Even though the lady scheduling our oil change and recall review forgot to tell the service department, they graciously went ahead with everything. my young service manager was excellent: he listened well and kept me well informed. I have brought up the fact that both of my 4runners have given me a oil maintenance due at 5k miles instead of the actual and kept me well informed. I have brought up the fact that both of my 4runners have given me a oil maintenance due at 5k miles instead of the actual 10k to several other service managers and each said "that's a Toyota thing, we can't do anything." This has contributed to my overall opinion that Toyota of Des Moines is arrogant and the reason I went to Ames to buy this 2021. The kid I had this time actually pursued the matter and let me know that the deanship would pass on my complaint. My advice to you is to fire some of the old guys and hire kids. Then try not to ruin them. Although arrogance usually starts at the top. It spreads into the techs too: the "top" mechanic rode in my car when I brought it back a 2nd time for squealing in the wheels. As the car was returned to me I found it squealing before I could get out of the parking lot; I turned around and drove it back in, the service manager called the top guy up to ride around town with me. He took it in back for about 30 minutes and when it came back up I was told it was dirt in the wheels. It started squealing again on the way home. I took the wheels off: the rotors were rusted- pieces of rust were coming off and causing the noise and wearing the disks. I used files and a power washer to finish the job your people were too lazy to do. My wife says she has encountered some arrogance when getting service for both of her cars (that she bought there) services. IN conclusion the kid that helped me on 2/15/2022 gets 5 stars, the rest of you in the service department get 1 star (except for the ladies at the desk- they get 5 stars). so I guess those 3 people are good enough to drag the rest of you up to 3 stars. Emily greeted me at my car! Apparently it was not my appointment time, I was off a week! She looked at her schedule and said she could fit me in! Thank you Emily!
