On test drive, Irving was good at explaining the features of the car (hence 1 star). After signing a scrap piece of paper, including the items I needed and indicating that I was sincere, I asked Irving to ge of the car (hence 1 star). After signing a scrap piece of paper, including the items I needed and indicating that I was sincere, I asked Irving to get the ‘out-the-door-price’. He was gone for 15 minutes or more. Meanwhile Tyler comes over to check me out and small talk. Then Oscar comes over with Irving trying to give a list of everything to be included in the bottom line…blah, blah. I made an offer and made sure it included the missing Weather Mats (as described in the Ad), a second Key, and a Tow Bar (since that was the main reason I was buying the Prime which can tow 2500 lbs.). After making me sign a scrap of paper (with an X and a line), he said he’ll check with the manager. Another 20 minutes go by and another salesperson comes over to chat and shake hands. Then Raphael comes over to explain that, “We don’t make money on cash deals. We get a commission from the bank on loans. Plus, since you are so far away, we are not going to see any oil changes or maintenance business. So this will be it.” I then reluctantly agreed to up my offer by $1,000 as long as it includes the mats, key and tow bar. “I’ll check”. Another long delay. He comes back trying to explain some ‘Santander Coupon Program’ (xx) for financing. “Can’t change, that’s their coupon program, blah blah blah…” “I’m ready to pay cash right now.” He goes away, someone else comes to shake hands and ask about my hat. Then another ‘boss’, Emmanuel, comes over and tries to explain how their prices are low compared to surrounding dealers (blah, blah…). “This is all I have,” I said. If you can’t do it, I’ll leave.” After 5 hours, I am now in my car ready to leave and Irving comes running out and says he’ll call the owner. Comes back with Tyler who explains a plan to take out a loan, pay 3 months interest (about $300 after a $30,000 down payment) and with a price that is lower than my 2 offers. I agree. I go back inside. “Here’s the best I can do.” Now his offer is $800 more than my last offer and no Tow Bar. I then even agreed to the $800 but it had to include the $295 Tow Bar. “Can’t do Tow Bar.” “Too bad. For a $295 difference on almost $50,000 you could have had a deal. Goodbye”. Who knows how many times I was going to have to argue before I finally got to sign the contract. Car Salesman xx. Well I am so, so glad that I didn’t make a mistake. I came home to write this review and started reading other reviews. Five Stars is xx. Notice they only have either 5 star or 1 star reviews. The 5 stars are most likely fake and written by the employees themselves. Armond must be a millionaire based on the number of sales he supposedly made. Only believe the 1 stars and pay attention to the comments about the service after the sale. Next time I’ll read reviews of the dealer first. xx tactics: make you wait; make your think you are getting a higher authority with each ‘manager’; trying to get to know you and have you feel like they are working with you; make you sign a scrap of paper (any piece of paper) to bring to boss to show you are committed (4 times, each person); lots of handshaking; trying to wear you out (you’ve invested this much time)…. Also, the missing mats and second key are holdouts that they hope you pay extra for or they then ‘throw in’ as a compromise. Also, they said that this ‘Award Winning’ dealership doesn’t install tow bars. So, during one of the long delays, I went to the parts department (yea that’s how much of a delay) and got a written quote on the tow bar: $948.96 not installed! The tow bar is a $295 accessory on the Toyota.com website which is still double the price of what I could get on the internet for the same OEM part. I went on their computer (during one of the delays) so I could point it out to them. I imagine them taking bets & laughing their xxxxx off each time they sent someone over. “I’ll close this deal…” They were probably having coffee and watching the clock just to kill time. More
