Terrible experience - I wouldn't believe them if they tell you something is not covered under warranty. I took my vehicle in before the extended warranty was going to expire. I told service that the key tell you something is not covered under warranty. I took my vehicle in before the extended warranty was going to expire. I told service that the keyless remote would work only intermittently. They insisted that it was not covered even when I gave them a copy of my warranty paperwork (which was a Toyota warranty through Gulf States Toyota). They asked for $275 for remote and programming. I then talked with service mgr (very, very rude man) who still denied my claim. He also said I should go to dealer I purchased vehicle from (in another city) and that I didn't have real Toyota warranty. I insisted he call the Toyota Ext Warranty. I had already spoken with the the extended warranty co and they had set up a record for my claim - they were very helpful and pleasant). The Charles Maund service mgr finally called and guess what? He had their service guy call me back to say that they had a remote waiting for me and could get me in and out in 20 minutes. Why didn't they just check with Toyota warranty and avoid a very ugly situation? Not smart business since they have definitely lost a customer and may have profited from doing the covered warranty work. More
I will preface this documentation with the following; I have bought a VW Passat from Charles Maund in 2006. I bought my Toyota 4Runner in September, 2004 in Tucson, AZ and I moved to Austin in November 200 have bought a VW Passat from Charles Maund in 2006. I bought my Toyota 4Runner in September, 2004 in Tucson, AZ and I moved to Austin in November 2004, and have been using Charles Maund for every one of my services for both cars since these listed times. Apart of my purchase for the 4Runner, was a package to have lifetime replacement for tires if I were to maintain my scheduled maintenance with the dealership that I bought the car from. Since I was moving in a very short period, I had it clarified that if I enter into this program, then it will be transferable. Further, when I came to Austin, I asked the consultant, Wes Newman whether or not this was transferable, and he stated that it was. So, for the last 4 1/2 years, without a doubt, I have been up keeping my car maintenance as I felt I should do to uphold my end of the deal for this tire replacement program. On 4/9/09, I go to the dealership to get my next service checkup along with my state inspection sticker taken care of, the inspection would not pass for some lights out and tires that are too low in tread. I stated that I have tire replacement, and it should be covered. After looking up in the system and not finding me there, I was told that I am not apart of this program. At this time I asked Wes to let me speak with a manager. I spoke with Danny Smith and he started off wanting to extend some customer service. He was already apprised of the situation and Wes had told him that he had told me, that the protection program would be transferable. In this same conversation, Danny went on to tell, and I quote, "this program is a piece of xxxx. You have no idea how many pissed off customers I have had with this thing. They have done everything they can to not pay this out." Not surprisingly, Wes expressed the same sentiment. After a few minutes of acting concerned, I got no action and was told that this has to be answered by Toyota, and nobody else. He stated that he can't do anything and at this time, I basically stated that is not good enough. I pushed back on this and was told that it did not matter what I say or what I do, I will not get tires from Charles Maund because, "they are not in the business of tires, if they were, they would have a firestone or something". He cannot take something that was stated 4 years ago by his representative as something that can be held as something that is binding. At this time, I asked Danny to get the GM and I reminded him of the amount of business I have conducted with the service department. At this time, he started to posture as if I have no real action here, and I cannot get tires out of Charles Maund. Finally, he told me that there is nothing that can be done, and basically, we need to part. I asked for my car, and he stated he can get it. At this time, I asked when will the GM call me back, and he stated that he does not know, might be Friday, but I have no idea. He did write off my service charge. Remember, at Charles Maund, they will do whatever it takes as false promises to get your business, but when it comes time to deliver on them, they will find a way to back out of them. More
I was not told the truth about Camry's. Asked if they come in standard transmission and was told "NO". NOT true - there were none on the lot the day I was there looking. 2 weeks later they had lots of come in standard transmission and was told "NO". NOT true - there were none on the lot the day I was there looking. 2 weeks later they had lots of them available. I had keyless entry installed in my automatic transmission Camry that I purchased. It didn't work and had to return a few days later. A headlight was out when I drove it off the lot (with a new inspection sticker on the windshield) and had to return to get it fixed. They did not mail my new plates as I was told would happen. I drove for several days with expired paper plates until I called to find out if the plates were lost in the mail, when in fact, they were never mailed. I have requested at least 3 times to be removed from emails from the dealership showing all the great deals (when I paid thousands more than all the specials). As of yesterday, I received yet another email from them. Have contacted corporate twice to see if they would assist in getting me off Maund Toyota emails. More
I can honestly say that the car buying experience with this dealership has been the most pleasant we’ve ever had. They were completely honest with us and we were totally satisfied with the negotiations! I this dealership has been the most pleasant we’ve ever had. If we lived in Austin all of our friends would come to know about Charles Maund Toyota and what a great dealership it is. We would highly recommend Charles Maund Toyota to anyone! More
Charles Maund has decent pricing, but their after the sale performance is terrible. They often "lose" your vehicle in the service bays and as a result something as simple as an oil change or tire rotati sale performance is terrible. They often "lose" your vehicle in the service bays and as a result something as simple as an oil change or tire rotation can take DAYS to complete. On another occasion I scheduled a drop off to replace a part on my vehicle a week in advance. When I dropped it off, I was told four hours, but I received a call almost 6 hours later that they did not have the part in stock and would need to order it which would take 24 hours. My Advice? I would advise you to NOT buy your car from Charles Maund, but it you absolutely cannot pass up a deal with them, get the minimum warranty coverage and just get it serviced anywhere else. More
Can't believe how bad this place was!!! I drive a 96 Can't believe how bad this place was!!! I drive a 96 Corolla and it was at 120K so I took it into Charles Maund Toyota to get the timing belt changed Can't believe how bad this place was!!! I drive a 96 Corolla and it was at 120K so I took it into Charles Maund Toyota to get the timing belt changed. When I got it back, the battery died. I figured it wasn't a big deal because the battery was old so I replaced it. The next day I was driving in my car when the radio died, then the interior lights, and then the entire car died while I was on the Far West exit off of Mopac. My Dad, who's a cardiac patient, and I had to sit in the heat for an hour and a half till the tow truck came. While we were waiting, we took a look under the hood to find out that Charles Maund DIDN'T PLUG IN THE ALTERNATER!! We towed the car to the dealer and they replaced the battery and fixed it. Thinking everything was fine I drove the car around only to find that the car had half the power it had before I brought it in. When I brought the car back they told me that it was an old car and that happens. I told them to take a look at it and it turns out that they DIDN’T PUT THE TIMING BELT ON CORRECTLY AND IT WAS LOOSE!! This place sucks, do not go there More
OK, so I have been in the market for a Land Rover, looked online several weeks. I finally found a place, although not in San Antonio, where I live, not too far away. Not only did this place have one, but two online several weeks. I finally found a place, although not in San Antonio, where I live, not too far away. Not only did this place have one, but two. So I called to get the logistics of the car, i was leaning towards a green one. Lee strongly suggested that I DO NOT get the green one, it has too many problems, even goes on to say, "I would rather lose a sale than have a customer upset with me over something I should have told them to begin with." So at that point I am actually thinking, wow, a nice salesman. So we get there 15 minutes before they close and get the white one, we did a little inspection and noticed a leak in the upper radiator hose, no biggie. 60.00 later it's replaced. I decided to take it to the Land Rover Dealership here and now the problems begin, I am told that it needs new head gaskeets, 2400.00. OUCH!!! So I call the dealership and speak to Mr. Bourgess, explaining that the only reason I chose the vehicle that wasn't fully loaded was because Lee said this one was in much better shape mechanically. Well, nobody has returned my phone calls, not Lee, not Mr. Bourghess, not even the GM, Robert Walker. I even found out that this vehicle belonged to a friend of the salesmans. HMMMM More
Sorry for the long review, but I think who ever is deciding to purchase from Charles Maund Toyota should read and take caution. After searching for a particular truck, I called Charles Maund Toyota deciding to purchase from Charles Maund Toyota should read and take caution. After searching for a particular truck, I called Charles Maund Toyota hoping that they would have what I wanted in stock. To my surprise Derrick told me that they had two colors available in the exact package that I requested. So far so good, I decided to get a loan through my personal bank and needed to get a Buyer's Order faxed to my Loan Rep, I contacted Derrick and gave him all of the information that was needed. Four hours go by and, no fax was sent to my bank. I then called Charles Maund Toyota and spoke with Alex (the Sales Manager) who immediately appologized for my frustration and decided to knock off 400 bucks! We settled on a price over the phone, and just to make sure, I told him (as I have told Derrick and countless other sales reps) EXACTLY what I wanted on the truck; V6, 4X4, auto, xtra cab, with the SR5 package. Alex confirmed this with me and I hung up. Later on in the day I decided to check the inventory on line on www.charlesmaundtoyota.com to see if they had my truck still listed, to my surprise I found NOT ONE TRUCK that fit my requirements. Immediately I called Alex back to make sure that the truck that I wanted was in stock. He assured me, with the backing of Robert (General Manager) that the truck wasn't listed because it "was a special order truck". Everything had been set up, I got a brand new insurance policy set up for the truck, (I just got back from Korea not too long ago and had to set it up from scratch) my loan with my bank was set up and ready to go. Me and my father drive down to Austin (we live in Copperas Cove which is about an hour away). Needless to say, we get lost and the trip ends up taking us two hours. And, when we finally do show up at Charles Maund Toyota, I'm immediately greeted by Derrick who tosses me the keys to my brand new truck. I get on the ground to make sure the truck is a 4x4, and what do I find? It wasn't 4 wheel drive! I then gave the keys back to Derrick and told him that this was the wrong truck, his response, "Are you sure?" You're xxxx right I'm sure I've been searching and asking for this truck for the past three months! He then goes in to check to see if there are any on the lot that fit my criteria, low and behold, NOTHING! They had pulled a bait and switch on me! If this dealership was closer I wouldn't have cared, if a single sales rep had lied, I would have been mad. But, me and my father drove for a total of about four hours, and were lied to by Derrick, Alex, and Robert. I asked if they would honor the price they gave me for the non 4x4 truck, for a 4 wheel drive one (I was paying close to what they are asking for on www.edmunds.com and www.carsdirect.com TMV) and they said no, and kept apologizing. This dealership, (I wouldn't even call them that) are a bunch of flat out crooks. I had to speak with the Vice Pres. of my bank to get everything situated with the loan, waste a total of four hours, and set up a new insurance policy, since these crooks decided that they wanted to lie. I wouldn't recommend these thieves, unless you really enjoy being lied to by everyone including managers. More
