again, questionable! The manager then said it was Tuesday after I questioned the gap in communication. He then said there was a communication issue. Stall tactic? Why would the finance manager enter a random vehicle into the system when they had the VIN number for the vehicle we were to purchase? This is a clear case of Bait and Switch. They locked us into a deal without a vehicle and went into search mode hoping to find another dealer that would be willing to transfer a vehicle from their inventory in order to capture the sale. I wish I had read the reviews on their website before walking into the dealership. It appears this is typical. More

Poor communication in the service department. Dropped my car off at 7:30 for an oil change. I called 5 times to check to see if it was ready. No one ever returned my call. I purchased a 2016 Scion IM from this dealer in February of 2020. I wasn't planning on it honestly. I saw an add for the car online, went for a drive debating with myself or rather or not to go to dealer. E of 2020. I wasn't planning on it honestly. I saw an add for the car online, went for a drive debating with myself or rather or not to go to dealer. Especially the dealership was an hour drive away. I showed up to the dealer without an appointment and to make a long story short, with in a few hours between the test drive, talking with the finance department, I was out the door with my new car. The whole experience at this dealer was worth the drive. It was the most pleasant experience I ever had dealing with a car dealership. They gave the facts, told me my options and I drove away feeling confident about my purchase. James Forte is a good salesmen who didn't pressure me at all. My biggest issue with it comes to any dealer is the pressure they put you under when buying a car. They were some negotiating as to be expected with any big purchase but it wasn't to the point where it was bad or off putting. I'm beyond happy with my wonderful experience at this dealership. Jim McKenna whom is their sales manager; him and I had two phone calls about the experience and I had some questions that I forgot to ask the day I bought the car. He answered them pleasantly and made me feel welcomed with the whole conversation. I can't get over how great the overall experience was with this dealership and I recommend anyone to go here for their car buying needs. It's been almost a year since I've bought my car here and I get my car serviced at this dealership everytime. I drive all the way from Chatham (Cape Cod) which is nearly 1 hour and 45 minutes away and the drive is worth it everytime. The dealership and service department go above and beyond to take care of my car needs. And when it comes time to get a new car, this will be the only dealership I'll ever do business with. I can't say enough positive things about this dealership. More

Great all around experience. Not too often you leave a dealership feeling like you were taken care of, but that’s why happened. Mike was great! Highly recommended dealership feeling like you were taken care of, but that’s why happened. Mike was great! Highly recommended More
