This is the first new vehicle we bought in 11 years, so we were a bit uneasy with how things would progress with the the purchase of the new car. I did quite a bit of research on the internet in regards we were a bit uneasy with how things would progress with the the purchase of the new car. I did quite a bit of research on the internet in regards to the purchase of an Avalon XLS. WE used the American Express purchase program for determining where to buy our vehicle. I received the list on the internet for the certified dealers that participated in that program and Rice Toyota Scion was at the top of that list. I still contacted the other listed dealers through the internet and compared the prices. Our decision was to go with Rice Toyota after much research and recommendations by other friends who had purchased cars from Rice Toyota. I was contacted by Lou Gonzalez at Rice Toyota by email and we scheduled and approximate time to meet with Lou for a test drive and discuss information related to the Avalon XLS. My wife and I were very impressed with Lou's ability to make us feel comfortable with the process of buying such an expensive car. He was able to answer my questions about the car and made both of us feel relaxed. The test drive was definitely the one thing that finalized our decision to purchase the Avalon. Lou showed us all the various features associated with the car and was extremely helpful in indoctrinating the wife and I to the many features and vast array of buttons and switches associated with the operation of the vehicle. You have to understand that we currently drive a 94 Oldsmobile and a 1999 GMC truck, so the features and operation was quite different than what wer were used to. Once we had made our decision to purchase the vehicle and what we wanted, the wife and I dreaded the next process which was paper work. That went so smooth that I did not find it as dreadful as I expected, infect Lou made it extremely easy. Once the process was for identifying the type of features we desired and the car was order, now all there was to do was wait for it to arrive. A few days later I received a call from Lou advising me on the recall for the gas pedal that was taking place and the delay in delivery. I was not deterred by the recall because of the amount of research I had in relation to Toyota Avalon and the great track record they had, plus Lou provided more then an abundance of information making me feel at ease with the decision. The time passed by shortly and during the wait anytime there was a delay Lou provided information regarding the delay and continually kept us informed. The day we picked up our New Toyota Avalon XLS I and the wife could not be happier with the ease of the paper work process and the friendliness of everyone involved. I was really surprised when I found out the gas tank was full which is not something I expected. Thank You Lou. I would definitely recommend Rice Toyota Scion and particularly Lou Gonzalez who in my wife and I's opinion is a extremely well informed and easy to talk to sales rep for Rice Toyota. More
I had been shopping for a '06 or '07 Highlander and found the exact one I wanted online. Thankfully it was at Rice. I went the next day, loved it, and was driving it home shortly after I went to see it. Chip the exact one I wanted online. Thankfully it was at Rice. I went the next day, loved it, and was driving it home shortly after I went to see it. Chip was great to work with. I was happy with the price and the customer service was wonderful. Wish I could go there for service, but since I live in Chapel Hill it's a little too far away. I would definitely recommend Rice and Chip for a great used car purchase experience. And I love my Highlander! More

I needed a new car quickly, since someone had totaled mine. I wanted another Toyota Rav4, because I loved the previous one (also purchased at Rice). I emailed several local dealerships for a quote late on a Wednesday night. Lindsay responded that night. All the other dealerships responded with "Call me", "Come take a test drive", or "Come by and we'll talk". Lindsay gave me a hard quote on the car I wanted...no hassle, no run-around. That Friday I met with Frank. He told me to take the car for an hour, test drive it, and see what I thought. After driving it, I knew I wanted the Rav4. Frank helped me with the tag and insurance transfer, and I went home with the car that day. Frank even went with me to take my rental back. Rice has always dealt with me straightforwardly...no games. I would highly recommend Rice Toyota. They really do treat people right. Update-2/5/10: Since the recall notice, which was 2 weeks after my purchase, I have had a difficult time finding out whether or not my car was involved. I finally got complete information, and my car is not included (the VIN begins with "JT"). The disturbing thing is...I had to get this information from Vann York, not Rice. I only got a quote from them, but they sent me an email with recall information. I have yet to hear anything definitive from Rice, and that is very disappointing. 2/8/10: After reading my additional comments, Rice contacted me for more information. Mr. Rice personally sent me an email apologizing for the problem and did everything he could to remedy the situation. More
Overall service was excellent. I shopped around online for a few months and finally picked out a truck at Rice Toyota that was in excellent condition and had a very reasonable price. From what I saw their used vehicles are almost all in like-new condition. And because the one I bought was Toyota-Certified-Used it also came detailed and with a full tank of gas. I dealt with Matt and he was able to work with me on the price and financing and I got what I'm sure was an excellent deal for a very lightly driven 06' Toyota Tacoma. Honestly, I'm inclined to give them a perfect 5 on everything. The only reason I dont is that they're a large dealership and to offer the services they offer (certified used vehicles, 160 pt inspection, detailing, first tank of gas free, and overall great selection) their prices must be slightly higher than private sellers (obviously). However I'd say that for the quality of vehicle and service that you'll get there, its well worth a very small increase in price. I'll definitely go back when I need another new/used Toyota truck. All we got was the sense our choices were limited to on-site inventory and limited dollars on trade-in. My bank had a purchasing program that provided several dealerships' emails, so I put out a group of emails to dealers in the area from Greensboro to Raleigh to Fayetteville. Several responded, some with offers, others with words and excuses of inability to provide what we wanted; however, Lou got back to me within minutes. He introduced himself and assured me he could get the van we were looking for. We discussed exactly what I needed the price to be. While emailing details with Lou, a couple of good offers came back to me from other dealerships. Although the other dealers' offers were competitive, Rice beat them in service and desire to get us in the right vehicle. Rice ended up getting us the color and model within one working day and we were driving off the lot in our new van, perfectly happy with the complete transaction. Rice is off the beaten path, but I would recommend them to family and friends and will look to them for my next vehicle...hopefully a brand new Tacoma! ;0) Gratefully, Ben Hill More

First, I live in Hillsborough, NC. Rice is in Greensboro, not just down the road. I was in the market for a new Toyota Avalon to replace my old one. I was already sold on the car in general and had done my homework on the 2010 limited. I put out a group of emails to dealers in the area from Raleigh to Winston Salem. Several responded, some with offers, others with words mostly... but Lindsay was back to me within minutes. She introduced herself, Rice Toyota and said she WANTED to do business with me. We discussed exactly what I whated for the price I desired. While emailing details with Lindsay, a couple of good offers came back to me from other dealerships. I let Lindsay know what I had offered and could she and Rice do better. Well they did. Now Lindsay was dealing with me via email and phone while she was home with pneumonia. Evidently illness does not stop her in her tracks. We even had 3 way calls with her manager and coworker, Frank, who would being helping us at the showroom. Frank did a great job, going out with us on a drive, handling our purchase details, giving me some quick lessons on operations of some new features in the Limted, etc. All this and he still managed to help several other customers while we handled paperwork. I never felt neglected, instead quite comfortable. I love my new car and I would quickly recommend to others to check our Rice Toyota. The fair price and the personnel, Lindsay and Frank, are worth the trip. More
I really appreciate Lindsay working with me for so long. I dealt with her for over a week through emails. I had gotten quotes from 3 dealerships. It was between Rice and another dealership. The prices were very close and Lindsay was willing to meet the price. I test drove the Rav4 4-cylinder and loved it. I returned the car the evening of 12/23/09 and I told Frank Anderson, that I would let him know something in the next few days. Well, me and my husband ended up at the dealership at 9AM when they opened on 12/24/09. Frank didn't know we were coming, so he hadn't come in yet. We went out and looked at Rav4's on the lot and we saw a dark colored one and when we looked at it, we saw it was a V6, which my husband preferred and we loved the color. The receptionist told us that Anthony Parker could help us. He checked with management and they said that they could do the same deal that they were doing on the 4-cylinder. We were very pleased with the deal that we made and everyone was really great to work with. We look forward to working with you in the future. More
