I have a 2002 Camry with many miles. I was at work in Bergen county when I heard a noise. I pulled into a local place only to find that I needed to spend over $1000 to fix my car. They told me when they Bergen county when I heard a noise. I pulled into a local place only to find that I needed to spend over $1000 to fix my car. They told me when they looked at it they did a "free" check of the whole vehicle only to find many problems. What a lie!!! They were vague on what the problems were. I took the rest of the day off and went to Toyota Universe because that is where I bought it and they were nice at that time, as well as every time I was there since. Jerry told me they would need a few minutes to check it out. While they did that, I had 2 televisions to choose from to watch t.v., computers to go on the internet, newspapers, and coffee all waiting for me in their new waiting area for FREE. I did not have my kids, but if I did...they had video games, a play area, and a t.v.- just for kids!!!!!!! Back to the car- Jerry came to me and told me I had a clamp or something that holds the muffler up come loose and the part just needed to be reattached!!!!!! Did you read that...Reattached!!! And the place by my office was telling me the car was in need of repairs. I mentioned that to Jerry and he told me that they did an inspection and all I needed was to stop by for an oil change because I told him afterwards that the car is a few hundred miles over the milage expected to have the next one. When I got to my car I found out I got a free car wash too!!!!!! More
It was a pleasure to work with Remy Braddock. He was very professional, customer friendly, and gave me a terrific deal on my new Rav4. He made sure I was happy with my car as if he was a personal friend. I a professional, customer friendly, and gave me a terrific deal on my new Rav4. I was recommended to this dealership by a friend who made an earlier purchase. I made an appointment to visit the dealer and had only told remy the model and color I was interested in. I showed up early and an earlier purchase. I made an appointment to visit the dealer and had only told remy the model and color I was interested in. I showed up early and remy was busy with another customer. Nevertheless remy had me outside, test driving the exact car I spoke of. He was personable and genuine tended to all my needs and still made time for me after the sale. Me and the client remy was helping left at the same time. The way remy multitasks was nothing short of amazing, never has buying a car been so simple and I really felt good about my purchase. I've kept with tradition and recommended the dealership and made sure they asked for him by name. More
My wife and I were in the market for a SUV with a third row to help with our expanding family, but were not intersested in buying new at this point. We came to toyota univ. to look at a 2004 Merc. Mountai row to help with our expanding family, but were not intersested in buying new at this point. We came to toyota univ. to look at a 2004 Merc. Mountaineer. The vehicle we ended up buying was in bueatiful shape, and appeared to have been wroking properly. We aranged a deal, and told the salesman that we were going to think about it, as we had one more vehicle to look at before we "pulled the trigger" on the Mountaineer. The original deal was for $7000. cash and a trade in of $3000 including a 100,000/ 5yr warrantee...sweet deal right? Well we returned later that afternoon, and were told that the deal was not valid, and that our salesman had lied to us. So they came back after much diliberation with a $8500.00 cash with $3000.00 trade in, tax/tags/lic. fees not included and no warrantee. After much argument and dealing from both ends we ended up paying the 8500, and they allowed a trade for another car we had which was of lesser value, and threw the warrantee back in. Part of the agreement was that they provide service to a few options on the vehicle that weren't working. (Back up sensor and such) I brought the vehicle back to the dealership after placing eleven phone calls and leaving eleven messages. On the way back to the dealership the vehicle's engine began to loose power and nearly stalled on Route 80. I told them about it, and there theory is that it's not applicable to the service contract or the NJ Lemon Law, and all they will cover is the drive train, engine and trans for Lemon law incidents. In the process of waiting three hours + to even hear what is wrong with the car before I can tell them to fix it, even if it's at my own expense at this point. I also recently learned the the Sales rep was let go for striking this deal with us, and is working somewhere else. This man, Louis Gomes was a fantastic salesman and really tried to make this deal happen and I wish him luck wherever he is. Toyota Universe is a fancy dealership with alot of showy extras that make people feel safe and secure. The underside to it is that they are a car dealership, plain and simple, and they are only out for the bottom line, and really don't have any intent in satisfying a person who spent (basically) $11,000 cash in their place of business. I had fully intended on building a relationship with the dealership and purchasing our new car here in less then a year when we are ready to make that move. Not anymore. I am completely disatisfied with the managment of this compnay and warn anyone who intends on shopping here to be on your toes and pay attention to what is told to you, and what they offer you. They may slide in and backhand the deal! As far as employees, they have some top knoch people (non-managment). A gentlemen in the service dept. trully wanted to help, but could not because of his boss telling him "fix what you have to, and do nothing more". All personell in the showroom are friendly and have helped answer questions. So people on the low end of the payscale are great....just watch those managers! In conclusion, the only benifit to me at this store is the free popcorn and good conversation with some sales reps... I can see that others have had a positive experience here, and I'm sure most of you will, but my experience was horrible, and personally would never recommend anyone to this establishment. More

When I went in with my wife the dealership was nicely presented and I was helped hassels and I would strongly recommend anyone to go to this dealer. When I went in with my wife the dealership was nicely presented and I was helped right away and did not have to wait for a salesperson to help me. I was able to take mutliple vehicles for a test ride until I was comfortable with the one I chose. More
I was looking for a newer Tacoma with low mileage and a 4 cylinder and they had one on their site. I had a Tundra which I`d been very happy with but the gas mileage was not that great. I called to see if it cylinder and they had one on their site. I had a Tundra which I`d been very happy with but the gas mileage was not that great. I called to see if it were still available and it was. My wife and I drove down and met with Peter the salesperson. In dealing with him, I felt that he was honest and forthcoming. We struck a deal for my trade-in and the Tacoma. What I was even more impressed with was that even after the deal was signed and I got my truck, a couple of minor mishaps happened with it that he took care of right away with it. And he really didn`t have to. Also, he called later on after a few days after purchase just to check how things were going with the vehicle. I can`t recommend Peter enough. Would deal with him and ToyotaUniverse again in a second and have already recommended them to family. Also, we love the new truck! More

Based on my experience, I would recommend you stay far away from this dealer. I bought a used Corolla earlier this year only to discover the next day it was missing an important safety feature that should away from this dealer. I bought a used Corolla earlier this year only to discover the next day it was missing an important safety feature that should have been included. This missing part was of course not pointed out by the salesman. My attempts to resolve my dispute with the dealer have been futile. They give you lots of promises, but they are just lies and they have no intention of taking care of customers once they have the customer's money. Very dishonest dealer! I wonder if the positive ratings in this forum are genuine. Notice that this dealer does not cooperative with dealerrater.com or the better business bureau. That tells you all you need to know about their reputation! Again, stay away! More
