Scheduled for Ford recall on police explorer. I went over what the recall was about and how the rear end needed to be dropped. It was a min 8 hr service according to ford bulletin. They had the car for 8 hrs and tried to perform the civilian explorer recall. It seems to me to be clearly incompetent to try that. The bulletin says the civil procedure doesn’t work on the police model. The car has decals, light bar and other things a competent person would know is a police car. This was clearly unacceptable performance from a large ford dealership. After I had to call to check on the status, I was told it would be read at 5pm and recall was completed. I received a call from the manager 15 min later telling me the recall was not done and what they attempted to do. He blame Taylor with this mistake and Taylor was off. I don’t think it’s Taylor’s fault as the mechanic should have know what procedure to perform. Needless to say this has lost the follow up vehicle which would have been taken to this dealership. I have been in and out of a lot of dealerships around the country in my to disappoint when it comes to auto and truck repairs on our older vehicles. I have been in and out of a lot of dealerships around the country in my career at Ford Motor Co in Michigan. Frankly, I was stunned to find a high quality dealer like this off the usual city-beaten path. Vehicle repair these days is complex and expensive.
