Moved 4 hours away shortly thereafter and our brakes were grinding after a year and a half use. We drive over the pass regularly for work so this needed attention. We went to McCurley Subaru nearer to us and they told us our brakes were ground down to the metal, Pads were at 1, and not only did all pads need replacing but the rotors needed replacing as well and it’d cost us $1500. We opted out and it was my idea to call Tacoma Subaru for a second opinion. Patrick answered, we explained what McCurley told us and immediately he said that this shouldn’t be anywhere near happening so soon, although it’s possible but unlikely, AND… that it’d be covered under something called New Car Warranty with no cost to us. We dropped it off during one of our visits to the West Side and when all said and done the pads were still at an 8! There was nothing wrong with the Rotors either. This was both a huge relief but demoralizing that a dealership (McCurley) could: Miss a detail so crucial to the operation of the car, so potentially costly to us (Not recognizing the Warranty) when in fact it was covered under warranty. Patrick was fantastic to work with and mystified at the diagnosis given to us from the other dealer as would anyone and were we but respectfully didn’t speculate any assumed intentions. Our breaks worked wonderfully after and finally was without that grinding sound. Skip forward a few months and we just had our 30,000 mile tune up where the pads were still at an 8. Now Tacoma Subaru has this wonderful and informative Video walkthrough process showing and explaining what was checked, worked and was left needed. They send this to us after the work is finished before we pick up the car. This takes the guesswork out of work being done with this Transparency Video. After what happened at McCurley Subaru a video like this really gives confidence back to the customer. The only extra that was needed was our Air Filter which looked like it had been laying out in a sandy wind storm for years so it was certainly needed living in a windy desert. The Shop is incredibly clean, all the staff are incredibly helpful and we will only take our Subaru’s to this shop even though it’s a 4 hour drive one way as it takes the Guesswork out of wether or not to Trust if our car is going to get the McCurley Subaru diagnosis or the transparent Tacoma Subaru full work through. I’m glad we bought our car at Tacoma Subaru and it was on our Reps last day before retiring. We weren’t aware of all the technology advancement while on the test drive so when he instructed us not to touch the gas pedal or the breaks at the Red Light… one could tell he was having fun watching us squirm with discomfort while trusting that we weren’t going to stop and crash into the car in front of us. It was a great experience and again, the staff here at Tacoma Subaru all have been great. Thank you Patrick, for saving us and giving us this long distance relationship with confidence! More
I will never purchase a car from this dealership again, their finance department sucks and they sell you a lot of add ons/ try to take advantage. If you purchased an extended warranty from this dealership, be certain that you know what you are purchasing. The finance manager outlined everything that the "Premier" package included, which esse dealership, be certain that you know what you are purchasing. The finance manager outlined everything that the "Premier" package included, which essentially was bumper to bumper. I chose to not purchased the full package, but just the 6 year mechanical breakdown premier coverage. I was told it would cover the vehicle bumper to bumper for 6 years and that they would throw in one year of key coverage and one year of tire and wheel coverage at no charge. Tire and wheel coverage was supposed to cover any damage to the tires/wheels other that normal wear and tear. When I went to use the coverage (I curbed one of my rims), I was told by the warranty company that cosmetic damage was not covered. When I called and spoke to the finance manager, he said that cosmetic coverage is only covered under the 6 year premier plan. I was not told that there were any exclusions based on the length of coverage. I emailed the dealership about my issue, and have heard exactly ZERO from anyone other than the Internet sales rep, who has no authority, and I assume is given the responsibility to oversee the incoming emails. I've been blown off now for over two weeks with no response. At. All. Beware of substandard customer service after they get your money. Very disappointing. More
