From outside the car looked gorgeous. The paint only had one ding, the inside was very clean & the 10 minute test drive went well. The only draw back was the car had a manual transmission, but since i've driven stick shift for years, I figured why not? I'll teach her to drive a stick shift! 2 days after purchase we went out for the 1st stick shift lesson & within 30 minutes smoke was pouring out from under the hood. The car was towed to Lexus to see what was wrong. Ray S, the Used Car Mgr, tells my daughter & I that the terrible clutch smell is because my daughter doesn't know how to drive a stick shift & was riding the clutch. We thought maybe it was an anomaly & went home. On 4/29 we took the car out again. This time the clutch went out on me after an hour & just stuck to the floor. So, the car was towed again to South County Lexus & after an inspection they tell us that the clutch has been ripped to shreds. My husband gets involved, talking to the Service Manager, Daniel G. After back & forth haggling Daniel agrees to fix the car at no charge. In the meantime, Ray S called my daughters father and demands $500 since the car warranty has a $500 deductible. When we picked up the car on 5/9 they gave us an invoice but there's no itemized list of parts that were used to install the "new" clutch. We asked Daniel G if the clutch was replaced with a new one and he assured us that it was. He explained that the work they did had a value of $3,286. On 5/15, assured that the car is fixed we head out for stick shift lesson number 3. We drive around a parking lot, with me watching my daughter like a hawk to see if she's riding the clutch. We start smelling burning clutch and head home before the clutch goes out completely. We take the car back to South County Lexus & they put it up in the shop and point out that the pan was replaced & the mechanic, Eli, insists that he personally put in the "new" clutch but several minutes later states that the clutch was "resurfaced". Then Eli goes for a test drive with me & my daughter. The car drives fine on the freeway. Then, in San Juan, he tells me that I can drive it & see how it's doing. I know he's doing this to test me & to see if I know how to drive a stick shift. So, we head back to Lexus & of course, I drive fine, which Eli mentions. "Yes, you do know how to drive a stick shift". On 5/21 we take the car out & after 30 minutes of driving, the clutch gets stuck half way to the floor. So, we take it to our independent mechanic on 5/27 & they inspect the car & tell us that the disc is slipping. They state "there is oil all over & the clutch has not been replaced". On 5/28 car is towed to Capistrano VW. Their inspection reveals: "when the clutch pedal is pressed all the way down there is a loud grinding noise coming from the transmission area, recommend replacing clutch". They tell us that if the clutch had been replaced there is no way the car would be having problems. At this point the car has been owned for just over a month & driven 96 miles since the clutch was "replaced" & 137 miles total since it was purchased. On 6/10 my husband & daughter went to Lexus to talk to Daniel G. Daniel G tells my husband that I don't know how to drive a stick shift, that the mechanic had to explain the shift points to me & that I was grinding the gears while driving with the mechanic. These are lies. On 6/11 we go to Lexus & meet with Ray S & he starts the discussion saying "whomever has been driving the car doesn't know how to drive a stick shift & they destroyed the clutch". After some heated discussion with Ray S describing the clutch "replacement" as being "brand new", "like new", "remanufactured", and "resurfaced" & it being pointed out that he & the Service Manager are both liars, it is decided that South County Lexus will take the car back & my daughter can select a different car. Ray S says it hurts him that I don't like him & I explain that "it's not that I don't like you, this is business not personal". On 6/12 my daughter & her father go to South County Lexus to pick up the Honda she will be buying & Ray S takes a parting shot by stating that he "drove the VW Beetle & it drove just fine". 4/23 Bought car 4/25 1st time driven- smoking 4/29 2nd time driven- clutch went out 4/29 Took car to Lexus, they promise to install "new" clutch 5/9 Picked up car from Lexus with "new" clutch installed 5/15 3rd time driven - smoking 5/21 4th time driven - clutch stuck to floor 5/27 Car inspected by Independent Mechanic 5/28 Car towed to VW 6/10 Spoke to Lexus about situation 6/11 Car Towed from Capo VW to Lexus More

I am so glad that we met Mathew Clements to be our Sales person. It is truly refreshing to meet a sales person who is more concerned with our satisfaction and selection of the right car, than just selling u person. He was very polite, understanding, thorough, straightforward, and knowledgeable. He was not pushy at all. In my opinion the Sales staff like Matt make all the difference in doing business with the dealership, and not all the bells and whistles, though that does not hurt either, however, you get my point. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone that is considering to purchase a Lexus. Matt made all the difference in us purchasing our RX350 from South County Lexus. More

After reading less than favorable reviews, I was initially hesitant to drop by. DO NOT LET OTHER PEOPLE'S REVIEWS DETER YOU! I almost made that mistake. Almost. I own an Infiniti 2003 M45, an Infiniti 2000 Q45, Honda Civic and my Nissan. Lexus service was above top shelf. Having dealt with Infiniti dealers, I never received anything close to the high level of service offered at South Coast Lexis I offered a red 2005 350Z GT roadster, in trade for a more practical sedan. I made the offer via auto trader. . On Sunday, 6-23-13, I drove down to see an offering from LR/Jaguar.The LR manager stepped in and attempted to "school" his employee on the bait and switch. He was clueless as to MY needs. The bait: a 2011 Altima; the switch: a Honda Accord with manual!!! My primary reason for trading in my "baby" was two torn knee menisci and a broken foot . Prior conversations with Ronnie S:(note to Lexus-Hire this gentleman), specifically offered a ZERO cash trade, or cash back TO ME were discussed prior to leaving Sunday. LR/Jaguar failed. A short drive down the road, I met with JR at South County Lexis. JR is a man of integrity, great personality and a skilled listener/sales rep. He offered TWO trades! A 2006 Altima-straight and a 2003 G35-trade and cash back, $2300. The process was unbelievably stress free! After a test drive, I fell in love with my new 2003 G35 and the $2,360 cash offer was icing. I applied $350 of the proceeds to a 6 month/6000 under the hood warranty. Matthew Mahjoob explained all aspects of the transaction, informing me that we were being recorded. His professionalism and attention to detail are superb. Thinking about the experience, very person I met at South County Lexus was interested in their client's satisfaction. Lexus owners, this is your dealer. As I waited for the final finishing touches, watching a movie, enjoying gourmet coffee and snack in the comfortable, full service waiting area I felt like I had taken advantage of a car dealer. I know they will get $17,000 plus with a small investment, but felt the need to write and share my experience. Beware of other's reviews in any research you do. summary: I will recommend South County Lexus to anyone who will listen. . . Thank you for making a painful sale of my 'baby" a pleasant experience.
