Excellent Experience!!! Me and my girlfriend were in the market for a new vehicle but did not want to go through the whole car buying process. We were greeted by the salesperson (Calvin) and he could not have made it any simpler for us. Not only was he able to find the vehicle for us, he was also able to explain all the features and show us how to operate them. He took his time explaining all of our options when it came to the financing as well. I've never really liked the car buying process, but Calvin and the managers at Thompson made it comfortable and easy for us during our purchase. I would highly recommend Calvin if you are in the market for a vehicle! More
Thompson Dodge is great and Calvin Reed is the BEST I bought a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee form Calvin and had no problems and the whole process took an hour. Calvin is a great guy and easy to work with. HEINOUS & HORRENDOUS BUYING EXPERIENCE...YOU LOST A CUSTOMER I had to ponder over the holidays my intent on writing this review for numerous reasons however when I did reflect on the occurrence and the manner in I had to ponder over the holidays my intent on writing this review for numerous reasons however when I did reflect on the occurrence and the manner in which I was disrespected and treated I was compelled to put pen to paper so to speak and write this disheartening review of a local business and automotive dealership which I had come over the past 4-5 years to consider part of my family & friends and not just a business establishment. My personal experience with this dealership from the very beginning was one of trust, appreciation, value and integrity with the people I had the pleasure of coming into contact with when purchasing a number of vehicles over the years (15-50) with this particular Thompson Dealership in Baltimore. As they would say there is the general public, there are our preferred customers and then there is Mr. "V". My experience with the dealership whether it be the front of the house, service department, parts etc. was always a great experience and the encounters I had were always gracious and positive....the things you truly appreciate and come to value in customer service these days more than ever. I know this all too well as a Executive Director of Sales & Marketing for a major hotel chain worldwide and doing it 30 (+) years I can truly appreciate the value of a "great customer" patronizing your business when more than ever today we all have options to make purchases. As with any business people come and go and new people enter the scene and it the past 4 years the people I came to know were great if not better.......however that statement and sentiments cannot be stated at this time as the recent management hires are anything but....... It is said in business it starts with hiring the right individual's and talent set for the job.....the old adage you get what you pay for rings true now more than ever! So on my recent visit to the Thompson Dodge Dealership on North Point Boulevard I once again met with my Sales Manager over the years Kathy McKinney, who has over the years been more than my sales professional but a person with whom I would consider a friend. I visited the dealership Friday December 22nd of this year (2017) to look at a sports car manual stick as I am an American Muscle car guy at heart! As always Kathy had the car ready, we test drove it and returned to the dealership to start the paperwork process. Mind you I didn't need a new/used vehicle I wanted to acquire it as a Christmas gift to me from me and appreciated the aspects of this particular sports car. However, upon walking the vehicle there were two things very obvious to me that had to be addressed right away (1) the tires had to be replaced with all season performance tires as the current tires on the car were summer tires, and, (2) there was no Sirius XM transponder so that had to be added to the vehicle. This additional cost was approximately for both items $1800.00. We sat down provided the required documents and mileage and Kathy did her thing........shortly thereafter she returns with a list of numbers that upon first glance were appalling and downright insulting. Mind you I know a lot about the automotive industry and the practices of pricing, selling, trading, etc. and as a Executive Sales Director this certainly is not my first rodeo. When I looked at the offer on my trade which was for a 2010 Cadillac SRX Luxury Sports Performance SUV in excellent condition the Sales Manager providing the trade in value on my SUV (Greg Chilton) seriously low balled the number by $3000.00.....I thought to myself really we are going to play this game? Mind you I'm a definite sell so we just need to find the "sweet spot" in the price and the deal is done....how many dealers wouldn't want this situation day in and day out! So armed with my paperwork and supporting documents from other local dealerships I said go back as this is what the vehicle is worth today at this time with the current mileage. Needless to say he decided to play hardball and not listen nor take into my account who I was or the number of vehicles I have purchased from this dealership let alone the number of people I have recommended to this dealership over the past 5 years and actually purchased vehicles. I had a budget of the trade-in value of my SUV and $9,000.00 in cash to close the deal. Instead of even considering all this and the two (02) items I would have to address right after I purchased the car I was left to feel in the following manner: (1) As a CUSTOMER I was not being listened to or valued but more or less being heard and treated as if my business as a LOYAL CUSTOMER did not warrant any relevance, (2) as a business courtesy I graciously came up another $1,000.00 on my cash offer of $9,000.00 plus the trade and never heard the courtesy of a reply, (3) the value of my vehicle was so undervalued it was nothing short of gross negligence and bordered on criminal, (4) the consideration of having to install (4) new tires and transponder on this vehicle was never taken into consideration as if I was BANK, (4) the counter discount on my difference on the price of the vehicle was an additional $2,400.00 which I had to laugh when the Sales Manager Greg Chilton came back and had the audacity to offer a $400.00 discount......it was more of an insult than being a good business person. At this point I felt dismissed as if not did my business not matter to this dealership anymore but more importantly I DID NOT MATTER ANY LONGER AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER. It takes years in any business to develop customers...it takes only seconds to lose them. Sadly to say the THOMPSON FAMILY OF DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP has lost more than a customer. At no time did the dealership or anyone in upper management even get involved and say "this is wrong" and this is no way to treat a customer like Mr. "V".....the whole situation and the manner in which it was handled has left a very disgusting taste in my mouth and has made me truly rethink ever doing business again with this dealership if ever. I can no longer support or recommend any business that mistreats a LOYAL CUSTOMER in such a manner that thinks I would be supporting or recommending your product and services to the public.....I can no longer do so and will not...quite conversely I will advocate that anyone including future customers who read this elect to go elsewhere to make an automotive purchase. The thought in your mind should be if this is how they treat a CUSTOMER who has purchased (15-20) cars from them how are they going to treat me and my business or budgetary needs? THEIR NOT........when you no longer care or have compassion and it's all about the buck your success in any business will come to an immediate end. In today's climate and social media no business can afford bad commentary and service surveys any longer...they will cost you business, customers and ultimately your livelihood. What this dealership failed to do along with the Sales Manager who was all about the buck and not his customer....they forgot that without people like myself you don't have business and without customers you don't have a livelihood and without customers you ultimately don't have a job to come too. If your looking to make a purchase on your next vehicle in the Baltimore Area I would strongly encourage you and urge you to visit dealerships such as Koon's Chevrolet in White Marsh, Adams Jeep Dodge in Annapolis, Koon's Jeep Dodge in Tysons Corner and TRUST me your business and budget will be VALUED and APPRECIATED! When you are making the second largest purchase in your life it should be a joyous occasion and not a nightmare. More
Excellent Buying Experience! I was searching for a specific Mustang and found one at Thompson Chrysler on AutoTrader. I contacted the dealership via email and Rod responded. I l I was searching for a specific Mustang and found one at Thompson Chrysler on AutoTrader. I contacted the dealership via email and Rod responded. I live in Michigan so Rod was very helpful with additional pictures and deal information. His communication through email and text message was excellent. We made a deal, he didn't even ask for a down payment to hold the car until I could make travel arrangments. Thompson's courtesy van picked me up at the airport. Steve the driver was great, drove safely and was polite and courteous. Rod met me out front where they had the car sitting, all cleaned up and looking great. We took the car for a test drive and everything with the car was great. Rod had taken care of all the paperwork before I arrived so basically all I had to do was sign. Bo the finance person took care of all the loan paperwork and the sale was done. I drove the Mustang 500+ miles home and it was excellent! Overall I found Thompson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Baltimore and it's employees, Rod, Bo and Steve in particular excellent to deal with and talk to. I would highly recommend this dealership. More
