I inquired about a 4Runner via the internet. I was contacted the next day by a salesman named Liu via text. I was immediately asked to schedule a visit and “check out” the vehicle, but before do I was contacted the next day by a salesman named Liu via text. I was immediately asked to schedule a visit and “check out” the vehicle, but before doing so I asked what the price was since I know dealers are adding “market adjustments” to the vehicles on their lots and I wasn’t interested if the price was heavily marked up. To my surprise he responded that the vehicles price was the msrp. This was great, a dealership not marking up their cars is what I was looking for. I decided to rearrange my schedule for the day and head to the dealership to go ahead and start the process of purchasing. I had a trade-in as well so I was going to let them do an appraisal, too. So I get there and meet Liu, and he proceeds to tell me the car is not there, but should be in a couple weeks. I’m thinking to myself, why did you ask me to come “check out the vehicle” if it isn’t here. He goes on to tell me he has a used model he can show me, so I politely follow him around while he looks for it. During the walk he proceeds to tell me that these vehicles are all marked up at least $10k, so at that point I’ve had enough and ask him why he told the car was msrp. His answer: because I asked him for the price, not the “selling” price. Wow! Good luck to those who choose to do business with this dealership. More
