On 14 December 2011 presented my 2005 Toyota Camry Solara for service including replacement of left front wheel bearing. Several days later started to hear sounds coming from left front wheel similar to the for service including replacement of left front wheel bearing. Several days later started to hear sounds coming from left front wheel similar to the sounds that caused my initial visit. Returned the car on 26 December 2011. This visit resulted in the wheel bearing being replaced again along with other parts including the left axle. Picked the car up on 27 December 2011. On 29 December 2011 had to have the car towed into the dealership due to LOUD screeching noise originating from the left front wheel. This time it was alleged that the brake pad was improperly installed and was scraping the rotor. My Christmas Holidays were ruined and the safety of me and my family was jeopardized repeatedly as the result of shoddy workmanship. More
I was in the market for a used car, and had done much searching for a great used car. I was looking for a very specific vehicle, so finding one locally was difficult, when the seems to only be around 10 searching for a great used car. I was looking for a very specific vehicle, so finding one locally was difficult, when the seems to only be around 10 on the market at anyone time in the Mid-West with the right features (i.e. color, interior, transmission, engine, trim package, etc.). I am very good at buying vehicles out of state and over the internet with out problems, as I have purchased most of my vehicles this way for around 10 years with-out ANY issues at all. There are a lot of horror stories out there about buying on-line or on E-bay but I believe that I have been able to do this with no issues do to being extremely thorough. I spoke to the Sales person, Jim, 5 or six times before making the decision to take a 7 hour drive to look at the car (and of course buy it and bring it home... since I had been so thorough I knew there were no problems.) When I arrived it only took at 20 seconds to realize that Jim had not been honest with me at all. AFter looking at the horrible scratched rear number, the large ding in the driver door the scratches in the driver fender, the rock chips in the front bumper and hood, and the dent the passenger rear quarter panel. I asked Jim What is this!... do you remember when I asked you to please take a picture of every single imperfection on the interior and exterior, including paint chips, dents, dings, rust and so on, so that I will not be surprised of anything on this car, if i decide to come and take a look at it. I realize that this is a used car, so there WILL be a few of this issues, but I do not want any surprises!" Jim replied, " Sir I am going to take some pictures for you, but I do not know what to take a picture of to show you, because there are no dents, nicks, dings, or scratches of any type. This car is in show room condition. It does not need anything, and you are really going to be impressed when you come to look at it. " I said great I am looking forward to it (obviously, right? I mean if there car has everything that I am looking for with no imperfections.. then I would be excited to have this one) As you can see this was not the case.... I asked Jim " Why did you Lie to me about this car?" Jim responded " I did not lie to you" I asked Jim, "Have you shown this car to anyone else?" (BTW I already knew that they had... because he had told be on the phone) Jim responded, " Yes I have." I asked Jim, "Did the person you showed the car to not notice all of these imperfections? Jim responded, "Well... umm.. yes, i guess they may have noticed one or two of them" I asked Jim, "then you were aware of the issues" Jim responded, "i guess" I asked Jim, " then why did you lie to me?" Jim responded, " I did not lie to you" see where this conversation is going?? No Where. I felt like I was teaching an Elementary School class, and babysitting Jim, as his professionalism was the worst that I have ever seen. I feel that he should have been fired for that alone, and he has not. Because of this I want to be sure that others are not taken but this guy. Do not trust a work this man says, he does not care about you, and just wants to sell a car. I would imagine if this behavior is tolerated that the entire dealership is this way, too (just my opinion). By the way, Jim had assured me in our earlier phone conversations, that he was very good at his job, since he had been doing this for 9 years. Apparently 9 years was a great opportunity to learn how to leave his morals behind. Please be careful ! Also... I drove the car, as I wanted to see what else the guy lied about. everything was pretty good, except when taking off, and it felt like the car was going to fall apart from the shanking... it felt like a warped flywheel / pressure plate, and i would guess it need an whole new clutch kit. I was promised the car had been through their maintenance department, and all mechanical issues were repaired, and the car was going to be professionally detailed.. once again a LIE. All of the floor mats, and console / cup holder rubber pieces where also found in the truck and glove compartment, covered in EXTREME filth and grime. If they can't even detail the car how much do they care??? The manager did fill my tank, and tried to help with the situation... but there was nothing to do.. wasted my day and would not compensate me for the tank I used on the trip down there. As a professional business owner it could be said that I have high standards on how a person should be treated in a business transaction, but I am certain that ANY person would have been very upset at these circumstances. I showed the dealership that certified check I had bank write, as i was paying for the car In-Full... and that I was not there to play around, but I did not buy the car, and I will never do business here again.
