Terrible experience - condescending It's common knowledge dealers screw you on price or interest rate or both. But the tactic I was subjected to for the first time is a repeated pattern It's common knowledge dealers screw you on price or interest rate or both. But the tactic I was subjected to for the first time is a repeated pattern of entrapment (put 500 down - without specifying interest rate or agreeing to the price, or the discount), waiting (please wait we are busy with other customers or I have to talk to the manager or let me go get your documents) and artificial scarcity (we already sold that one, we don't have any cars right now). For example, The sales person waited for an hour to get a folder from a room, got the folder only to start the negotiation again from scratch. It is a process designed to wear you down and make the wrong decision. They are simply not interested in honest business. And when the deal didn't work out rather than being polite and declining to do the deal, they start abusing and talking condescendingly "You do not want to buy a Subaru!??" Take your business elsewhere, do your research before, secure financing before hand and negotiate only on the price. Also keep your options open - Subarus aren't the only cars around. More
