Best Vehicle Purchase I Ever Had! ...In my 72 years, I have owned vehicles from every US car maker, plus ones from Germany, England, and Japan...but this is the very first time I have ...In my 72 years, I have owned vehicles from every US car maker, plus ones from Germany, England, and Japan...but this is the very first time I have left a dealership without feeling like I had been taken advantage of somewhere along in the deal! Now that's a pretty powerful statement, because, as we all know...most dealerships have a bad rep for lying, cheating, and manipulating figures to gouge the buyer into paying the maximum in hidden charges. The great folks at Toyota of Corvallis obviously do not believe in that kind of business, and treated me like I was family, or at least a long time friend. ...I did a lot of research, contacting MANY dealerships in 11 states looking for the best deal, as I wanted to order a few special accessories with my 4Runner TRD OR, which meant it had to be built in Japan especially for me. Most of those I contacted did not want to even hear my request, as they were only looking for an easy deal and a quick buck. Some 'could' do it, but were not interested in any price under MSRP, and when I started this research almost 2 years ago, I was living in SoCal, where many dealerships were asking $5K Over MSRP....and getting it! The ONLY dealership willing to take my special order, and give me a price that was $2.25K Below MSRP was Toyota of Corvallis! ...I spent many phone calls and emails with the sales-manager, Scott Goff, as we ironed out the details and went over prices and costs and time-frame, etc. He has worked at this location for over 30 years, and really knows his stuff...and just turned out to be a great guy to work with and get to know! I felt like we had been friends for a long time by the time we met in person. Since placing the order last Fall, I moved up to Montana, and that alone saved me an additional $5K in taxes and registration fees down in California! The 4Runner arrived at Corvallis 10 days ago as was prepped and ready for me, and I drove the 851 miles over there to trade-in my Toyota Camry, as they gave me a fair deal on that with a KBB price. ...After a friendly face-2-face meet-n-greet, Scott turned me over to Sam Callanan, the internet-sales-manager, who was also turned out to be a terrific guy...and we took a test-drive in my new vehicle, and then sat down for quite some time as he went over all the new features on this vehicle with me. There was no rushing me out the door, and I was treated like a returning customer who had a long history of buying vehicles from these nice folks! THIS, was NOT like any other experience I have ever had anywhere else while buying a car! These people did not put on the typical false-smile, and felt genuine and open. Since then, Sam has called me to see if everything was to my satisfaction...from the buying experience to owning and driving the vehicle 851 miles back to my place. He also followed up with an email with all of his contact details, in case I have any questions in the future. ...But, after he went over All the features, Sam turned me over to the finance-manager, Laura Read, another very pleasant and friendly person...who methodically and thoroughly went over all the paperwork I had to sign, as I was buying the vehicle in Oregon, yet registering it back in Montana. This is usually the point where most dealerships try to upsell you on a lot of useless, unnecessary, and costly add-ons to inflate the final out-the-door price. Laura did not do this. She patiently explained what could be beneficially added, but there was no pressure to buy it right at that moment, or even at all down the line. It was simply offered for my consideration, and I truly appreciated that. Laura was also able to get me a very good rate on the financing, and was kind and gentle as she laid out the scary figures when buying any new vehicles these days! ...As I stated at the opening of this review, this was the very first and only time I have ever purchased a vehicle without driving away with buyer's remorse for the way I had been treated! ALL the great folks at Toyota of Corvallis were a joy to work with, and I only have one regret at this point...and that is, I won't be taking my 4Runner back there for servicing, as a one-way drive of 851 miles seems just a little excessive?! Oh, and of course, there is the downside of having to pay for it...but that has nothing to do with those great folks!...LOL! ...I should also add in conclusion, that Scott and Sam are willing to give anyone else the same great deal they gave me...so if you're in the market, go ahead and give them a call...( tell them Bill sent ya! )... More
