Wasted 3 hour drive Interested in a 1.5 year-old Certified Pre-Owned Pacifica with only 20k miles on it. It was optioned how we wanted it and priced competitively....soun Interested in a 1.5 year-old Certified Pre-Owned Pacifica with only 20k miles on it. It was optioned how we wanted it and priced competitively....sounds pretty good. I asked 2 different salesman on the phone to explain any cosmetic defects on the car prior to me packing up a newborn baby, a 2yr old, and my wife to drive 3 hours to go look at the car and hopefully drive it back home. I explicitly told them I'm very particular on my vehicles and "a car guy". Both salesman told me "you will not be disappointed if you drive the 3 hours here" and "owned by the ex-owner, great shape". Mind you, Chrysler has certain standards for their CPO vehicles in regards to mechanicals and cosmetics. Of course it starts rainy on our trip to Michigan. The Salesman was polite and pulled the van in to service bay so we could look at inside. It's hard to inspect a wet vehicle but it did not take long to start seeing some heavy wear on the exterior.There were more scratches(through the paint) on this Pacifica than on my 2006 Caravan with 120k miles on it or my 40 year old Buick with original paint. Both mirrors severely gouged, shoddy repair work on driver rear bumper, major mark on the face of 1 wheel(not curb rash, not sure what happened). Likely senior-owned with diminished driving skills and hit everything in site in the garage or at the store. All this was very obvious while the van was wet, who knows how bad it really was if dried off. I did not buy the car or even try to negotiate; just appalled that the salesmen would not disclose any of this and say "it's worth the drive". Maybe Ray Charles wouldn't be disappointed, but my wife and I sure were. Looked like it had triple the mileage on it looking at the outside and there was no attempt to correctly fix any of these issues on a Certified Vehicle. If a Chrysler audit occurred and they saw that beat up CPO van which was not even fully detailed on the lot, I'm guessing Snethkamp would have be warned. More
