The two exceptions were many years ago when I picked up great deals on purchases from private owners. This speaks to the type of experience I prefer when making such a major purchase. I want to take my time, talk with someone who knows the product and can quickly pick up that I am gone the second I feel pressured or hurried. Steve and John were patient, expert, and friendly. I had shopped via internet against eight other Honda dealers. My instincts not only felt best with Sierra, but it turned out my instincts were good to my wallet as well, as I ended up with the best deal at Sierra. I'll be back in a year or two when I need to replace the family's second car. I've recently learned Steve was promoted to Manager at another Honda dealer. Good for him and good for Honda for having the sense to recognize an outstanding employee. Best wishes to Steve. I also finally went back for some major service. Stephen Pratt was my Service Advisor. Once again, I was treated to patience and professionalism. Home run Sierra. Great example to your peers. More
Sierra Honda in Monrovia gave me the deal I wanted. They have proven to me that you need not worry too much about haggling if you do a little bit or research. I went in looking for an Odyssey at a fair discount since it was the end of the year. At first glance, I looked into the low end model but later decided on the EX with leather trim. Why? I brought in an email from a friend(who lives in the Bay area) who forwarded me an awesome price quote ... way below MSRP. I was willing to fly up to the bay area to get the deal but instead, I gave this to the nearest Honda dealer. I first dealt with, John Ruiz, who managed to speak to his supervisor and receive a thumbs-up to approve the deal. That was the quickest and best deal I've ever had and I'm an internet geek who can't stand salespeople (especially the car kind), but this experience made it clear... be prepared when you go to the sales floor = bring a quote. The not so quick part was the paperwork. It's a lot quicker to get married than to buy a car. Thanks John for the great deal! More
I'm an Internet shopper and a cash buyer for cars because I want to avoid wasting my time in negotiating and financing at the dealers'. I did my homework online and got a great price in email from Honda Sant I want to avoid wasting my time in negotiating and financing at the dealers'. I did my homework online and got a great price in email from Honda Santa Ana. But by the time I transferred enough money from my saving to my checking account (took 3 days), my colors were sold out. So I had to look for another dealer who can match the offer and had my colors. John Ruiz of Sierra Honda kept asking me to come in after I forwarded my email quote to him. I reminded him several times that by forwarding the quote to him, I assume he would honor the price once he verifies the email was not a hoax. I was concerned that this would turn out to be a lure but since he had my favorite color, I couldn't resist the temptation. After inspecting the car I wanted, we sat down to verify the email I brought. He went to another room where I couldn't hear him and came back saying the price was a typo. I wanted to laugh but just walked out. Guess this is the only excuse he could use other than claiming my email was faked, which I doubte he dared to say. How could it be a typo? I emailed back and forth with the salesman who sent me the official quote to confirm the exact trim, OTD price and colors and I would have bought one from him if I was more flexible with the colors. I trusted him very much because he sold my friend a similar car also at a great price recently. Now in retrospect, I don't think John Ruize was willing to match the price before I went there and just tried to lure me in, and I doubt he even talked to the right person (or anyone) in the other room. Otherwise, why didnot he allow me to hear the phone conversation? The fact that he didn't want me to hear the conversation just added to my suspicion. To be fair, I have to say that there is still a tiny possibility that someone in Santa Ana indeeded told him that. But if you trust my judgement, stay away from this dealer. More
Unlike the other reviews that were posted, I have a totally different feeling towards Sierra Honda. Test drive went well but it just went downhill from thereon. The salesman who we were dealing with totally different feeling towards Sierra Honda. Test drive went well but it just went downhill from thereon. The salesman who we were dealing with left in the middle of doing our paperworks, so a very rude sales lady ended up helping us. She lied and told us other dealers who are selling the same model will never sell below their sticker price, but little did she know we had been in contact with another dealer and they were willing to slash their price. But with Sierra Honda being closer, I decided to go there. After I told her about this, she then changed her story and say the Honda dealers "in their area" sticks to their sticker price. So not all Honda's are like that as she previously claimed. What a joke. So my overall experience is about a "0" but since the rating scale only starts from a "1", I give it a "1". Anyone who is considering going, I would definitely not recommend it. More
I actually went in to buy a pre-owned Toyota. Despite that, the customer service was excellent. Overall, it's a very open-minded, friendly dealership. I originally requested a quote for a 2005 Accord LX V6 through an Internet service. I received their bid through e-mail; it wasn't very competitive, but there was also a note that they had never lost a s through an Internet service.
