Superb Experience I worked with Mike Mattingly, the Internet Sales Manager at Shortline Subaru. I got in contact with him through a quote I had from a Subaru Outback I worked with Mike Mattingly, the Internet Sales Manager at Shortline Subaru. I got in contact with him through a quote I had from a Subaru Outback I created via the Subaru website. From the get-go, Mike was very informative on any questions I had. I had started looking at dealerships about six months in advance, so I was doing quite a bit of shopping. He gave me a competive price from the start. I worked with him more as my timeframe for buying drew near. Meeting with him in person only made me realize that this experience was not-your-stereotypical car dealership. There was no haggling or pressure. I got straight answers from both Mike and his supervisor Bob Donner. (I worked with Bob one day since Mike had a customer in from another state signing up some paperwork.) Just to give you an idea of how honest and uncharacteristic the people at Shortline are in comparison to other places, Bob suggested that I shop at other places such as Rack Attack to get a better deal on some accessories I was looking to buy for the new Outback. I asked for two quotes from Shortline and two quotes from another dealer in the area. Shortline Subaru’s Tom P. and Bob D. were the only useful replies I received. The other dealership didn’t get me the information I was requesting but they did send an auto-reply stating that I was inquiring after business hours (I thought that was a large point of asking for quotes online). Not only did Tom P. follow up the quote information, he was also quick to respond (less than 12 hours) to any questions I had. I set up a meeting time with him via email for the afternoon I landed back in Denver. As it turns out, I arrived at Shortline directly from the airport earlier than expected. Tom was going to be busy delivering a vehicle for a few hours so he answered a few of my questions and passed me onto Greg S. who was new to the dealership’s product line, but has many years experience selling cars to the public. Greg didn’t pressure me at all into any vehicles, but instead answered any questions I had about the inventory availability (the sale required that I take possession of in-stock vehicles) at Shortline and in fact we were able to look at what was in stock thoughout the state of Colorado and what was on order with the help of Bob D. I wasn’t sure, however if i wanted an Outback or an XV Crosstrek hybrid. So Greg hung with me for quite a while even on one of the busiest sales days of the year for Subaru: Labor Day. I was persistent and I felt like Greg and I were a team trying to find what best suited me. We ended up test driving three vehicles: XV Crosstrek Hybrid, Outback 2.5L Limited, and an Outback 3.6L Limited with the Eyesight package. Long story even longer, I ended up with the 2014 Outback 3.6L Limited with Eyesight package. I had originally never had it in my sights due to price, but the deal I received from Shortline (several thousand under invoice) and the experience I had with the dealership through email conversations and the day of the visit sealed it for me.
