I came to stingray Chevrolet on 5/18/24 along with my husband. I had a pre-approved loan and was ready to purchase. Our salesman was Matt. We proceeded to the lot to see the equinox LT’s available. I f husband. I had a pre-approved loan and was ready to purchase. Our salesman was Matt. We proceeded to the lot to see the equinox LT’s available. I found one I was willing to negotiate. When I asked Matt a question, he acted as if he didn’t understand yet comprehended when my husband asked the same question. He seemed to only be speaking to my husband as if I weren’t there. I found this to be rude and disrespectful. My husband redirected him more than once clarifying that I am the one buying the car. We agreed on a price and paperwork was drawn. My husband’s name was showing as the buyer. When I asked for this to be corrected Matt became agitated. Stating that it didn’t matter. He said it would take too long to change it to my name. He continued to insist that “It doesn’t matter”. The problem is it did matter to the person making the purchase. The loan was in my name. The payments would be coming out of my paycheck. My husband and I both agreed that I should be listed as the buyer. I don’t understand why it was such a big deal if it” doesn’t matter”. He then went on to explain (mansplain) things that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. The paperwork was reluctantly redone in my name. Unfortunately, my last name was incorrect. After putting up with more than I should have, I left the dealership without a new car. It had nothing to do with haggling over price. It had everything to do with being disrespected and patronized. I had no problem finding a similar Equinox LT to purchase at a different dealership. To my advantage I found a 2024 (with all the same options) at a lower price than the 2023 I planned to purchase at stingray. Stingray Chevrolet has always been our “go to” dealership. My husband and I as well as our daughter have purchased from them. Matt proved to be no asset to this dealership. He was easily irritated and disrespectful. Buying a car can be stressful but Matt made it unbearable. More
