Service provided a repair estimate of $11,000 which consisted of thousands of dollars in unnecessary parts and with labor charged at a higher-than-posted rate. I bought and serviced the vehicle here but after this experience, will no longer be a customer. Would not recommend Scranton GMC to anyone. More

My Sierra was in for service due to hard transmission shifting between 2nd & 3rd gears. I owned an extended GMC sponsored warranty which covered the transmission (parts, labor, rental). There were sever shifting between 2nd & 3rd gears. I owned an extended GMC sponsored warranty which covered the transmission (parts, labor, rental). There were several issues during the 2 week service period that I wasn’t pleased with, however; I’ll only address my biggest concerns - keeping the client informed and potential liable costs. During the 2 week process I had to call daily to determine the status of work, warranty company / dealership discussions, and timelines for work being performed. One day I had to call 4 separate times before receiving a callback. Receiving a call at the end of the day to update me or discuss work status didn’t happen unless I initiated the call. As a customer I do not believe updating myself daily on the status is asking to much. A call or text with a simple status update would have kept me informed, allowed for questions and discussions and would have demonstrated quality customer service. Also, during the 2 week service time I was told on several occasions to provide a verbal approval to proceed ie dropping the transmission pan in the event there were labor charges not covered by the warranty. Reading my warranty contract, I did not believe I was liable for any costs. When I inquired at the dealership as to why I’d be liable, I never received a good reasons - so I called the warranty company. On three separate occasions I personally spoke with an appraisal technician at the warranty company. He explicitly told me my warranty fully covered all labor, parts and rental (10days) and that “everything” was covered under my warranty. However, the dealership continued to tell me there could be charges I “could be” liable for. More
