Poor Service Scheduled appointment for initial servicing on my Genesis G80 lease vehicle. Basically got an oil change, oil filter & multi point inspection. I checked in with Service Advisor Donnie Ellis at 8:30 am, informing him that I would be in the waiting room until the work was done. He informed me that I would be paged via my cellphone when vehicle was ready. Around 11:00am I checked the service area to determine if my vehicle was ready, but received no verification that it was. I waited another half hour and returned to the service area where I found my vehicle parked behind the waiting room area.(Main building) I then found Mr. Ellis who indicated that my vehicle had been ready for a while and that I had been notified by page and/or call. When I indicated that I had received no such notification, he mentioned that there had been problems with the system and apologized. Bottom Line: It appears that I wasted at least an hour or more because of a faulty notification system and the fact that no one had the courtesy to check if I was in the waiting room as I had indicated that I would be. More

No Worries with Warranty Service Warranty service is one of those important but time consuming experiences. To be honest, I expected to hear one of those long jargon-filled mechanic Warranty service is one of those important but time consuming experiences. To be honest, I expected to hear one of those long jargon-filled mechanical explanations that would leave me feeling like the village idiot. I was pleasantly surprised when Rodger thanked me for coming to South Bay Hyundai and not to worry he would take care of the problem. Not only was the "don't worry" warranty work done, he suggested a service repair that would improve the performance of my car. The courtesy ride home, the professionalism of the Service Expert, and the clear explanations certainly made my day. This dealership is to be applauded for their great service department. More

Just another service center pleasing their bosses Yet another repeated problem with my Hyundai, with yet another excuse from the service department with, "sorry, we couldn't duplicate the problem", (i Yet another repeated problem with my Hyundai, with yet another excuse from the service department with, "sorry, we couldn't duplicate the problem", (intermittent weak brakes/brake pedal grabs lower than normal). After getting the car back, I noticed that the odometer had only 1 mile added to it. In my opinion, they probably drove it around the block and determined that in that short test drive, the brakes were deemed ok. In past services, the brake fluid reservoir had to be topped off. Shouldn't that itself be a red flag? Also, trying to get a hold of the service department (telephone) is nearly impossible. I finally left a heated voicemail to the service manager...that went unanswered. Want to hear something more shocking? Ask me about the discovery I made after purchasing this "supposedly" certified pre-owned Hyundai Elantra from Huntington Beach Hyundai. Briefly: the Carfax report stated "no accidents". Yet, after driving the car home, the steering wheel would "stick/lock" while driving on the highway. After 7 return visits to the service department, (along with the typical, "we can't find anything wrong with the vehicle"), and repeated attempts to blame it on the car "needing an alignment", I demanded they buy back the car. Boy, how quickly they replaced the entire steering column. But, what shocked me the most was when I tracked down the original place of purchase, along with the service record. Guess what? The car had been in the body shop THREE times, one for major front end damage, (most likely a collision), and the other two times for left rear quarter panel damage...yet the Carfax shows no history of accidents. Who modify and/or falsified the Carfax report? Now I'm once again dealing with another issue with the car, (faulty brakes). I wish I never bought this car. More
