On 10/07/22 I brought my 2022 Taos in for an NYS inspection and tire rotation. I was informed that the car needed brakes and rotors. The car currently has 25,000 miles on it. VW has an extended warr inspection and tire rotation. I was informed that the car needed brakes and rotors. The car currently has 25,000 miles on it. VW has an extended warrantee notice for the rear brakes on this model and I was told by Nick that the car doesn’t fall under the warrantee because of the milage, cut off is 24,000 miles. Now I had the car in the dealership on 04/01/23 for a recall. I was told back then that the car needed wipers but no mention of brakes being worn, although according to the service department records they were at about 2 mm thickness at that time. First; as stated in the warrant notice “What is Covered During the time/mileage period specified above, an authorized Volkswagen Dealer will replace Rear Brake Pads and any parts and labor necessary to effectuate a repair at no cost to the owner if diagnosis confirms Rear Brake. Pads have failed from a Warranty defect or have failed due to premature wear.” I would think that brake pads with 2 mm thickness after 20,398 miles would constitute premature wear. If I had been made aware of this I would have had the brakes replaced at that time, which would have meant at least the rotors wouldn’t have been damaged. Second; pertaining to the charge for tire rotation, they had to remove the 2 rear tires to make the repair, plus 1 front tire for the NYS inspection. I assume they did remove the front tire for the inspection? And yet they charged me 34 dollars to rotate the tires. I think that after removing three of the four tires for the inspection and brake repair I shouldn’t have been charged to rotate them, but thats just me. Now me and my family have purchased 5 VW’s through you and I know that doesn’t mean much but I would hope it would account for something. After dealing with your service depart for over a decade Im disappoint for the first time with your service department . More
One of the items that the service department took care of was to patch one of my tires that had a puncture in it. The tire was in the trunk, and the spare tire was on the car. They repaired the puncture an was to patch one of my tires that had a puncture in it. The tire was in the trunk, and the spare tire was on the car. They repaired the puncture and put the tire back on the car. Today, I went to put something in the storage area where the spare SHOULD be and noticed that the spare tire is not there!!! They neglected to return the spare tire to its storage location! Thankfully, I discovered it was missing before I needed it, but this is totally unacceptable. I would like someone to drop the spare tire off at my house to save me the inconvenience of having to return to the dealer to recover my spare. Also, it's been a few weeks since my service, and it might have been nice to think that someone in the service department would have noticed an extra spare tire laying around and proactively contacted me regarding it!
