Drove it, talked about it, came back, bought it. I spotted a vehicle I was interested in because I needed something reliable & not too pricy within a week for work & the Caravan I saw on Craig's List I spotted a vehicle I was interested in because I needed something reliable & not too pricy within a week for work & the Caravan I saw on Craig's List caught my eye. I was paying cash straight up & it was in my budget. John greeted me & got me a test drive pretty quickly. They sell a ton of cars & I suspect the lower costing vehicles don't get much attention, just get them off the lot. The price was marked up but I expected that also. There was a heating/AC issue that John promised to have fixed. Him & the other salesman that suddenly appeared I'm assuming to close the sale/negotiate the price. I am a bottom line guy & I was paying cash all up front so I told them to fix the air issue & Id Think about it and I was honest from the get-go and told them I was looking at other vehicles obviously. John called me back within 36 hours & told me it was fixed so I made him an offer. I was upfront with him & a tad brash because when I mentioned the car needing a fix like that before anybody would pay anything close to that price they were leaning toward telling me ' we have a full shop of certified mechanics here and we would be glad to get that fixed up for you & it wouldn't cost you that much more.' It was pretty obvious but they are salesman and I understand. I stop them before the conversation even went in that direction and told them to just contact me if and when that got fixed and they did right away. I made him a reasonable offer & he said he would have to check naturally. Then to my surprise John called me two days later and offered me the vehicle with the issue fixed for literally half the price. Everybody I spoke with said they never heard of such a thing and that was a red flag so I test drove it again and took it to my mechanic with their permission and there were a few things that needed fixing including the airbags being completely off-line which seemed strange for it being a minivan/family vehicle type but it could get expensive to fix so I think that's why they drop the price along with the manifold & intake starting to leak coolant/oil I would eventually lead to problems but everything included my tuneup costs were still below MY bottom line by several hundred dollars so I bought it on the spot. I think they wanted it off the lot at that point and they do big clearance sales on the lower end vehicles and John seems to basically hold it for me before I even had the insurance or a deposit down. He knew that vehicle would work for me because I was very forthcoming. It seems like as soon as they knew that I was a serious buyer and some more educated with my own mechanic ready to get me in within a half hour (clearly planned preemptively) they were ready to make that sale and they were professional & candid what's the price dropped. Again, they are salesman and I understand. It definitely was not worth the sticker price but the price they came down to was phenomenal but don't expect that every time folks. I was in the right time at the right place with the right salesman & he did his job, followed up with my reasonable cheap fix addressed as promised. I would recommend this dealership and this salesman as long as you are square from the start. Bring cash if it's under $6,000 & that will give you some negotiating power even if it's a big down payment. I don't get pushed around by salesman ever & they weren't pushy as soon as they realized I was all business just like them. Good deal. Friendly & competent. But I had to hunt for a good price as a savvy shopper should. And they came down so much it was an offer I couldn't refuse without much immediate work needed for me to feel safe & know that the vehicle is reliable. Hey, it's used & its 10 years old. It's not a brand-new Cadillac right of the line. And John did a fine job before I even told him I was 50% committed. I made it clear I was shopping elsewhere throughout the day because you should never buy the first thing you see. But they treated me like it was the only car for me. Even a little used sale like that & they sell so many it's hard for them to know the vehicles inside and out. And they addressed the only issue I had personally mentioned after the test drive then followed up and then drastically dropped the price. You can't ask for more than that but I had to wait them out a bit after I made it clear how serious I was. More

Mandy ensured that all of my questions were thoroughly answered and she gave me a better truck at the same price. I was surprised that she spent so much time walking me through the details and since I haven't owned a truck before, it was daunting to see the options. She made the whole process seamless and easy. I cannot say enough about her customer focus. Absolutely look forward to working with her in the future. More

Friendly, Business-Like, Legit Salesman Used car dealers are a dime a dozen and, in most cases, deserve every ounce of stigma associated with their profession. That said, Terry Lange is not Used car dealers are a dime a dozen and, in most cases, deserve every ounce of stigma associated with their profession. That said, Terry Lange is not your typical salesman. He was friendly and down to earth, prompt and respectful. At the same time, he definitely had a business-like approach that I could really appreciate as a former salesman myself. Price negotiation was fair, balanced, and based upon factual data (i.e. I had to earn it, there were no gimmes). The sales manager who finally closed the deal looked as if he'd perhaps had a few too many cups of coffee that morning, but even his aggressive approach did not strike me as "high pressure". Overall, everything was reasonable and I got a fair price on the vehicle I wanted. The only other thing I will mention is that you should definitely have the vehicle inspected by a third party. When I first test-drove the vehicle, the check engine light was off. The next day when I drove it to my mechanic, it came on. After the inspection, I was able to reduce the price based on the cost of the repair. Now, I am not going to accuse the dealership of turning it off temporarily. That would not be fair. But you are crazy if you don't get a trusted third party to inspect the vehicle before you make an offer. In this case, I give a lot of credit to Terry Lange, who encouraged me to get the inspection and even allowed me to travel the whole way to Waterford to have my personal mechanic (Datsun Doctor) look at the vehicle. It's that kind of flexibility that ultimately made this deal happen. If you're looking for a used car and find something you like at Suburban Ford, make sure to ask for Terry Lange! More
