I went there to purchase an E350. I spoke to them on the phone prior to my visit and said I wanted to get rid of my truck. I told them the year, model, and mileage of my truck. They said it was not a prob phone prior to my visit and said I wanted to get rid of my truck. I told them the year, model, and mileage of my truck. They said it was not a problem, as they would love to get me into a Mercedes. It all sounded good. I had a pre-approved loan, Insurance, and just about everything else lined up. I actually would have walked out with the car, that day. Upon arrival there, I had misgivings. The place was old and shabby. I wandered into the office however, hopes high, and was thoroughly disappointed. After walking around for a bit, I was finally approached by a salesman. He seemed amicable enough. I saw a specific car on the site I wanted, and of course he could not locate it on the inventory. Oh well, the car he showed me was 1,200 dollars more, but that was not an issue. While showing me this car, he leaned on another to scribble something down on a piece of paper, to which his manager came out of the office and proceeded to curse him out for scribbling on paper, whilst leaning on the other car. Totally unprofessional. Of course, the salesman said I had asked him to write down something, I did not, but I figured the heat would be off of him, so I let it be. Now for the appraisal of my truck. When it was time to do so, the appraiser cursed out the salesman. Basically due to the fact that said appraiser wanted to leave and this would hold him back. After roughly 5 minutes, I got the "bad news". Seems my truck had a rolled back odometer and was a salvage title according to Carfax. I was less than thrilled about hearing this. When I bought the vehicle, I had a Carfax that the dealer supplied. No salvage title, and the odometer was replaced due to failure of the original. There was a sticker from the DMV on the car stating that, and I told them the same. But no, I was wrong apparently, as was the original Carfax. I have no problem with their saying that they did not want to take it in, I would have sold it privately. But I hate being lied to. Then, as I got up to leave, they asked me to wait a few times, to help me out. Their solution, I park my truck, buy the new car, and deal with it later. And, let us not forget that this was great advice, as they pointed out. After I left, more than annoyed at the waste of my time, I paid for a Carfax, which will come in handy when I sell my truck. Everything I stated to them was accurate, they lied. Also, the car I wanted was still on the website. Furthermore, the car I was going to purchase, that they could not discount in any way, was 700 dollars cheaper at Mercedes Benz of Brooklyn, and 1200 dollars less at Mercedes Benz of Fairfield. My advice is that if you go to Silverstar, do your research, bring a laptop with internet connection, and be prepared to walk away with no reservation. They really need to understand that impressions are important and beyond that, lying to a customer is never a good thing. One would expect professionalism from a manager. More
This dealership is definitely the worst that I have shopped at. The service after sales is horrendous. It's very hard to get their service the minute after you buy the car. We saw a good price online for a slightly used (8,500 miles) GLK and decided to make the trip from NJ to Brooklyn. When we got there we were surprised by how dingy the dealership looked. The front window miles) GLK and decided to make the trip from NJ to Brooklyn. When we got there we were surprised by how dingy the dealership looked. The front windows were cracked, all the MB advertisements were still on the walls from the 1990's, and the overall appearance would make anyone at Mercedes Headquarters very unhappy. We were forced to wait for almost 2 hours before we even started talking numbers with the bank manager. Once that drawn out process was finally complete, we got in the car, which they said had been "detailed." The outside had been detailed, but the inside had coffee stains in the cupholders and on the dash. One of the seat adjustment buttons was also missing. So much for a through "certified pre-owned" checklist. There were also several small dings in the bumper which I thought would have been disclosed in the description on their website. The solution was to send us home with a small bottle of touch up paint. Better than nothing I guess. I couldn't believe the difference between the dealerships in NJ and this one in Brooklyn. If you are in the market for a Benz, do yourself a favor and take a ride over to Morristown, NJ. The dealership is brand new and beautiful. That's where our new GLK will be getting all work done going forwards. OH! I almost forgot! They forgot to put the manual in the car before we drove off with it. We will never, NEVER go back here. A total awful experience. They took my $500 deposit and then told me to come back in a week for my car. Went back a week later and there was no car to be found. It was a bait. So they tried to tell me the then told me to come back in a week for my car. Went back a week later and there was no car to be found. It was a bait. So they tried to tell me the car I wanted will take a month to get. I told them I would wait. I brought in my ML500 for a trade. At that point they tried to give me 8000k for it. They called me the next day and told me that they do not want to sell me a car. The GM told me that people like me should not drive a Mercedes. Very racist and arrogant remark. I decided to go to the bayside Mercedes. Sat down for 30 minutes, bought a better Mercedes than I planned for less. They also gave me 14,000 for my old car. I walked in the next day and I picked up my car. Stay away from Long Island city. They are a bunch of crooks. More
AWFUL experience. I drove three hours to likely purchase a Mercedes CPO vehicle that was very aggressively priced on Autotrader. They took a deposit on the vehicle the night before (which sometimes happens a Mercedes CPO vehicle that was very aggressively priced on Autotrader. They took a deposit on the vehicle the night before (which sometimes happens), BUT when I called that morning to confirm my afternoon appointment, no mention of the vehicle being sold was made. So I drove 3 hours and took a day off of work, I was handed off to someone who could barely speak english, and they told me upon arrival it was sold. The vehicle was nowhere to be found, which makes me believe it never existed and was a bait and switch. So then they tried to sell me a more expensive vehicle off their floor and unwilling to even consider reducing the price to something more in line with the one that was advertised. based upon my experience and other's experiences with Silver Star, DO NOT consider this dealership as they appear to be scam artists. I bought a 2010 ML350. The sales person Jonathan tells me "You can bring your car in anytime and have it detailed for free" I said "WOW!" About a month goes by and I decide to get my car detailed. I ca me "You can bring your car in anytime and have it detailed for free" I said "WOW!" About a month goes by and I decide to get my car detailed. I call the service manager Michael and he tells me it doesn't work like that. That I would have to pay $229 every time I wanted it detailed. He did say since the sales person lied to me the first time would be on the house. I take the car in and Michael is on vacation. The service manager there was a total xxxxx. Rude beyond imagination and no help at all. I wait for Michael to get back from vacation. I start leaving him voice messages. I left him 3 voice messages none of which he answered. I call the dealership and try speaking to the general manager and they route me all over the place but wont let me leave him a message or speak to him. This place is awful. More
