This is our second Subaru from First Team in 2 years. I liked my wife's Forester so much decided to get one for me. Found a great used 2010 Forester that was priced well. Linda and Holly were my sales re liked my wife's Forester so much decided to get one for me. Found a great used 2010 Forester that was priced well. Linda and Holly were my sales reps., we got our other Forester from Linda in 2011. Sales process was easy and relative quick, being a Saturday. All the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. All questions answered. After the test drive there was a small service issue that was taken care of same day. This is my third vehicle from this dealer, the other being a Nissan pickup purchased in 1993 which I still have. Car shopping and buying is never fun but this dealer tries to make it as easy as possible. Every questions answered, concern met. If there was any negative was that the car didnt come with even a used set of floor mats. Would buy from First Team again. More
I recently purchased an Impreza at First Team, having purchased a BRZ (sweet!!!) just two months or so before. Additionally, in the past my wife has purchased Subarus here. Our experiences with this de purchased a BRZ (sweet!!!) just two months or so before. Additionally, in the past my wife has purchased Subarus here. Our experiences with this dealership have all been positive. Bill Scott, the salesman for both my vehicles, seemed to understand from the outset what my wants (a BRZ!!!) and expectations were, and was able to answer and even anticipate questions. I found him easy to work with, and I believe I got good deals each time. Without exception, other staff members--salespersons, receptionist, and Juan the finance guy--have been both friendly and helpful. Juan found me a attractive finance rate both times, and did some looking to do so. I have always liked the "no haggle" philosophy at First Team, and each time my wife or I have purchased a car there we have felt we were fairly treated and given a fair price and a fair trade. Over the years, I've known more than one dealer I wouldn't use the word "fair" to describe, so all the "fairs" in the previous sentence constitute high praise in my book. My wife and I were very pleased with the First Team service department with her cars in the past, and I trust I will continue to be when I bring my two vehicles in for service. Initial impressions with Greg, the Subaru service manager, were very positive in dealing with a minor problem with my BRZ. All in all, to this point all my experiences with this dealership have been positive, and I would rate them very highly. More

I have purchased many cars over the years and typically I hate car shopping! Why? Because I hate dealing with car salesmen who are pushy, rude, and try to force me into something I may not really want. So hate car shopping! Why? Because I hate dealing with car salesmen who are pushy, rude, and try to force me into something I may not really want. So - when I got to First Team Hyundai and met Allen Perry, I was certainly very pleasantly surprised! He met me and introduced himself and asked if there was anything he could help me with. I told him I was "just looking" and he could not have been more helpful! He showed me different cars with different options but was always respectful about what I might really be looking for. I cannot even begin to tell you how impressed I was with Mr. Perry throughout the entire process. He never made me feel like he "expected" me to buy a car from him - he simply showed me the choices and explained all the services offered by the dealership. As he was going over the warranty and dealer information, I knew immediately I was not going to leave the showroom without buying a car. Mr. Perry was professional, courteous, and so very easy to work with. I would not only recommend this dealership, but I would also highly recommend Mr. Perry if you're looking for a salesman who is extremely knowledgeable about the vehicles and presents everything in a friendly manner. Thank you Mr. Perry and thank you First Team Auto Mall Hyundai! More
I rate their customer service as deeply incompetent. Oh, the car (2000 Lincoln Continental) is very good, but their sales person, D.C. Whoever, knew nothing about the car, perhaps cars in general. We asked the car (2000 Lincoln Continental) is very good, but their sales person, D.C. Whoever, knew nothing about the car, perhaps cars in general. We asked for a manual. He said it didn't have one. We looked in the glove box and found the manual. Why didn't he know? As we test-drove it we felt a slight shimmy in the front. He said he heard it, too, and we'd get a 30-day warranty and could have it fixed at no cost to us. We took it to a neutral shop and found that the front wheel bearings were in need of replacement. My wife called this D.C. person and he told her he doubted the bearings were bad because it would not have passed inspection. First, inspections don't include front bearings, and, second, many dealerships don't inspect any of their used vehicles; they just slap on the sticker in order to sell it. We're not fools. As a result, we bought bearings and had them installed. So, First Team Auto Mall got away with not honoring their warranty. (My wife asked if First Team would reimburse the cost of the bearings and the installation, but she was told, no.) Then, get this: we were issued a temp license plate and told the permanent plates would arrive by mail. We had 30 days. No license plates ever came. We went to the DMV 8/24/2012 to find out why because we had verified that a license number had been assigned by DVM along with a title number. It was suggested we check with the D.C. character at First Team to see if the plates were there. They were and had been for sometime. We were never notified. DMV personnel was stymied. Why were we never notified? Because their customer service is incompetent. The upshot is, we will never buy another vehicle from First Team no matter how good the deal is. We will not recommend them, but we will warn our friends and family to stay away. It is sad when a reputable business has no reputation and is represented by persons who DO NOT CARE! We paid cash for the Lincoln, by the way, and asked this D.C person to hold the check until the next day when funds would be debited to the account. He, or someone else, put in through immediately and the result was that we were charged a $35 insufficient funds fee. First Team doesn't care once they have the money. Any problems the customer has as the result of their blatant incompetence is too bad. Not their problem! So, we are very disgruntled customers. We will talk about First Team to others, and since I am a writer who is published in the Roanoke Times fairly often, I may write about it as well. Letter to the editor, maybe. Frederick Fuller More
