My husband had done lots of research and decided that upon relocation back to the States, we would purchase a Hyundai Sonata for our family car. We arrived in Roanoke on November 19 and went to the loca upon relocation back to the States, we would purchase a Hyundai Sonata for our family car. We arrived in Roanoke on November 19 and went to the local dealership, First Team, on that next Tuesday. We were helped by Sonny Widener, who showed us the regular Sonatas and the Sonata Hybrids. We liked both and Sonny showed us all the features but did point out that one difference between the two was the size of the trunk, the hybrid had a slightly smaller trunk due to the battery. We thanked Sonny and said that we would go home, talk it over and return on Black Friday to test drive one of the Sonatas. We discussed the cars we had seen and decided that the trunk on the hybrid would be too small for us and that we would purchase the regular Sonata. I had also expressed to my husband that I would like any color but white. We forgot to mention this to Sonny when we returned on Friday, so the white hybrid was the first car he brought around to test drive. How funny is that. My husband said he would go ahead and test drive it anyway, although we were certain we wouldn't purchase it because of the smaller trunk and I had stipulated (to my husband) no white car. We brought that car back and test drove the regular Sonata next. Before getting into the regular Sonata, Sonny had to attend to a Hyundai Certified function so handed us off to Colby who went along for that drive. He went over the Values for Life Program that Sonny had highlighted and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time with him also. Long story short, we purchased the white hybrid on the spot. We had not intended to buy a car that particular day, only test drive, but absolutely fell in love with the car. My husband loved the way it drove and I had to admit that it was a beautiful looking car. The price was so attractive (only $2,800 more than a regular Sonata) that it just made sense for us. Other than the car, we loved a lot of other things about our experience. We really liked the no negotiation pricing. We have bought cars before where you say a price, then the sales representative says "let me check with my manager" and it goes back and forth from there. Those occasions were uncomfortable, exhausting and would leave us confused about the actual price we had paid for the car. We were very impressed with the service that comes with buying a car from First Team, from taking care of the tags to the Values for Life Program. We were treated as if Sonny had no other customers at all, just us. We weren't rushed or pressured or "talked into" anything from anyone. Kara went over the interior and exterior warranty options and my husband decided on one of those. She was very friendly and absolutely put no pressure on us to purchase it or not purchase it. She let it be our decision entirely. We were even introduced to Mr. David Dillon, President and General Manager, who gave us a $300 gift card for purchasing a car on Black Friday. Well done, First Team. We had never bought a car from this dealership before but this was the first time we actually enjoyed ourselves while purchasing a car. Honestly, how many people can say that? Shopped online for a good, low mileage used car, then visited dealership on Sunday, and even though they were closed, Horatio was there for another appointment. He showed me the car I came to see, asked visited dealership on Sunday, and even though they were closed, Horatio was there for another appointment. He showed me the car I came to see, asked me about my wants and needs, and then suggested another possibilty. I found I preferred the car he suggested - it was actually a better deal - and bought it. Horatio knows his inventory and is very client service oriented - best car buying experience I have had in 30 years of buying. Brandon (F&I) was equally good to work with. No sales pressure, reasonable prices, great financing - I'd buy from these two again. More
