Our car (2015 Outback) battery died last week. We were lucky enough to get it started and drive it straight to Southern Oregon Subaru for evaluation. I am a recent leg amputee and a reliably starting ve lucky enough to get it started and drive it straight to Southern Oregon Subaru for evaluation. I am a recent leg amputee and a reliably starting vehicle is VERY IMPORTANT to us. I wanted no part of an uncertain start to our days, particularly when we have medical appointments. When we got to the dealership, the Technician (O'Brien) was very courteous, informative, and competent as he outlined what he would do to check the battery. We had forgotten that we had replaced the battery about two years ago here at Southern Oregon Subaru. O'Brien reminded us that if we needed a replacement, it could be covered under warranty. After the testing, the Service Department speedily replaced the battery for no charge. We drove away, thankful for the compassion and competence of the staff and for their integrity during the whole interaction. I will heartily endorse this dealership to my family and friends. My daughter and I went on a wild tangent about a week and a half/two weeks ago. I woke up wanting to go find and buy a truck. [ just for the record I never did find the truck I wanted...] We went to a couple a half/two weeks ago. I woke up wanting to go find and buy a truck. [ just for the record I never did find the truck I wanted...] We went to a couple of different car lots, at which not a single person came out to greet us. My daughter is an avid Toyota fan, and I a jeep fan, but we figured hey why not try Southern Oregon Subaru since we were literally about a block down the road from them. At this point my daughter said to me, "I have heard really good things about Subaru vehicles, and would not mind getting one as an upgrade one day." As we walked the lot of Southern Oregon Subaru, we were pleasantly surprised when AJ came walking out to greet us, and even though he was wearing a mask [corona virus demand] we could tell from first impressions his eyes were smiling and he genuinely seemed happy to see us there. He greeted us and introduced himself, said he was happy to see us there, and asked us if there were anything in particular he could help us find. My daughter had just laid eyes on a beautiful 2019 Subaru Impreza, and he asked us if he could show us the car. We happily said yes. My daughters wallet had been stolen from her cart at Winco, and her drivers license (unfortunately) was in it. AJ asked us if we would like to test drive the car. My daughter told him her wallet had been stolen, but she had a valid print out from the DMV stating her name, drivers license number, and the validity of it. He said that if I gave him a copy of my drivers license that would be acceptable to take the car out for a drive. This all happened right around 2 in the afternoon. Well needless to say, we loved the car as soon as we drove off the lot. We gave it a pretty good test drive, and came back to AJ. He asked us what we thought of the car, we said we liked it. He then asked us if we were interested in buying it. Before he ever ran our credit, he ran several payment options by us, showed us worst case and best case scenario for a purchase of the car. He then went to the finance manager, and we got the ball rolling. I would be lieing if I said this was an easy purchase. I do not say this because of Subaru or AJ. They finally came up with a payment that was a bit high, as was the interest rate, but they had worked it out where we had gotten approved. Work time was drawing near, and due to complexities with my income, we were unable to drive the car off the lot that day. But they put a sold sign in the window, and held the car for us. Fast forwarding through all of the difficulties,...(Proof of income, how often paid etcetera) [the bank sending us back for "one more piece of paper.]" The second day we had gone there, AJ had the day off, and we had the pleasure of having Levi pick up where AJ had left off. Do you know, AJ even had the professional decency to call us that night and let us know he would be having the day off, and that Levi would be assisting us? AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM BOTH OF THESE YOUNG MEN. So, the week keeps going on, and we keep getting difficulties from the bank. AJ finally told his manager of all of these problems, and the FINANCE MANAGER at Southern Oregon Subaru went to bat on our behalf with the bank that was promising to carry the loan on the car and told them to get this right. He defended my personal frustration with the banks inability to finalize the deal. The very next morning, AJ called my daughters phone in the morning hours and told her that the bank finally approved everything and to come on in and get her new car. WHAT AN AMAZING FEELING THIS WAS FOR THE BOTH OF US. We showed up as early as we could and AJ met us with an enthusiasm that must have been contagious. Upon our arrival, AJ already had the car detailed and a full tank of gas for her new car. Even I had a better attitude that day even though this must have been the 4th or 5th day we had been there for the same reason. NOT ONLY did AJ and the finance manager and LEVI fight for us, they also managed to get a 6% less interest rate, a $148.00 per month decrease in payments, and as a way of apology took nearly another $600 off the already extremely reasonable price of the car . I have NEVER been so happy to have dealt with a car dealership than I am with Southern Oregon Subaru. Even the loan document lady (valerie ??) was easy to understand and so kind. We had a lot of questions about the many documents we had to sign, and with out hesitation she answered them all for us. WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE THIS HAS BEEN FOR BOTH MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF ( even in spite of the plethora of frustration). I would recommend with the highest approval ratings Southern Oregon Subaru to absolutely anyone. On a side note, my daughter is loving her new car, and the follow up from all of the parties involved in us buying the car, has been nothing shy of THE BEST. No plan to buy a new car and I mentioned this at the beginning. Nick had been recommended once I gave my criteria for the kind of person, I wanted to chat with to a very nice woman that I spoke to on the phone. We sat outside on the bench, masked and just talked about Subaru’s. I have had 4 new ones over the years and love them. In passing I mentioned that I had an RV that I would like to get rid of. His magic words WERE “we might be able to take it in as a trade in”. Well he had my attention. He worked for days, kept me informed all the way. Initially he said, he could not make it work. But I had a feeling about this young man and I was right. He overcame hurtles, convinced his management that he could make it work. Today I am RV free, have a new 2020 Outback and am one very happy individual with peace of mind on 2 fronts: one I do not have to worry about that RV parked in my drive and second I have another new Subaru that will be my trusted travel companion for years to come. Thank You, Nick Knutson, for your tenacity, creative solutions and providing much needed peace of mind in challenging times.
