My girlfriend and myself went to Hall Hyundai in Newport News on a Saturday, hoping to look around at all the options that Hall had to offer. We ended up riding away with a 2009 Hyundai. My sales Consultant was Mitch Sears, which was a very nice person and we didn't have any problems with him. He met us as we walked into their lot. He was willing to let us test drive the car as soon as we saw one we liked, no questions asked. But when it was time to make the purchase, that's when we started to run into problems. I really can't remember the sale managers name right now but the day would have been a lot better just dealing with Mitch. After test driving the car and sitting in the office to talk business, I felt like I was getting the run around. We would ask one question and never get the answer. I stepped outside to have a smoke at one point and over heard another sale taking place not to far away. I heard the Sales Men sale a customer a SUV at same price I got the Elantra for, I asked the dealer if I could maybe take the car home and test it out for a day, and got no for an answer. I asked the dealer if there was a 3 day 1,000 mile return plan, and got the answer no. We were really backed into the corner. So I had the option to take it or leave it. I really didn't like that. I have no problem with the car ( for right now ) but I would also like the option to take it back if I wanted something bigger, but I don't have that option. So now I'm stuck with a car that I may not like, with a price that I know could be better cause I witnessed it with the other customer. Now what can I do.. It took 8 hours from the time we walked in, to the time we walked out. I know buying a car isn't fast but 8 hours is way to long. On the up side of things - I really like the service department. I feel that they care more about us then the office personal. Keep up the great job Service Department. More
I met Nick Vendt about a year ago, He is one of the friendliest sales person I have ever met. If I need my car worked on, he has given me his car as a loner to get my job done, I am a real estate agent friendliest sales person I have ever met. He really cares about a person, it is not just a sale for him, when he does business with you, then you become part of his family. You have a real gem for an employee and a loyal employee. Thanks for having someone like him there for me and my family & friends. I always send my friends and family to him to take care of, because I know he will take special care of them, they are not just a sale. He was going to sell my father a car, but with the price of gas, my dad would loose a lot of money, his advice, keep the car a little longer and he would help him get another one in about a year, WHAT a breathe of fresh air, it is not all about numbers for him, word of mouth can make or break you, I vote to make Nick Vendt, again thanks and his service department is just as wonderful. Hall Huyundai excells in all that they do. I have had my old Hyundai serviced at this dealership since moving to Virginia in June of 2005. I was so impressed with the service dept. that I knew I would give old Hyundai serviced at this dealership since moving to Virginia in June of 2005. I was so impressed with the service dept. that I knew I would give them first shot on the purchase of a new car. The sales dept deserves an excellant rating as it was actually a pleasurable experience buying from such a customer friendly group. I just bought two 2009 Hyundais from them. I intended to buy a Genesis, but ended up buying a Sonata as well. Brian McTurnal my salesman was so polite and courteous and Nick Vendt the Sales manager was more of the same. I definitely will recommend Hall to anyone interested in buying a car. I have purchased many new cars from a wide variety of dealerships and never was buying a car such a positive experience. Kudos to Hall Hyundai and all its staff. More

I have bought all of my cars from Nick Vendt through the years and I have continued to go to him after he moved to the Hyundai store in Newport News. I have been dealing with Hall Hyundai for 2 years now and have always had a pleasant experience. The sales manager Jamie sold me my car 2 years ago and he always remembers me when I come in and checks to see have always had a pleasant experience. This was my second purchase from Hall Hyundai and it was just as positive as my first. The people there are very friendly and professional in their demeanor and attitude. My lead person this time (Rachel) w just as positive as my first. The people there are very friendly and professional in their demeanor and attitude. My lead person this time (Rachel) was excellent, and my experience with her was far superior to my first sales guy (Garrett) who was definitely efficient and knowledgeable, but nowhere near as friendly or empathetic as Rachel. Everything with Rachel was great - her friendly greeting, her lack of "pressure" and her knowledge of the Hyundai line. I felt very confident with her. Nick is the general manager, so of course he was a little more of a strong armer. He knew his stuff, though, and was open to negotiation. He was a little too corporate in his shuffling of people around; I kept getting moved from Rachel to Jamie, then to Nick, then back to Rachel, then Jamie again. Par for the course with dealers, but a real nuisance. Jamie tried to be "slick," but was nowhere near as knowledgeable about stuff as Rachel; I would have preferred to do all my work with her. The financial guy, Devin, is super pleasant, but both he and jamie seemed a little flustered when trying to talk the details of financing and stuff. Okay to deal with, but occasionally too slippery and sometimes I got the feeling they didn't quite know as much as I would have liked. Hall Hyundai is great with follow-up calls, hand-holding, and general customer service skills; I gave them a 4 on this rather than 5, however, because, aside from Rachel, the others are very tough to reach; messages not returned, etc., but I'm told they often have to shuttle between dealerships so they're not always at the same location all the time. I will add that I have every intention of staying with this Hall dealership in the future. In general, the best auto dealer I've ever dealt with. ALSO, a big, big plus for the service department, and this guy named Chris House. I have NEVER dealt with a service department that was so professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Never any misinformation, never any pricing surprises, and ALWAYS fast! I really like this dealership. I just wish their cars were a little cheaper.... More
