Caveat Emptor: In the simplest words, steer clear of Suburban Ford (Waterford, MI)! On the first day of this month, I saw a car advertisement on a second party website for vehicles from car dealerships Suburban Ford (Waterford, MI)! On the first day of this month, I saw a car advertisement on a second party website for vehicles from car dealerships, and followed that to the dealership’s (Suburban’s) website. Both websites described a vehicle that seemed to align with my specifications for a used car. Over the course of six days, and a dozen telephone calls reassuring me that this was the vehicle I was seeking, I placed a $500 deposit to hold the car until my arrival. They offered to ship it to me since I live over 800 miles away. Thankfully, I did not accept. During this time, I applied for dealer financing, and came to an agreement on the price for my trade-in. The dealership’s finance department acted indifferently and unresponsively, so I obtained a letter of credit from my banking institution. It wasn’t until after making the over 800 mile, with the intention of trading in my car and driving home the purchased vehicle, that I discovered that the car in question was not what was described to me. Even when the car performed very poorly on the test drive, the dealership failed to be honest, citing the possible need for an air filter. At my expense, I took the car for analysis to another dealership in that town, and was told that it was not a stock vehicle – it was heavily modified, a project car, and ‘ragged’ out. The cost of repair would be enormous. Needless to say, I returned home without purchasing it. This fiasco was a huge waste of my energy, time, money, and mileage. Suburban Ford was disingenuous at best, and deceitful and malicious at worst. I believe the latter for the manner in which this transaction progressed. I Dodged a Bullet More
