Here is the event: "Approximately a month and a week ago I brought my CHERRY 2008 Toyota Tundra with 62K miles up to be evaluated for trade-in as I test drove the 2012 Wrangler you all were selling at 16K. Test drive went fine with young salesman as another person evaluated my trade. We came back from 15-minute test drive and went inside. The young salesperson disappeared for a few minutes and then smugly walked back and announced "So, how do you want to pay for the 11K difference???" Now understand, I had vetted and researched KBB valuation for my vehicle and giving every possible conservative estimate its value was between 13 and 14.5K. Conservative. When I asked the young man about that he replied, "Yeah my boss said your paint job undercoat was too thick and the best we can offer is close to 11K, so when we add up out the door cost for the Wrangler, you owe us 10K!" "No deal I replied and walked. Truth is the "undercoat" was not too thick and I sold the Tundra privately for 17K."

Here is the rest of the events at your dealership. BTW when a guest calls to talk to you, don't tell the receptionist that you "are far to busy to talk": Tom, John Kenney here. I am corresponding yo elaborate on the experience at your dealership which prompted my Yelp (and OTHER) reviews. My desire is NOT to wage a war of attrition with your dealership, but people do need to know what awaits them. I fully understand that my Yelp review seemed harsh to you, but I can only now reiterate that the experience at your dealership has been HORRIFIC. I have, to a degree, been forced to deal with your dealership because they are by far the closest authorized Jeep dealership to where I live. I will state now, as I told Nicholas, that once I get my Wrangler back out after the alternator replacement, that I will no longer be dealing with your dealership. I will drive/tow the extra miles in hopes of finding greener pastures. I will stress here and now that my interactions with my service advisor NICHOLAS have always been friendly and professional. My issue is not with him personally, nor any negative behavior that he has exhibited. I will restate the chronological issues I have experienced with your dealership. I do understand that you are NOT directly responsible for SALES, but I will insert that experience here because IT DOES support the premise that the dealership has some very basic and troubling SYSTEMIC customer-interaction deficiencies. To begin; Approximately a month and a week ago I brought my CHERRY 2008 Toyota Tundra with 62K miles up to be evaluated for trade-in as I test drove the 2012 Wrangler you all were selling at 16K. Test drive went fine with young salesman as another person evaluated my trade. We came back from 15-minute test drive and went inside. "No deal I replied and walked. Truth is the "undercoat" was not too thick and I sold the Tundra privately for 17K. Now to get to the service side. A few days after I purchased my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, I promptly brought it up to your dealership for a look over. Thought I was being smart to be proactive. I was greeted in the drive through by a very Rubenesque man and a young Latina girl he was training. I started to explain what I wanted, and he cut me off by saying "Yeah you want the VERY IN-DEPTH Used Car Inspection. It's $450.00 dollars and they look at everything!" He dismissed me and kept talking to the trainee. Finally, he came back, and I agreed. No time frame for diagnosis given. Two days later I received the call from Nicholas. "Yes sir, they are done. All checked out green. All clear. Come pick it up!" Great, I thought. Drove up, picked it up. Paid the $500. Drove home happy. I had been smart to have PROFESSIONALS check it out! Got up the very next day to drive to work in Orange City. CHECK ENGINE light comes on I-4. xxx!!! I text Nicholas to get it back in. Drive straight there from work. Nicholas checks codes. Talks to mechanic. Says it appears to be a NEW gas vapor loss/leak. "Probably very safe to drive!" "NO" I said. "NOT going to drive vehicle with CHECK ENGINE light on. Keep it and find the problem" Get the shuttle. No time frame for diagnosis given. 2 day later Nicholas calls. "Someone in the past did some homemade welding repair to GAS TANK, so you need a new one! THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE SUPER IN-DEPTH USED CAR INSPECTION COULD HAVE EVER FOUND THIS ISSUE!" So I said "So it was just pure coincidence that the check engine light came on the first time I drive it after you all were tinkering around?" NO ANSWER. So several days, five I think, to get the tank and get it installed and flush all the fluids, change oil, rotate tires. I came back in. Pay the $2000 dollars and drive away. MUCH LESS happy this time. Drive the car back to house. It basically sits in my drive for four days. Drive it to work the day after that and on the wayt home, suddenly, screeching, whining, warning lights blowing up display, vehicle sputter and dying and I barely coast off road into a parking lot. IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE. Hop ride with tow truck to dealership. Once again pure coincidence that basically the very first time I drive it after leaving your shop that the alternator and serpentine belt flat out die. Texted Nicholas to let him know. Again, of course, the reply came back "NO WAY THE SUPER UBER IN-DEPTH USED CAR INSPECTION COULOD HAVE EVER FOUND OUT YOU HAD A REALLY BAD ALTERNATOR AND SERPENTINE BELT!!!" Waited thirty minutes at dealership to be greeted...So, I agree to have the service done, and ask for shuttle. Told by man at desk there that shuttle is out but should be back soon. Go and sit down for an hour. Come back no one at desk. All service personnel busy. Asked one, no idea. I have to call Uber and go home. MAD. Later that day get ESTIMATE from Nicholas. In addition to ANOTHER $176 diagnostic fee, $1300 for serp belt and alternator. I had already started doing research on costs in the area and the AVG cost for that work was between $700-900 max. Even figuring in NEW v REMANUFACTURED alternator the cost was still $300-400 HIGHER. Called Nicholas with my findings after calling almost every single other Jeep dealership in ORLANDO area to verify with him why your costs were 35-50% more. No answer besides "They must not be paying there mechanics the $250 hr that we pay ours" Sorry, but unacceptable. I finally agreed to service, but as I said, this WILL be the last time my shadow crosses your building door thresholds. Absolutely HORRIFIC experience. My belief is that for the initial USED CAR INSPECTION, they pushed the Jeep into the bay and went to lunch then charged me $500 to put 100 checks into boxes, otherwise a COMPETENT mechanic WOULD have found issues. NO COINCIDENCE that suddenly everything is breaking once you all get your hands on the Jeep. This will be the last time. In closing I will tell you this honestly. I have literally had a multitude of consumers answer my review and thread with EXACT SAME issues emanating from your dealership. All signs point to a systemic RIP OFF. The review stands. After I pick up my Jeep today, I am gone. I will either walk or have it towed to the nearest Jeep dealership an extra thirty miles away.

Hello, We strive for an excellent customer experience with each interaction we have with our valued customers and it is upsetting to hear your experience was not that way. When we do work covered by your warranty they fairly reimburse or pay us for that work. There are stipulations and guidelines as to what is covered however as they only cover manufacturer defects. The algae growth your vehicle is having is not a factory defect and is instead caused by an outside influence. While Kevin identified this on your first visit we tried to clean it off for you as a courtesy or goodwill gesture to show our appreciation to you as a customer. When the algae came back so quickly it was suggested you have additional repairs done which cannot be covered by your warranty due to the nature of the failure. While I apologize our initial goodwill attempt was not successful it was done with the best of intentions and to stand by you as a customer. Your warranty did not deny coverage because you did not use “Mopar washer fluid”, it was because of the algae that are there from what fluid you did use. I again apologize for your dissatisfaction and hope to exceed your expectations in the future. Best, Tom Harpster Service Manager tharpster@lithia.com

Hello, The algae issue was never mentioned to me, I had the conversation on speaker and there were more people in my office when I got the call. The words from Kevin were "what you use for wiper fluid? I answered that I use whatever is in the store. Kevin said it could not be covered unless I used Mopar washer fluid, since it sounded sketchy, when I went to the dealer to pickup my vehicle, I asked where in the owners manual said that and he answered that is not there but you the dealer would not be paid calling it problem caused by external causes. The algae story that you gave the BBB and here is a lie! I have all the time in the world to keep on doing reviews and alerting people on your practices. Merry Christmas, Manuel Muniz
