I prefer Lexus automobiles, but if South County Lexus were the only Lexus dealer in the world, I’d drive a Mercedes. My most recent experience with South County Lexus was a nightmare. I had contacted two dealers and asked them both to give me a quote that would entail turning in my previously leased car and leasing a new one. Both dealers said that when I turned in my currently leased Lexus there would be no further payments of any kind on the old lease including mileage penalties. I would pay a fee at closing and then I would make lease payments on the new car. The only difference between the two deals was that South County Lexus presented a deal that required $1,000 less money at closing than the other dealer. I asked South County Lexus repeatedly if I correctly understood that I would pay the agreed amount at closing and there would be no other charges or mileage penalties on my old lease. I agreed to lease the car from South County Lexus only after being assured repeatedly by South County Lexus that there were no additional fees of any kind including mileage fees. A month later I received a letter from Lexus Leasing demanding a payment of some $3,600 in mileage penalties. This was not the deal South County Lexus told me I was signing. South County Lexus was unwilling to live up to the deal we made and I had to pay the extra charges even though South County Lexus had assured me when I was leasing the car that there would be no such charges. If they weren’t sure whether I would incur additional charges from Lexus Leasing, they had only to pick up the phone to obtain the data. If I had been told the truth by South County Lexus, it would have been clear that their deal was more expensive than the other deal and I would not have taken it. It would have been crazy to take a deal which was going to cost me an additional $3,600. But I was given false information by South County Lexus and, based on that information, I chose their deal. Trusting South County Lexus resulted in an unexpected and unwelcome invoice from Lexus Financial for $3,600. Now they claim they didn’t know there would be any charges, but that is not what they told me when they were describing the deal and at the time of the sale. They told me definitely that there would be no additional charges. Since the same salesman at their dealership wrote the lease on the car being turned in, I relied on their word that there would be no extra charges. They did not have the integrity to honor what they told me. Conclusion: don’t believe anything they say. They even made a video recording of the signing of the documents. They told me this was in case of any misunderstandings after the signing, the video would clarify what was said. South County Lexus’ managing Partner, Mr. Pat Lustig referred to that video when he told me that they had not misrepresented anything in that meeting. When I asked for a copy of the video, he said it had been sent to the archives and he would get a copy for me. A few days later he told me the video had been erased and he would not be providing me a copy. I believe that the video is available and that it supports my position in this dispute. So if you do buy a car from South County Lexus, I recommend you make your own recording of the signing because, in my experience, their recording will only be used if it supports them against you. If it supports you, they will simply claim it has been erased. I hope you don’t have the same experience as I did, but please know that, in my opinion, if anything goes wrong, South County Lexus will not have your back or honor their word. I do not trust them. I still recommend Lexus cars. They are superb and live up to their reputation. If you want a great car, purchase a Lexus. If you want integrity from a dealer, do not buy from South County Lexus. You don’t have to do business with South County Lexus to get a Lexus. I would recommend driving twenty minutes up the Freeway to Newport Lexus. Their facility is clearly superior to South County Lexus and their service and integrity is top notch. South County Lexus is a stain on the Lexus Brand. More

Service was very pleasant, and Scott was well informed as to all the RX450h was equipped with. He made me feel glad that I purchased the one that I did, and showed me some more features the vehicle had that to all the RX450h was equipped with. I was given a loaner to drive, so I did not have to wait, and was pleased with the job that the detail job did in reapplying the ZKTEK on the exterior, and the new chrome wheels look great. More

I bought a pre-owned IS250 at a fairly decent price, about two weeks later I get a call stating they had to do a 'secondary' smog in order to register the vehicle with the DMV, I wasn't born yesterday, I can't prove it but I'm sure someone overlooked the smog prior to selling it to me so they had to have it smogged. Despite this minor issue they were extremely accommodating! I brought the vehicle in and dealt with Argirios Dimopoulos in the service department. I don't think the service from him could have been any better. He lives in my area and offered next time I need service to drop a loaner off at MY HOUSE, and pick up my car to get serviced! Wow! He had my car smogged, they did a full and beautiful detail on my car (it looked better than when I bought it) filled up my gas tank (it was empty when I came in) and they gave me the loaner with free fastrak... I was truly impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of the staff at South County Lexus. I have no doubt in my mind that I will purchase my next vehicle from them and will refer my friends, family and clients to them! More
After scouring the country for the right 2010 ES 350 for me I came across two that this dealer had that fit the description. I called on Sunday 2/12 and spoke with Ted. He gave me fair quotes on both cars and I told him that I would call him back the next day to move forward. However upon calling back the next day, 2/13, Ted gave me prices that were $1,600 higher than the previous days prices. As a result I asked to speak to his manager Fred for clarification. Fred got on the line and proceeded to tell me that the increased prices were the lowest that they would go and that "it didn't matter anyway as I lived in Colorado and he would not sell me either of the cars at any price as I would not be going back to them for service." Therefore best of luck to any of you that choose to do business with them as they not only bait and switched the prices, they clearly discriminate against potential buyers. Regards, Matt R More

Let me first say we have bought 2 pre-owned Lexus vehicles from this dealership because it's the closet to our home. One is a 2001 LS430, and the other a 2004 LX470. We have brought both vehicles since purchase date to this dealership to have every single maintenance performed. Never said no to a $130 oil change! I took the 2001 LS430 down on Tuesday 11/8/11 after talking with JR, the internet sales man, to have them look over my car the buy it back from me. He had told me to use autotrader.com to get the instant trade amount and bring it with me. The amount was $8,100 which after looking over the car inside and out, they told me that amount was almost perfect. I didn't have the title with me so we didn't do the deal that night. JR told me to come back with the title to do the deal and I came back Thursday 11/10/11. They looked over the car again, found no significant items to change the trade in price and came back with an offer of $5,400. They wasted hours of our time after guaranteeing me the $8,100 was going to be the cash price they would give me on Tuesday. It's a total bait and switch technique. They are scammers over there...terrible sales men with no morals or values. Anybody in their right mind would take all the necessary actions to keep a customer that has 3 very expensive top of the line vehicles. We will never buy a car from them again, nor take our cars to get serviced there ever again, which once again, we have taken all 3 cars since they were purchased. I'm in sales and that to me is a huge mistake to loose a customer bringing you so much business. On another note, in November of 2010 we went to purchase an LS460. We test drove the car, went inside and negotiated a price we all agreed on, started filling out paper work, and another sales men came in and said the car was JUST sold to someone who gave us a cash offer of the full price. We had already negotiated a price!! Now if that's not a bait and switch technique...I don't know what is. We went to Newport Lexus and bought the $65,000 car there that same night! They are idiots obviously! If you own a Lexus do not take it to South County Lexus in Mission Viejo, CA. They don't deserve the business. They are all actors and are unethical. We have now switched to NEWPORT LEXUS and have been so amazed at the difference in customer service and making things right. They are honest and you can count on their word. They were very professional, we discussed price and Matt went to the Manager and they came back with a good price right from the get go (no four square paper with a big magic marker writing, I hate dealerships that do that). It went relatively fast with no hassle, it was one of the smoother car purchasing experiences we have had (and we’ve had several). Bottom line, I would recommend them. More
