Mellow Salesman Gets the Sale - YAY ! Greg Kraft did not come running out to attack the potential new buyer. He did not barrage me with annoying questions trying to "bond" with every potential new buyer. He did not waste my time with useless and extremely irritating (but very common) "techniques" that many sales people use. I visited almost every dealer on Havana Street and a few in Boulder. Greg and one other salesperson at Boulder Toyota were the only two who managed to hang on to their self-respect and the simple common sense that people are probably going to buy a car if they are walking through a dealership. You do NOT have to force me to sit down and have coffee with you and wait and wait and wait while you take down all sorts of unnecessary personal demographic and financial details about me EVER frankly, but certainly not unless it appears that you have what I'm looking for. Forcing a customer to spend time in one place is definitely NOT what's going to make the customer want to buy from your store. It's more like a prison that he can't wait to escape from and eventually learns that manners and a gentle "no, thank you" is not sufficient for some sales people. I will tell you exactly what I'm looking for, and if you have it, I'll look at it. If you don't, begging me to stay or for me to give you my phone number and email, or asking me to come meet your manager is really only going to annoy me and make me want to RUN out of your showroom, possibly trampling the salesperson in question if they try to block the doorway. Having a "nice chat" with someone who is OBVIOUSLY working way too hard at bonding with me is NOT going to be the reason that I buy a car from that dealer. Greg seems to understand that letting the customer come to the salesperson works just fine, and customers probably have a much better attitude when they are ready and aren't exhausted from an endless run-down of the "incredible features" your cars have and the "incredible deals" you have right now. If consumers are even slightly educated about this process, (and I was only slightly educated), this information is not news to them. It's just some guy on constant sell-mode who is not at all aware of his customer's needs. I met quite a few of them and they truly made Greg (and also Wayne Lewis at Boulder Toyota) stand out as professionals who do their job at the right time, always available for questions, and always informative, and always eager to help meet my needs, WITHOUT ATTACKING ME. Also, after determining which features I wanted and what the different packages came with, and after changing my mind on the color several times, I thought I was ready to sign all the papers for my first new-car purchase. But when Greg mentioned that leasing was also an option, I had to start all over with endless questions about the advantages and disadvantages of leasing. I think it took me almost an hour to come to a decision about that (I leased), and Greg was nothing but patient, kind, and informative the whole time. He did not pressure me or try to persuade me one way or the other. He just answered all of my questions and explained the details and consequences to me very clearly and gave me plenty of time to consider both options and feel good about my decision. He didn't push. He assisted me throughout the decision-making process, and his patience was very much appreciated. I truly appreciate Greg's approach and I would love to see the day when his methods become the industry standard. It would completely change the way people think about car-buying. Thank you again Greg! More

Marvis was professional, knowledgeable and respectful of my time. He treated me as an informed buyer rather than applying high pressure sales tactics. He was honest about typical delivery timeframes for the Subaru Outback I purchased - the car was actually delivered about a month early. When pinstripes were mistakenly applied to my car before delivery, he organized for my car to be picked up from my office, taken to the bodyshop for pinstripe removal and delivered back the same day. I would gladly purchase another Subaru from Marvis. More

Thanks Shortline! Shortline provided me with exceptional service and buying experience. It was especially surprising given it was a busy Saturday at the dealership. We'll take two please! It was definitely time to buy a car and after some research on various makes, models and dealerships, I landed at Shortline Subaru. Greg Kraft assist It was definitely time to buy a car and after some research on various makes, models and dealerships, I landed at Shortline Subaru. Greg Kraft assisted me from the moment I stepped foot in the showroom. I liked the no pressure and straightforward approach. It also helped that I knew which two models I was going to test drive. I can be a bit particular when it comes to just about everything, but Greg was very patient with me while I asked many questions about various package combos and interior/exterior vehicle color combos. When I came back with my husband to get his opinion, Greg was right there to go through everything once again. But, all that was almost all for nothing because once my husband and I sat in a 2015 Outback (which wasn't even on my radar), we each had to test drive and I had to go through my extensive questioning again. This was the car for me! Greg was great through it all. He found the trim and exterior /interior color combo that I wanted. Only one small snag that took us a bit longer - my husband was so impressed with the Outback that he decided to get one too! Yes, we'll take two please!! (in different colors of course) More
Shortline and Carl Volk are Great We had a great experience purchasing our new Forester. It was a busy day and Carl was dedicated to spending the time we needed to get the car and the deal we wanted. We were greeted by very nice folks from the first time we arrived at Shortline - Tom Carr, Victor, and Carl Volk. Most of our time was with Carl, a genuine and thoughtful individual. I feel really good about his purchase, which is not always the case when working with dealerships. The employees really respect and like their owner (name??) which reflects in the customer services rendered. Also, a thank you to Pat at the parts counter for our purchase of a cargo cover today. Definitely will recommend Subaru (which I had never been so attached to before) and the Shortline dealership. Thanks. Joy More

And, to make things interesting, this was our first Internet car purchase -- and even more interesting, we were out of state. The online purchasing experience with Shortline Subaru was effortless. David Cardwell, our salesperson, answered my online inquiry in literally 15 minutes after I pressed submit. And,he followed up with a phone call shortly thereafter. David put our minds at ease on purchasing a vehicle through the Internet and assured us that he has processed many Internet orders. We were purchasing the car for our son to use while he was in college and planned to fly to Denver to pick it up, then drive it to our son, who was about 7 hours from Denver. David sent us all the information we requested on a Subaru Forester with the all weather package. Hands down, the price he gave us was the best and beat other quotes by several thousand dollars. It sounds crazy, but it is true. We matched EXACT options to other quotes and the other dealers from surrounding areas could not beat the quote we received. David documents to complete prior to our arrival and as promised, he picked us up from the airport and brought us back to the dealer for final paper signing. I must say that this car purchasing experience was the best ever in my life and I don't think I would ever go back to negotiating at the dealership. Thank you David Cardwell of Shortline Subaru of Denver! More

Short Line Subaru - Carl Volk #1 I had spent about two months total shopping for the right vehicle to replace my wife’s car. The search was narrowed down to two models: a 2014 or 2015 I had spent about two months total shopping for the right vehicle to replace my wife’s car. The search was narrowed down to two models: a 2014 or 2015 Ford Escape Titanium and a 2015 Subaru Legacy Limited 2.5 or 3.6. I wanted the safest vehicle for my wife and it had to be all wheel drive. I went to several dealerships throughout Denver and little did I know that my first stop would be my last. Initially I had spoken with Carl Volk at Short Line Subaru. He was very professional and told me that they would give me the best price in town when I was ready to trade in my vehicle. I stayed in contact with Carl over the next two months but there was not pressure at all to buy upfront. I then went to the other Ford dealerships in the area. They were willing to give me more for the trade in but when I found out the 2014 Ford Escape had three recalls it was out of the picture from that point forward. I specifically went to Brighton Ford and was just about to buy when at the last minute the email quote that I had been given had went up 4K at signing. This made me so mad and at that point I was never going to buy a Ford. Most of the Ford dealerships wanted me to buy right then and there. I ended up wasting a lot of time and playing a lot of games. I called Carl up again at Short Line and had them assess the trade in value. It was less than Ford, but Ford depreciates quicker than Subaru… not to mention the Subaru’s had the best safety ratings. I was still on the fence about getting a 2.5 or 3.6 Legacy but after reading several reviews I opted for the more horse power and don’t regret going with it. I wasted too much time playing games with other dealers when from the start Short Line was honest and truly gave me the best price in town. I would recommend anyone looking for a new vehicle to buy from Carl Volk. He has integrity, and took the time to show the ins and outs of our new purchase. More
